cool thanks Mick! was just curious as I can get fine line from my work but it isn't very well suited to small intricate work.. so if the Tamiya tape can make a good clean paint edge then im happy! now to go out and buy some!
-
how good is the Tamiya masking tape when it comes to doing fine edges? or do you still need some kind of fine line stuff? I am going to give building that assembly kit I have a go but don't want to make a train wreck out of it..
-
bugger.. that's no good. Engine failure perhaps?

thanks for the update Jason! its all good buddy, no need to explain yourself for anything. You're doing great and we're all happy to wait so take your time mate!

hehe! I had all my Macross related books (and others) laying all over the place on Sunday but didn't take a photo of it.. might have to take me all out again!

I know this isn't the 1:60 toy but seeing this just adds to my ever growing regret not buying the Arcadia VF-19 FIre Valkyrie with sound booster re-issue.. been looking around for one but they are quite rare and expensive. -
impressive work! those VF-25 look really good!

as JV said, you'd want to inquire regarding the possible yellowing.. it could just be the poor quality pics & lighting making it look that way but you still want to be sure about it as you reeeaaalllyyy don't want something with off color plastics. pricing wise its ok... though keeping in mind this is a 1:48 so essentially you are getting more Valkyrie for your dollar but the general consensus is that the 1:48's aren't quite as correct in physical proportions as the v2 1:60's toys. Also it depends on what scale toy you want to pursue or you don't mind having mixed scale collections. have seen them go a bit cheaper but you might have to put in the effort to find better pricing without sacrificing condition. But I have also noticed a slow upward pricing trend on the 48's over the last couple of years as they get older and probably more desirable. best of luck with your Valkyrie hunting!

I certainly hope so! Might try and get two of em! I would like a couple of them to pose next to my HWR Monster!

Hehe! I'm not angry at all! Don't want to give that impression.. I rather enjoyed reading through all those books! Was quite relaxing actually!

I totally agree. A non transforming VF-4 (VF being "variable fighter") is just Master File series page space filling nonsense.. in a way it makes me glad I can't read a word of Japanese as it would just piss me off to read all the other 'no thought given / spur of the moment ideas' nonsense they would have come up with.. I took out all of my Macross mecha & art books over the weekend and the VF-4 master file is definitely the worst of the lot. But still glad they actually released it.

its been very cool to follow your amazing progress with this! cant wait to see more! better yet I can't wait to see it finished!

Yamato SV-51 Nora or VF-0A Arcadia,Which one should i get first?
spanner replied to thetrollphysicist's topic in Toys
yeah the VF-0S would be a better thing to buy if one can afford the extra stretch! I would really like to see Arcadia re-issue an updated VF-0D with some of the improvement they made to the A & S variants.. such as the fold out shoulder gap fillers, knee joint gap filler for fighter mode, re-position the slots on the arms so that the gun pod stows in the correct position and doesn't get in the way of the arrestor hook.. I'd probably offload my original three if they actually did that! -

dang! I want this book! where do I find this!??
-
wow! 1/4! she's huge! and regarding those "ribbons" no comment.

seeing I already had a Yamato Cavaliers VF-1A, I had an Alaska Base greenie built from a assembly kit version and it looks fantastic! Sorry don't have photos on me but I definitely posted some of it in one of the threads in here.. Surprised Yamato never issued one. Probably as it made only a very brief appearance.. but they look very cool!

Yamato SV-51 Nora or VF-0A Arcadia,Which one should i get first?
spanner replied to thetrollphysicist's topic in Toys
its kinda like a double edge sward scenario with these two toys.. both built from different generations one being old school Yamato and the other a Arcadia renewal but both have their issues.. I don't think the SV-51 ever really fell to bits that often though I'll admit I picked them up rather late in my collection timeline and without much research and never any real intention to switch them out of fighter mode so the durability side of them wasn't a priority, but... they are rather loose'n floppy and not the nicest thing to handle. Though the tight & solid feeling Arcadia VF-0A had a tenancy to get "legless" if you know what I mean! As 505 mentioned, if you don't use the VF-0 leg hip extendy gimmick then you're gonna 99% safe with it but the risk is always ever present. But not all of them seemed to have that particular issue. I have two of them and extended the hips/leg on both without issue and they don't feel like they're about to fall off after doing so. The Arcadia VF-0 line are all great toys to look at and handle, clean & solid build feel. If you could stretch a little extra and pick up the VF-0S which is definitely the most improved of the bunch but if not then Shin's VF-0 is fine and you'll love it regardless. And as 505 also mentioned, there hasn't been any indication of Arcadia planning on a SV-51 renewal so maybe the VF-0 is the better buy considering the SV's can demand good money. Personally I'd go with the VF-0. -

hehe! yeah I kept the coffee cup a good whole meter away while gazing at the pics! very nice art work! sadly no chocolate cookies left to enjoy it with.. we had those really nice soft & moist Cadbury ones but some other selfish person gobbled them up while I was at work.. very strange from HLJ.. I wonder what they are up to with that? Hope they get you guys orders sorted soon!
