  1. Alain, are all those real world fighters model kits or Die Cast? Vostok 7
  2. Ugh really, instructions, deconstructed shots, parts lists, SOMETHING. Vostok 7

    POM

POM is usually a bright white plastic, it can be other colors, but when compared to other white plastic pieces, POM will be brighter white. It has a different feel than ABS. It will never be painted. It feels sort of "slippery", and it is extremely strong and scratch resistant (yet it doesn't bend or crack the same as ABS). On Yamato products it'll usually be found on hinges or other potentially load bearing pieces. Most notable was the POM that was on the leg joints of the original 1/60s that plugged into the nose, I think the 1/48 also had leg joints made from POM. Vostok 7
  4. Don't think it's out yet. I think that's a Yamato blog of some sort... Notice how every picture they took seems to answer all the criticisims for the -1D? (I.E., that the cockpit section is the same as a 1-seater just with a second seat crammed in and etc.) Vostok 7
  5. Ha! Makes sense. On my custom MSIA Zakus I always gave them one of the Zaku I "punch shields" for the left arm, or I even used modded regular Zaku II arm shields for them to hold on that side for extra protection. Vostok 7
  6. Wasn't saying you, you just got caught in the quote crossfire Read earlier, there was definitely some strong criticism. Battletech brought me into Macross, just like Robotech brought some to Macross. I get a little miffed when people blast on Battletech like it was another version of Robotech, when really the only thing FASA used was some designs and that's it. In fact, I think FASA won it's suit against Playmates because they owned the licensing for Macross... model kits... before Harmony Gold got anything from Tats, but then dropped the designs because they figured it was too much of a hassle to maintain licensed designs (especially when they really only owned the model kits?). But honestly, Harmony Gold shouldn't have had a leg to stand on against FASA had it come to that, the lawsuit with Playmates already proved that. Really only Big West could have really had anything to say, but I think FASA saw their lawsuit against Playmates as an open door for anyone to get critical of what they were doing. It's just too bad the "re-seens" sucked. Vostok 7
  7. That is 100% awesomeness but why is the arm shield on the wrong arm? And it's really sad that they went with the original '70s looking MSV version of the Zaku Cannon for the MG kit, there are MUCH cooler newer variations... 8. ABS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrylonitrile_butadiene_styrene - AKA Styrene, same plastic used for model kits, it's a hard (but somewhat brittle) plastic that holds engraved details well and is somewhat strong. PVC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PVC - It's a soft, rubbery plastic, characteristic of action figures and other cheap toys. POM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyoxymethylene - AKA Delrin (also goes by other names), is a very strong plastic that resists scratching and other damage extremely well but it is expensive and is practically impossible to paint. 9. The book trumps both (and was significantly better than the movie), it was written in 1978. Vostok 7

  11. The Clan Omnimechs were the only ones that were truly modular, and they do share a lot of similar design and weapon pods (such as the Thor/Loki, Summoner/Hellbringer, Madcat/Timberwolf). That was one of the revolutionary things about the Omnimechs was that they were modular, but that was relatively late in the game world. Anyhoo, this thread isn't about who ripped off who, what sucks more than what, or Battletech at all. Back to your regularly scheduled programming. ...And someone bashes Robotech (and Battletech too now?). Vostok 7
  12. *cough* They licensed the artwork. It was one of Harmony Gold's "conquests" back when they decided to flex their muscles several years back, but really, FASA had the same rights to the artwork as Harmony Gold, but they flubbed up and thought they could poke that bees nest http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battletech Oddly enough, most of the Battlemech designs in the Japanese versions of the game (which are extremely cool and definitely worth looking up) were penned by Studio Nue. It's just too bad that those designs were some of the best of the series (Marauder & Warhammer from Macross, Battlemaster from Dougram especially). Vostok 7
  13. Oooh both are looking pretty dang good. At some point I plan to pick up all the 1/100 -25s except for Alto's (I don't like the head). Vostok 7
  14. My box lists POM no less than three times. It says ABS, PVC, POM twice, then ABS, POM and then ABS, PVC with Japanese words before them probably describing what parts are made of what. It's in the white box at the bottom of the box. Took me about 3 seconds to find. Vostok 7

    Wave SDF 1

The colors are different on the model itself. The "Movie Version" is a darker blueish color, while the original "TV" version is a lighter gray color. That's just based on the pictures I've seen, I don't own either unfortunately. Vostok 7
  16. Maybe the shots have been taken down to retool the cockpit slightly. That's the good thing about a whole detachable cockpit section! Vostok 7
  17. Nope, in Macross the Defender has four 78mm anti-aircraft cannons which fire physical rounds. The Tomahawk has two particle cannons, however. And it was Battletech that got me into Macross too Vostok 7
  18. psst, it's not Battletech Vostok 7
  19. The LEGO Flying Wing IS very nice, I have it. Don't expect perfect movie accuracy, but it is pretty close and it looks really cool. Vostok 7
  20. Korea has largely been ignored (except for a few early-jet flight sims, which ended up mostly morphing into a tiny bit of Korea, with mostly Vietnam ). There was a Battlefield Vietnam game a few years back but not on a console. Probably neither has been really done because not many people in the core game market even know about the Korean War, and, well, I don't know why there hasn't been many Vietnam games. Maybe because gaming technology couldn't handle the rainforest-y-ness of the setting very well. But I mean, if they can do Far Cry and Crysis, why not a Vietnam game? But definitely they need to do something rather than WWII and strictly modern era. Fortunately for the CoD franchise, the Battlefield franchise took on the "future war" scenario and totally sucked, so they didn't need to do it Vostok 7
  21. What in the... Did they forget how a -1S head was designed? Goodness. Vostok 7
  22. How about WWI? I know it wasn't as "interesting" or "quick paced" as WWII, but still, why not? There were lots of major advancements and some really fascinating stuff in WWI that would be great for a FPS. I mean, tanks were just getting introduced. Biplanes and Triplanes were flying around everywhere. Even Zepplins flying around dropping bombs. I know the PC flight sim crowd has been clamoring for a WWI flight sim for AGES and no one has gotten off their butts to do it. There's a pretty large untapped market there, if it was done right. 23. Indeed, it's all about the Blow Superior Vostok 7
  24. I fixed it I just had it that low because it looked cool with him leaned over that much. I moved the stand up one notch so it's a little more "realistic". Unfortunately, the chicken strips on my last bike were pretty big so I never got to enjoy the feeling of dragging a peg Vostok 7
  25. Alaska would be interesting. I've seen crashed Japanese aircraft up there, like a crashed Zero in the center of the tiny town of Yakutat. Pretty cool stuff. Vostok 7
