No prob Ignacio. I hope that by seeing one get built it inspires others to build theirs instead of be afraid of something so large. Mike did an excellent job on this kit. Ill be adding or adjusting a few little details just for my own liking but on the whole the kit is great as it is. One note to add though is that the lower plates that fit into the upper body may require some extra sanding and adjusting to get them to fit flush overall. Once thats done its a simple matter to slather on the filler and wetsand away the excess. The most progress will be over the weekend once i can get my filler. I also want to cleanup the inside of the missile ports on the arms or back them off with a cover like modern missile launchers have. The scale and size of this kit will allow alot of options never before afforded to this vehicle. Its only been COMMONLY available in 1/160 and 1/200 scale . There have been limited ones in 1/144 and a bad heavy paperweight of a 1/72 scale a few years back. THIS ONE will look excellent sitting next to the available hasegawas and other 1/72 scale macross kits.

well here is the first nights work. The upper body plates are in and just need to be blended and sanded in place. Need to get some putty/bondo for that. The hip "whistles" are assembled, they fit snugly in their sockets but will not provide enough tension to hold the monster upright when complete. Thats ok for me. They will be held firmly in place using magnets and tension. The magnets will be embedded into the socket of the hip and the ball end will be drilled out and filled with steel BBs. The red fillet on the lower hull is a really tight fit and required extra sanding inside the slot where it goes to get it in. Looks good in place though. I wont be lighting the kit but i will be backing all the red pieces with white r chrome so any light getting in will be bounced and amplified back out. This will give the parts a "glow" that wont distract from the model. Another thing i will do to extend the overall life of the hips is to drill them through and insert a hardwood dowel into them to keep the weight from warping the resin over the years. Well Enjoy the first pics of a monster under construction

Id rather have your cast personally. ADV asks its VAs to be too animated character like and not as human as the dubs for serious anime should. Stuff that is more comedy is ok to have a cartoony sounding VA but for their more serious subjects like EVA and gasaraki all the yelling and especially the screechy female characters gets in the way. The most well acted ADV release i have seen as far as dub would have to be Rahxephon.

Thanks Mike I should have recognized it. Keep your eyes peeled guys i start cleanup and magnet prep tonight. For the magnets to work on the 4 cannons ill have to AX the balljoint kind of plug and just make an even recess the magnet can plug into. Anyone know of a good online source for rare earth magnets? I cant find the thread that it was linked in using the search function.

Actually i was going to watch all the Monster scenes in SDF TV and look through Perfect Memory and see if there are any details i could add to mine. Mikes work is excellent but there were certain details seen on some linearts i might want to incorporate into my build. BTW mike What was the scale of the 250/251 german halftrack that you got the drive wheels off of for the detailing on the "hip" pieces. I want that vehicle for RC if it isnt the 1/18 one i have already.

(Bangs head on desk) guys please i really need my money. The VF-0S sounds very tempting but for now i will have to digress. Ill be happy with a 51 for now. It looks better anyway.

Just bumping this for those who want paint and weathering ideas for the 1/72 monster. Ill probably use this as the thread for my big monster as well so i dont need to start a new thread.

Overall the work is good and high quality for a fandub. My only real quip is Roy. The VA is good in his own interpretation but overall the character is presented too gruff. I havnt heard anyone be that gruff to their troops before a battle. Not even Patton. It seemed like he was talking down to them and not inspiring them.

Got mine today. No warped or broken parts. Maybe i should start a poll and see if people want to see me build it. im torn on doing it right now.

Thanks. Yes my wife still knows my name. She was even building a model today. The Wallace and Grommit, Anit-Pesto van. I help her out with the fiddly bits. The VF-0 should be ok. I made the booster and weapons removeable so i can switch between normal and booster version. I am going to buy a buttload of eggcrate foam to pack them, this way i can have nice padded layers of models. BTW noone ommented on the VF-0s gesture in the first pic

Dam You Macross 7 Dam You #$%#$^#$&^$%&
HWR MKII replied to deadghost's topic in Movies and TV Series
Back when macross was first thought of in 82 the idea was to make a comedy series that made fun of gundam and all the other giant mecha shows. They dropped that idea to bring us what we currently have with the VF-1s , SDF-1 and such. Macross 7 kind of went back to that idea in the way the valks are represented and the overall scheme of the show. It does have its serious moments but overall it is a lighthearted and quite comical series. Comparing it to SDF TV, M+ or M0 is like comparing apples and oranges. M7 is its own entity. It should be treated as such -

Dam You Macross 7 Dam You #$%#$^#$&^$%&
HWR MKII replied to deadghost's topic in Movies and TV Series
The series was Kawamoris Way of showing his sense of humor. If you notice all the "Other" sound force valks that lost all the time only sang Macross 2 songs. He was also making fun of the monster of the week type shows. In a way he took macross back to its origional idea. It was INTENDED to make fun of all the giant robot shows. Just give it a rest guys and take it for the intentional spoof it is. -
Thank you Jorawar. With the rulers it gives me a better idea of size. BTW in 1/35 or 32 scale it would be possible to do a variable YF-19............with fastpacks.

Thanks guys. Seems im the first one to complete the kit actually. Im happy with the way it turned out. I just need to get the booster for it and it will be perfect. the toughest part was actually painting it. Indigo you arent the first person to say i have a slight Bower/J Anderson feel to my style of finishing. thank you.

Thanks guys. Its done now. All i need to do is get a booster kit from SSM and fit it. Mech the wheeled vehicle is an italian Centauro. The kit is beautiful and falls together as good as most injection kits. Well heres the finished pics. Big F go to comet miniatures . com. when i was there last in person they had the 19 with the sound booster on it.

Thanks guys. Specr. The weld details were highlighted by using normal wash and drybrush techniques. Also the pipework on the hull is handpainted. I used gunmetal on those to give them a different look. The weathering you see there is the end of 4 hours of work. Its basecoated in Testors acryl Panzer SchwarzGrau, Postshaded with tamiya Nato Black then the panels were all highlighted with PollyS Intermediate blue. In the animation the vehicle was an overall dark grey so i figured id go with that and see if i could liven it up a bit.

Awesome. That is looking really nice Luke. It will be a head turner for sure even sitting still.
