it's one of those jokes that was amusing at first, and then gets old and tired.. but you keep at it and keep on with it, long after all the humor has been extracted from it, until everyone is sick of it, and then miraculously, it becomes funny again.

it's just naruto after the 3 year time jump. the kids are grown up, updated character designs, new abilities... following back up on sasuke storyline. no more fillers! woohoo!

well, those episodes did spend sometime giving insight into the various abilities and temperaments of the characters... which is nice, since naruto is a character driven show and all. I'm liking the the new naruto series as well, I can't wait till the naruto and sasuke rematch.

saw it last night. i liked it overall.. I thought black heart was a little goofball and overplayed but all in all, it was a fun movie. Everyone seemed to be having fun and there while there was nothing special about it, it never pretended to be anything more than a fun popcorn flick.

wow.. a no win for BSG... they focus on plot for a few episodes and people batty that they lost their way, lost the magic, why can't it be more like season 1? blah blah... and now they deliver a great character driven episode and one that really gets into the head of adama and now we get to hear the cries of:filler filler! **more to do with what I've been reading on other sites then here... I'm sure everyone on this site loved this episode for it's careful character study of adama.

I think one of the BIG problems with the CG in shadow was how stiff and linear the camera moves were. Shows like firefly and BSG really showed how you could make CG sequences look more true to life by having more organic camera moves.

I would have to imagine that the "average" fan would be more put off by the high price point and poor construction of the alpha and VF-1s... when I worked for a toy store, I would have people look at the toynami stuff all excited and keen to relive their childhood and then walk away after actually handling the toy.

The topic of this thread is Yamato Price Gouging Rant... not, I bougth a yamato toy and it broke on me. These are DIFFERENT topics. There are already threads dedicated to people who already bought a yamato product only to have it break on them. Check out my avatar, I am not some yamato sympathizer.. every post I make serves partially as a warning to people considering buying a Vf-0. What we are debating here is yamato is yamato price point.

well, quality and price are not always linked... many high end products are notorious for having poor build quality... english cars come to mind. I'm not saying this excuses yamato, my big grief is that their quality has gone in reverse since the 1/48 VF-1 was first introduced. And again... it doesn't matter what the "actual" costs are, the price set by the manufacturer is based on what they think the market can bear, not on some math formula based on materials and labor. Stuff like sunglass have very very very low materials costs but have HUGE retail mark ups. why? because people are willing to pay the cost and the companies are willing to let us.

QC issues aside, the VF-0 is my current favorite toy incarnation of a valkyrie.. more than the VF-1 or the YF-19, I think the yamato sculpt is near perfect and I would LOVE to have one all bundled up in this sumo suit. 2. as for price point.. I'm going to guess it's going to cost over 100 USD in North America. 3/4. Probably.. my 2 VF-0s are floppy messes... I doubt they would retain any posability with the added weight. 5. no idea... but there are some big slots behind the chest plate that the chest armor could slide into.

Having also worked in retail where 90% of our goods came from overseas... I think sketchley is definitely on the right path with what yamato takes home. What I find disturbing is this notion that yamato needs to account for what they charge. This stuff isn't bread and milk.. these are luxury goods and yamato can charge whatever they want. If yamato want's to charge 50 bucks for a light up pen and some plastic, that's their right. It OUR right to decide if that plastic is worth it to US. If it's not, OH WELL, don't buy it then. These things aren't life saving medicines, these aren't basic staples for life, these are toys. Debating about the relative worth of their toys is fine and dandy... and I'm sure there are plenty of people who think 50 bucks is a fair price and they'll buy it. Good for them and there will some people who think 50 bucks is too much and won't buy it... fine for them as well. It's our choice and right as a consumer. If you think that some retailer is ripping you off, go buy it from someone else. If you think it's suspicious that everyone is selling the same item within 5% of each other... well, maybe there's a reason... if you think the reason has to do with small rooms, sweaty fatty white guys smoking sigars, then go file a complaint with the better business bureau or try to have them investigated for collusion or something. But arguing about yamatos business practices, or comparing them to some other company selling a toy based off a different license is just all so much intellectual masturbation. We don't have the information, we're not going to get the information and even if we had the information, the second it gets put up on a public forum, i bet there will be a nice cease and desist coming down the pipes.

OT but, there's actually great star wars comic that uses this gag... palpatine decides against adding the rails becuase it would add too much to the bottom line and tells vadar that he's counting on him to keep him safe.
