Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - <<Season 1>>
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
They need to have aliens in gundam in order to have world peace. That is how the people in macross came together before the zentradi arrival. No need for children running around blowing up both sides and killing people then. -

Yeah but how many times in g1 did he not have the courage to take megatron head on? He actually admits he is not all powerful (at this time, preferring to hope that one day he;ll get stronger and more powerful or that megatron falls in battle) and prefers to shoot megatron in the back in one ep. Megatron then turns around and starscream cowers like a little pussy cat and begs to not be shot (a bit like megatron begging to prime to not kill him in the movie ) Megatron then comments on how weak SS weapon is on him and doesn't even take starscream seriously enough to actually kill him. (not until g1 movie) Really it's actually not a fan made image. (I've just finished watching all of g1 so it's not my memory being fuzzy here) He is like that. His main positive attribute is the fast speed, (I'll assume he is vulnerable to heavy arms fire like how swoop has delicate areas on his wings) not having heavy armor, massive strength (like dinobots) or a strong body. The way I see him is that in g1 he was the guy with all the ideas and brainy, but he doesn't have the skills to pull off the plan, and usually fails in the execution like the character in the road runner cartoon who has a devious plan and it ends up backfiring because of incompetence more than due to the enemy being smarter than him. Anyway I would rather have a sleek and skinny robot mode instead of the gorilla since I tend to think him being in that role in g1 is due more to speed. You will never see starscream beat prime one on one, or fight grimlock head on. You would see him come up with some plan to trick them or deceive them. A more indirect method to have his way rather than the brute force method. He was more interesting imo as a plotter, than just a generic warrior. Yeah he killed those autobots, but that was under megatron's command wasn't it? That's how I am going to treat it, where I won't bring in any expectations when/if seeing the movie. Still wouldn't mind seeing a larger f22 of him though where they try to make the fighter less chunky underneath. (if that means slimmer robot mode then good. Just as some were put off by jazz fat legs, I am put off a bit by the guns and chunky body for SS) -
Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!

I would like it to go in the direction of space exploration. They have macronised guvava pets who have brain wave controls, and like the zentradi in dyrl who have their brain controlling their ships, they use animals to do the dangerous jobs nobody else will do. (like how humans might experiment on animals before using on humans) The guvava's are smart enough to control valks from training at the academy. Something goes wrong, we lose contact with the guvava clones (who pilot the valks to gather info on different planets) and humans discover some ancient ruins of pc with its automatic defenses activated. Then a team of destroids is sent down there to retrieve the wreckage of the valks that got shot down, and they are forced to fight their way out as they lose contact while inside the ruins. Indiana jones mixed with resident evil. As they get closer down into the abandoned labs of the pc, its discovered that all that was written about humans and zentradi is a lie, we all originated from the protodevlin creatures that lived in the sub-universe and this explains why we are so warlike and need to spread apart. The subuniverse is overpopulated and had to spread some of the most evil being into our world to lessen the damage we would do by living there. This causes all out confusion and people refuse to believe it and want to bomb the ruins to hide the truth. Can our destroid team make it off in time before the planet is destroyed? The destroid pilots decide to enter a gate to the subuniverse knowing they can't make it off in time and they meet hikaru misa and minmay along with the missing parts of the sdf1 from SDF: macross that vanished when global folded for the first time and left them stranded in space for a year. They discover that they are now characters in the robotech universe and stranded in that world forever! Hikaru changed his name to Rick, Misa is lisa, and minmay is minmei. That concludes the end of all macross shows.. A movie and tv series is made about macross in the subuniverse called SDF:Macross which is a classic tv series watched by many who subconsciously have an ancient memory of the events that happened outside the subuniverse and are drawn to watching the show. In the future those people in the subuniverse become the "protodevlin" that get sucked into the macross universe and possess people's bodies having forgot their origins and feeding off other people's lifeforce like a parasite instead of creating their own. (as seen in macross 7. The PD = HarmonyGold trying to feed off all the old japanese mecha shows' animation instead of creating them ) -

Good review on jazz. Lucky I skipped and got wreckage instead. yeah that would be cool. Make him sleek and more delicate instead of chunky though. Being a delicate jet, Starscream in g1 isn't as "tough" as other decepticons and would rather fight in more indirect and cowardly ways. He should be more brainy than ballsy. And the annoying high pitched voice is so part of the character - perhaps he screams like that because of the lack of balls and the speed he flies or something? I have nothing against the actual gorllia shape of the movie SS ( I like it) just that I thnk it is a bit out of character to the g1 TF we all remember. -
Don't forget the collar piece that adds reinforcement. It will sit on the top of the valk in battroid mode, between the head and backplate. Covers up the gaps you see from above too. Buy the GBP armor parts now to get the side parts to cover up the gaps at the side of the battroid. More gaps makes it look weaker.

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!

The whole idea of teenagers being in it doesn't scare me. It doesn't mean the show itself has to be immature. It might allow the audience to "learn" what the valkyrie is all about the same as we did through shin's eyes in macross zero when roy was explaining the point of the 3 modes. It might be done well for a noob audience who is not familiar with the macross valks if they present it like that in zero: ie the tf is "new" (non-familiarity of controls since the characters are inexperienced) and be just the right thing to pad the series. (instead of macross 7 showing the already-good pilots doing their thing and no emphasis on the three modes and 'danger') I liked that about zero, shin had to slow down to transform and the pilot couldn't just do whatever he liked. If it sucks, I will still end up watching. I wonder how smooth the animation on the series will be? Maybe if popular enough it will get an ova or movie like what DYRL was to SDFM? I don't know why people keep bashing macross II. It wasn't that bad. It jJust didn't add much to what the original already had in it. Just the usual "war is bad, make love and hug things rather than kill things", that is the standard for all these types of shows. I hope they add some more mystery in this tv series which leads to new info about the pc that we haven't seen yet. -

A macross about cannon fodder. Maybe they can make a spiky haired character that looks like hikaru and a teenage girl that looks just like minmay, and the exact same thing happens but in more new valks? Boy meets girl/s, girl almost gets killed, boy saves girl using the robot like a knight saving the princess from the clutches of a monster. (protodevlin) A jealous girl who is focused on duty scolds the boy and away you go... remake of SDF: macross. Add a older Sempai character to get older audiences to watch, who eventually dies, (passing on the responsibility of leading others to the immature kid) and a geeky looking kid who knows too much about the valkyries for his age who becomes the "dark horse" who comes out of nowhere to kick ass. Just show me the vf-11 in well animated sequences against zentradi powered armor and I'll be happy. After this takes off all the fans who wanted to know what happen to minmay hikaru and misa after sdfm can shut up because these people look just like the original characters in SdfM hehe Then after that, they can make that destroid side story about being stuck in a enemy zone cut off from air support and forced to survive with limited ammo, which leads to mospeada type "end of level" boss. -
Exactly. It is a fine balance between a) getting them out quickly for those who are happy with it (and have no breakage for some reason) and b) taking their time to ensure the thing can hold for those who find spending money on just 1 is hard to swallow if there is no garuantee of durability. But due to the very nature of macross (being somewhat dead with barely any news on macross toys from the bigger companies like bandai) fans have no alternative until some other company has the balls to take the risk of releasing something that competes with yamato to get them to be nicer and more desperate to please the buyer who can easily turn to the competition which would allow them to have that leverage to be able to threaten to not buy the yamato versions of things. They would then respond more quickly and urgently as they would know the fan has others to spend their money on. (competition will encourage more aggressive pricing as both will try to outcompete each other in value and quality just to stay in the market, listening to advice and responding quickly to please the buying fan) Personally I make the choice to just wait so long as it is known whether they can (actually having the ability to do it) improve, rather than rush out to be the first to buy it just because I can't wait. I support yamato only when I get the durability I want from a ptf toy (otherwise I would buy models) as this is what I want from a mecha: it should actually show the perfect transformation without being too fragile to tf, and at the larger size, be satisfactory in details to be useful to buy at the size in the first place. Not buying doesn't mean you are not interested, just that you want to get the best version and send the message to them (via communicating specific problems you have) that the durability is a big issue in deciding if you'll fork over the money. Otherwise we wouldn't hang around on boards in the first place complaining or offering suggestions on what we'd like to see changed or improved on, if we hadn't shown interest in it in the first place.

Can't see it properly because it is at a wierd angle. Like they want to distort the image to show perspective or something. -
Mint probably didn't develop any breasts as she got older so it was probably ok to touch her there without it being sexual.

Yeah but aoshima is helping so maybe that might mean something? Like it actually gets released. Many people said shadow chronicles is never going to come out, and it came out. Man your harsh.

What about the "living zentradi tissue encased in valkryie armor parts" bit? You don't think a alien shapeshifting substance living inside the armor is a cool mecha design? It fits right in with the high technology that must be available in the future when things are so sophisticated it is like magic. Yf21- what looks like bendy armor on the plane. (first use of skin on mecha) exedol's tentacles from DYRL- showing how the nerves can be used to manipulate the robot parts to make moves quicker and more natural dr chiba's experiments - shows how you can trap a soul in a cage of basara's music to capture it. Maybe chiba find a way that he can seal a soul inside an organic mecha to give it life? Open the gate to hell on purpose and get a demon to live inside a mecha to make the ultimate killing machine? When you combine all the technology together what you get is a "bioroid" from the southern cross part of robotech. Perfect evolution from mechanical bots that are slow and unresponsive, to organic mecha which can move smoothly with better efficiency. Forget the disaster of sharon apple taking control of the sdf1 with her AI in macross plus, this thing would eat that for breakfast! Protodevil-possessed super robots are the future of mecha for un spacy. They just need to clone heaps of zentradi to create the farms to feed the mecha in "spiritua points" so the PD entity inside has something to eat and doesn't starve. Dr chiba frankenstein experiments to make the ultimate weapon will be relied upon to defend all future colony ships from rival alien races that want to challenge Human's military might now that we've defeated the most threatening thing in the galaxy and pose a threat to these aliens as they want to control it for themselves. All these rival alien races were just waiting for the perfect time to put thier plans into place after we had done all the work for them by defeating the PD which was stopping them from taking over the galaxy. -

Guvava almost getting stepped on in macross 7 is the most scary thing about macross 7! seriously. Go rewatch macross 7 again where guvava is jumping around on the floor and there is a stampede of people running in fear. Imagine if he had been crushed? If it was gritty and violent like DYRL you would see guvava's blood and guts and insides all hanging out of his body on the floor and mylene would go into depression and maybe start wearing black clothing and having an morbid interest in death. Maybe getting tattooed, nipple piercings, self mutilation etc. and forming a goth metal band instead of singing pop songs. Would not have been pretty. One of max's daughter taking up music may have seemed like a good idea by max, but mylene going through this trauma could also do something to her mind: she turn out to be a drug addict to escape from society, get into a sex scandal with sex videos released of her on the internet to buy more drugs, and be seen as a threat to city 7 society as her music influences other young minds to commit suicide and become angry and violent with the world. Milia and max would be painted as bad parents and mylene would be public enemy no.1 but her fame would cause her to become too powerful as her fans and body guards would worship her as some goddess of music. Well something like that would work for macross 25. Just have a really messed up character like evangelion but make her a female pilot that loves to kill things while listening to music. Western macross fans will like it. Instead of a brightly colored valk with a face, have a black valk made from living zentradi tissue encased in valkryie armor parts. (organic mecha - a cross between zentradi human and protoculture technology) In macross 25 Mylene is all grown up and thrown away her cute little girl image and become a huge success with her metal band which has many songs about death. I can see the Zentradi turning to this music to empower themselves and turn back to their old warrior ways and start to go out of control which is all due to mylene's depressing music that turns the zentradi back to being warriors who like to fight. The military don't do anything though: Mylene uses her elite piloting skills to train the zentradi to be more efficient killers and this helps the soldiers become better pilots, so they let her loose turning a blind eye to all the things she gets herself into. (drug addict, ex pron actress, criminal history etc) -
That's good news. Maybe they could even release LE non-canon alpha and beta. Like a weathered camo alpha?

Star Wars: The Clone Wars CG TV series
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to GRAND CANNON's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
But if the show isn't out yet, how do we know they won't change it so it won't be so bad? That's why I asked how do we know if it will be bad until its done? When I look at star wars ep1, I notice the cg detail isn't as good (like the texturing on some things is blurry) as the stuff in ep3. I'm no expert. And then there is the factor of "taste". Some people have already said they don't want realistic cg because the animation looks wooden and the characters have the effect of being more noticeably-fake the more you TRY to make it real. The human brain picks those things up that they ordinarily wouldn't had the characters been purposely cartoony in the first place. (ie shreks animation being nice and flowing and smooth vs the wooden 'realism' of the FF movies where there is no weight and where people just feel floaty like the guys in the matrix sequels) And then look at appleseed: some people want the character to be celshaded to go back to the "anime/manga-world" where they are close to being like comic book versions of people (big eyes, anime proportions vs actual real people) Some people might actually like the 'bad' fake stuff so the mind doesn't focus on trying to pick apart how unreal the cg is. (the uncanny valley) For tv series the animation might start out poo and then get better. It might start good, and then go crap towards the end. For movies: you don't have to be an expert to know that the early cg gollum in fellowship of the ring is inferior to TT and ROTK gollum. One just sucks because they might not have had the time to make it better, and then by the second movie as it became a priority, it started looking much better. (beating out the yoda cg puppet from star wars in the facial expressions and stuff. End result being that you could forget it was cg and could start to feel like he was a real person) -

So is anyone planning to be the guinea pig to see if they are truly superior to the toynami versions to review them? (if something breaks will aoshima be able to supply a replacement piece?) I'm curious to know whether they can hold the gun properly with arms extended and all that. -

Aliens don't know that! When chip chase mentions how the one on one battle with optimus prime vs megatron reminds him of roman gladiatorial fights, none of the autobots have any idea what the hell he is refferring to. They might have just seen a generic movie with lots of smoke and thought that is what any fighter should look like and then jump to the assumption that smoke makes the disguise better. -
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - <<Season 1>>
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah I know but the idea of being inside a suit for hostile environment where the human needs to be in a vehicular robot for protection (and using manipulators to grab stuff) is how they could sell it. In patlabor, they are called labors. In macross they are called battroids/destroids. In gundam they are mobile suits (derived from the robots used for construction of space colonies before they were thought of for military use - like the power loader in aliens) so really does it freakin matter what the name is they use? Before we had cars we used horses. One is just more high tech. A more primitive MS for a prequel wouldn't be out of the question any more than vf-0 would be for macross. I'm not saying it should be done or anything, just pointing out that it wouldn't be "impossible" to make a prequel or for it to go down that path if one day bandai decides they would do it. Whether it would suck or not or be pointless is another topic though. If turn A can bring back ancient robots (which were modern during thier time in UC calendar) why couldn't a psuedo prequel just chuck in early types of robots that are mobile-suit-like, and just call them something different? (like how people once used "ships" to sail the seas to find new lands to settle, and now -in science fiction - use "space ships" to float around in the far reaches of space to explore? Same thing, different age.) Bikes take the place of the horse cars take the place of horse and carriage spaceships take the place of seaships .... so mobile suit takes the place of "experimental powered armor" (like iron man) the former all serve the same basic purpose as the latter despite being newer or more advanced. Just as guns and tanks replace the sword and shield for fighting with. The weapons themselves are not new, just the technology. Yes the normal suit is just a space suit, but there are also robots that paint the srufaces and clean the sides of ships. (I remember seeing something like this in UC) As if that kinda stuff is so impossible in the AD era... I mean having a robot vending machine or a robot worker is not so high tech anymore that people who lived before the UC calendar would marvel at and go "WOW never seen a robot in my life before". You don't have to depict AD earth life as so primitive that they have virtually no computers or ideas of there own enough to create cheaper, less sophisticated version of robots. It's just the "idea" of using the robots for war that was new, not robots themselves. Having zeon mass produce the first mobile suit is not the same as saying zeon were the only ones who made military robots. The idea could have been floating around in people's heads long before the technology was advanced enough to be worth building. (like how in macross zero the vf-0 uses up too much fuel and makes fighting a waste of energy unless technology is in place to make it worth putting together so the fighter can stay in the air long enough to actually do anything) I would imagine that in a theoretical prequel they could just have human nerdy hobbyists exploring the idea of using robotic workers which are fully automated and do the mundane tasks in place of human workers to be a nice start for the first humanoid robot. Then over time people complain that it's not safe or that we can't trust the robots themselves to do a safe job, (like the ghost drones being too dangerous to tell friend from foe in macross plus or the brain wave controls being too unsafe for the pilot) and then the idea pops up from some scientists of a robot exo-suit for people to use as a compromise to keep this idea alive.. using robot bodies to increase work output but keeping the human in control... and the rest is history. (just copy what patlabor did but present it in a way that says this is brand new emerging tech that might be used for the future as opposed to making it commonplace like the petit suits in UC) Now the protesters don't have any excuse to say robotic workers are unsafe since the people who control the suit take the responsibility for the job. But then the paranoid ones in the extremist groups decide to destroy these suits anyway because they don't like them, and that can explain how these never took off: due to scares of its safety or some other BS reason they can come up with to convince the watcher that exosuits existed back in AD times in some form, just not designed to be mass produced for the purpose of fighting in war at that stage since it was just an early experiment. A few get made in limited quantity, some sold on the blackmarket and modified, and people really don't like the idea of them due to limitations and dangers. (and it is not revisited until humanity decides it needs to get off the overpopulated earth, but never again reffered to as exosuits) The prequel might explore the theme of the danger of the misuse of the exosuit and maybe have terrorist attacks (appleseed?) using these which pose a unique threat where they can act as a form of new body armor making some weapons ineffecitve against criminals that use them. Who cares about going into space with it, when there could be more obvious advantages to them. (ie the increased strength, the hobbyists feeling of power to be inside one, ability to explore with it etc) -

Nasty zeon always taking credit for being the first with everything. Have a scene of them actually burning files and destroying any evidence of the old types ever having come up with anything great, just so the zeon can make themselves feel smarter than the unevolved oldtypes. (zaku mobile suits have always looked more primitive to me than the gundam and gm ones to be honest. Proof that living on earth with gravity as nature intended makes you smarter.) -
Interesting. But I bet this thread gets moved to anime/sci fi. Fans of the show should be happy. edit: something about the orguss chest reminds me of the pokeballs that are used to catch pokemon from the pokemon cartoon. here is an image of a pokeball from pokemon: http://www.serebii.net/pokemon_advance/pok...ls/pokeball.gif Now compare the chest of it to this: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10055469a8/20/4 freaky eh?
