  1. That's a great look on that gerwalk. You did an awesome job combining those kits, but the paint and decals really make the model. Where did those hands come from?
  2. I think it looks great. I bet some panel lining would really finish it up. You could go with strong black panel lines to keep with the anime look or some subtle grey panel lining and it would look more realistic. Anyway, nice job.
  3. That's a great looking build. Especially for using that mediocre kit. Thanks for sharing. Job well done!
  4. John, That looks awesome! I can't wait to see it on a shelf in my house. Somewhere safe so that the kiddies can't get to it. I hope the pilot arrives soon. If it doesn't arrive by this weekend, PM me and I can send another. I'll send it with some tracking and confirmation this time.
  5. Wow, its going on two weeks. I didn't use any special service when I sent it. It was just in a regular envelope with some extra cardboard for padding so I didn't think that any special treatment would be needed. I am in St. Louis MO though so I guess its not too outrageous that it hasn't arrived yet. Hope it arrives soon. That fantastic model you built deserves a pilot to make it ready for action.
  6. I had to go for the regult. We need some good detailed models of enemy mecha! I do anyway!
  7. Looking fantastic John! That's all I can say!
  8. Wow John, That valk is looking great! I really like the grey scheme and especially the grey kite symbol. It's great fun to watch your progress on the model. BTW, the pilot is on his way to his new duty station and should arrive in a few days!
  9. I've used a product called Greased Lightning! to strip paint from old models. soak the parts for 2 or 3 hours and the paint usually comes right off. For really tough paint I let soak overnight and then there's no problem. It also seems to gently debond the glue too so that most parts easily pop apart and are ready to be reassembled. I believe it is biodegradeable and gentle on skin. I use rubber gloves just to be safe, but I've never had any problem when the liquid did get on my skin. I've picked it up at Wal-Mart and even at Big Lots(cheap)!
  10. my little brother had one of those Matchbox POS valks. It was his only robotech toy and he loved it. After a while, I persuaded him to let me try and make it transformable. I completely butchered it (I was about 12 years old) and he was sooo P-d off! Oh well, he got over it and the toy probably deserved to be mutilated anyway (big piece of sh**) Besides he destroyed enough fo my toys when we were kids.
  11. That's a great diorama! But if I were those soldiers, I'd get outta the vicinity 'cause you know that CF will draw all the fire while Roy an dhis VF-1s is actually killing some bad guys! Seriously though the valk looks great too! I really like the faded/shaded areas on the gunpod.
  12. AWESOME!!!!! Thanks Rob! I can't believe I actually won something let alone the grand prize! This is awesome! Thanks for this whole project! Words really cannot express my joy at this news. Now I will be eagerly waiting for the masterpiece to arrive. I'll need to plan a display space. I'll need to finish more models to go along with it. I'll need to explain to my wife why it's so cool! Really guys this project looks amazing. I am really shocked that I won. Thanks so much for getting this project together. Congrats to all the winners and well done to Rob, John and Jesse. Thanks again, Bill
  13. Instructions look great! Love the Samurai Monkey! (nothing tops monkeys for fun in my book) It's really cool to see the results of a dedicated and professional group putting this project together. Thanks Guys. Rob, I'm sending you a PM about the raffle.
  14. I'd like to have a set of them as long as they're inexpensive. I'm sure I could think of something to do with them.
  15. I'm definitely interested in one, maybe two depending on price. LMK P.S. Anymore TV style 1/48 hands still available?
  16. That's looking really cool! Can't wait to see the finished item. Repainting these cheapo bootlegs can really turn them into a nice looking model. I bet the Krylon fusion will help with the toy holding its pose too. A nice thick sturdy paint should make the joints just that much tighter. Keep us posted on your progress!

Me too! This is a figure I would be interested in.
  18. First and foremost, we all need to remember that we build models for fun. If you are having fun by building kits and if you enjoy the end results then the model is great. I think some constructive criticism is in order here. We aren't all as good as master Cheng. I've built some of those models in the past. They are very hard to work with and not of the best quality. The parts line up so poorly, that you would need to spend hours sanding the seams. I think you have a good start on the Super-1A, aside from the seams. The colors are accurate, and you have given a nice shading/weathering effort. The armored battloid seems dirty/dusty(dirt really shows up in pictures) and could use a more subtle weathering technique. Sometimes less is more. I would suggest that you try some of the 1/100 Arii models. They are relatively cheap and easy to find and at that size, they are much easier to work with. The fighters are pretty accurate, gerwalk and battloid, not so much, but they will provide good experience. Then try a hasegawa! Starting with a superior kit will put you much farther on your way to superior results Please keep posting, there are many members of this forum that share great techniques, and I like to see as many examples from as many different modelers as possible. Thanks for sharing!
  19. Haven't read any comics in a while because of the continual price increases, but I have to agree that Wolvie on the Avengers is a bad idea. He is probably my favorite character, but he is becoming as watered down as MLB pitching talent. I can see Spidey on the team though because he should bring a lot of fun and interpersonal action/storyline between the members. The biggest problem I think with comics lately though have been the super long, extra convoluted, multiple book crossover storylines. Why can't we have the simple three or four issue storylines anymore that gave an entertaining story with action and a definite outcome (good guys win, bad guy is caught or sent scampering badly defeated). I like complex characters, but I think a little simplification would be great for the industry, these are comic books for chrissakes! Just my $.02
  20. This looks fantastic! Looks like the wife will be getting that "date night" she's been asking for!
  21. Nothing wrong, just a different interpretation I think. The picture looks great. I really like the pose and it is rendered perfectly! I agree that it doesn't look exactly like every other picture of Misa but it is an excellent job.
  22. Is there a pilot or a little cyclone included?
  23. Hey, these are cool. What scale are the ground crew originally? Are these from a kit or purchased as is? I would love to see some pics with the valk to judge how well they look together. More Pics please!
  24. That's a great job! I was thinking the same as Bobe-pat, that a regular valk chest stripe in BA yellow would look nice. It's a great tribute to the awesome pilots of the Blue Angels. Thanks for sharing the pics.
