  1. What??? Where do you get that? There's nothing even moving in the shot, there's nothing to suggest it was in space and there's nothing to suggest that the space physics are going to be wonky. Again... missing the point of the trailer.
  2. The teaser definitely makes it look like they were building the enterprise on the ground. And I think people are missing the point. The point of the trailer was misdirection... make it look like something other than a ST movie until the big reveal and then close with the humorous "under construction". But then again, I know there are legions of trekkies, hold up'd in their parent's basements... just looking for something to nerd out about. What's to say this shot will even be in the final cut?
  3. hmm, when did the 1/48 come out and when did binaltech and the MP line come out? hmmm... hmmmm. But thanks for completely missing the point of Sumdumgai's post. He was saying the Yamato toys took the dumbed down and kiddiefied valkyrie toy market and made anime accurated, high end collectible toys... up'd the ante from what bandai had been producing. Not up'd the ante on the market in general. But even if you want to play that game, the 1/48 came out the year before the Binaltech and MP line came out.
  4. you couldn't have made this movie without the shaky cam. Are we really supposed to believe that some random business guy had a steady cam and rig just lying around his place and that his friends would strap it on and use that to film going away messages? The whole point of this movie was to have an eyes on the ground and to be from the perspective of the characters. Having smooth steady cam shots would have popped that conceit right away.
  5. nah, it's there. Right before the movie ends, behind Beth's face there's a quick splash in the ocean. I've never been to manhattan.. so I have no idea how big the island is.... but that monster seemed to spend an awful amount of time around wherever Beth was.
  6. saw it, liked it. Not the benchmark monster movie some people are hyping it out to be, but a pretty good movie all the same.
  7. Your mom is starting a pissing match.
  8. wow. but i feel like it should open up or have some gimmicks.
  9. And thanks to that BS lawsuit, we can't even get a proper status report of Live's status.
  10. If those are GE halogen lamps, the UV output from them are supposed to be very minimal. Though heat is an issue.
  11. vf-25 vf-5000 vf-11b vf-171
  12. maybe the shipping will be 100 dollars... no seriously, where did you get that deal?
  13. That's pretty fair. Early on, it takes a lot of time getting from one place to another and most quests will do things like have you go from one place on the map to another. And since you'll be walking everywhere the first few levels... it takes a while. Later on, you'll be able to fly from town to town but by that time you'll be going into instances that take a while to clear out. And in the end game... it can take 2 hours just to get everybody ready to go into the instance... let alone the 5 hours it will take you to actually clear it.
  14. The movie also has several exposition scenes designed to give new viewers the same information. Tacking on the intro to the video game is just redundant and makes hikaru look like an idiot. Well, bigger idiot.
  15. Hmmm, I guess I tivo'd the wrong channel then... sucks for me.
  16. Maybe there was a cut scene where the bank blows up or something after they time travel out? I was kind of confused because River says they're in the same 'where' just a different 'when' yet clearly they're not in a bank vault. So maybe the bank blew up and they just carted the debris away and no one noticed the 6 foot tall robot skeleton and then it conveniently just sat around on top of the trash heap for 7 years? I like the show, despite the giant plot holes... well, I'm just happy whenever there's new sci-fi programming on the tv. Though, i wish they had shot it in 16:9 and given it the HD treatment. Bones and House looks great so I was sad to see that this show didn't get the same love from Fox.
  17. Well, I think HD-DVD people got greedy. They talk about how much cheaper the hd-dvds were to manufacture but didn't pass those savings onto consumers. They should have sold the discs at 25$ retail and sold ONLY the combo discs and completely phased out SD DVDs. If they had included the 2nd disc of SE content at the 30 dollar pice point, then consumers would have a built-in upgrade path.
  18. But how did the body go from the bank to the dump? And why were the cops just standing there while the terminator pounded on the bank vault for 5 minutes?
  19. I've actually always thought the HD-DVD library was superior to the BD library... with the HUGE exception of the Disney/Pixar libraries. I'd rather have the Bourne trilogy over Spiderman and movies like eastern promises and the kingdom are much more interesting to me then resident evil. And now, while I wanted to buy the director's edition of Zodiac, I'll just wait out Paramount's HD-DVD trist until I can get it on BD. I'm hoping Disney doesn't make us wait to long before the Studio Ghibli collection makes its way to BD.
  20. I liked MI:III, much better than the 2nd movie and it brought back the whole teamwork aspect.
  21. Well, in DYRL, Hikaru asks Misa what the wreckage is, and she tells him it's the prometheus (as par Hurin's translation) so that would be the only continuity error I see. If Hikaru had been stationed on it, I would assume he would have recognized his own carrier especially since it appears to have been cut in half like we see in the game intro. Well, and the game intro seems to take place in open water and I don't see how half a carrier could make it to shore...
  22. what? the hell, what version of mass effect was he playing? Where can I get a copy... for uhm... research purposes.
  23. Well, south park has a much easier format... just make fun of other people. As for Simpson's versus family guy... god, it's not like simpsons didn't rip off flinstones which ripped off the honeymooners. As other people have stated, it's all an incestuous family and they rip each other off.
  24. Huh, I guess more people are telling 'lies' about BD. Some people appear not happy that early BD players can't properly play 1.1 or 2.0 version BD discs: http://www.betanews.com/article/Bluray_Ear...into/1199841379 Hopefully some BD enthusiasts can email these poor saps and just tell them they're the victim of lies and just lack first hand knowledge.
  25. http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/01/11/the-po...owered-by-cell/ interesting read on an HDTV that uses a CELL processor as its DSP.
