Wow, I can't believe that I got so many replies! Anyway, the schemes I really like are Milia's, the CF, and Hikaru's 1J. To be honest, I'm sick of the boring DYRL colors. And of course the Low-Viz iz cool, but it's not from the animation. I don't really see myself getting any of the previously released valks because they're just too expensive now. Of course, if anyone knows where I could get a Cheap Milia or Hikaru...yeah, right. Oh yeah, Agent One: I AM a fan of Robotech. It's what got me into Macross.

*Gasp* Calvin and Hobbes! I love them! Even though I have all of the treasuries, I still want this set. It's beautiful!

I've been putting off buying a 1/48 but they are just too beautiful. I need to get one while I have the chance. My plan is to get the CF from HLJ when it comes out, and also the Fast Pack set. If I like that one enough, and I have the money, I'll get the GBP set too. Is there anything I should know before I do this? Like better places to buy from, or cooler versions of the VF coming out later, or fragile areas on the 1/48 I should be careful with? Thanks!

I think the only thing I could have done better would be to use stiffer transparency paper (if it exists). There is one slight "wave" or "buckle" in the window because the plastic wasn't laid perfectly flat. Stiff paper could have helped me avoid that.

Alright, the project is finished! Now I wish I had taken a "before" picture, because it looks pretty great. I used double-sided tape that is supposedly "photo safe" so it shouldn't corrode the box or plastic. I used transparency paper ($.50 from Staples for one sheet) and it worked fine. Here's two pics: one with flash and one without.

trust me, he's got the whole vf-1 line down. So now is a good time to start thinking about regults. 318230 Yeah, think about it: a Rohby VF-1, then a Rohby Regult. A Rohby Armored VF-1, then a Rohby Glaug. A Rohby VF-4, then a Rohby Q-Rau. The pacing is perfect! After the hard work of making a transforming Valk, he gets a break and makes a non-transforming villain. Since it's probably cheaper to make battle pods & power armors, we'll just buy doubles of those. So this way, we're happy and Rohby gets to make a living! Now we just have to talk Rohby into it...

Me three! Where be da picz?! -
I was just watching Macross, and I realized who's really hot: That long-haired red head who operates the pinpoint-barrier system. I have no idea what her name is.

Hey, I got an old Takatoku recently, and everything is great except for the ripped up plastic window. I'd like to restore it, and it seems that the plastic window is about the same size as an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper. So I was thinking I could just use transparency paper. Has anyone ever tried this? Is there a better way? Aslo, what glue would bond the box cardboard to the transparent sheet?

I love it! I hope that, when our Earth population gets annihilated, I'm still around to "do my duty" for the human race.

What about this: I always used to hear that Milia/Miriya killed Roy, but I still don't see how this is true.
-
That's exactly what I was going to suggest!

Hey Bobe, way to ruin a good fantasy. For anyone who cares, I found this unfinished project for a SD Regult. It looks pretty damn cool. If the legs were finished, it'd be beautiful. http://www.studio-epsilon.com/regult/reg3.htm

We will....ve-1 and vt-1 I mean . 317818 Really, they're going to make 1/48 Elints and Ostriches?
-
Wait...I'm not done dreaming. I'm imagining a Rohby Armored VF-1 next to a Rohby Fastpack VF-11 & Rohby Armored VF-11...
-
I hereby nominate Rohby to continue his line of toys with a VF-4 up next followed by a VF-11. Maybe I'm dreaming, but I'd buy them!

Yeah, does anyone know how tall this sucker is?

What did Anime Friend do? 316432 They did the crappy animation you'll notice on some episodes of Macross. Apparently Studio Nue subcontracted to them or something.

Hells yeah. I don't care what anyone says, the Robotech background music is absolutely gorgeous. I hate Harmony Gold, but I love Robotech. That trailer looks so good, I'm willing to give them a chance to make me believe in them.
-
That's cause you've just got to hit that...over and over. And her red valks are the coolest.
-
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!!!! Okay. I don't know what to say. That was beautiful. Robotech, coming back if full glory. Beautiful animation, nicely integrated CGI. I'm blown away. I got goosebumps. Bottom line: When I saw the trailer for Star Wars: Phantom Menace, I was very worried. I'm not worried about this. PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN!

Hey...yeah, I think I got my VF-2SS from them too! I forgot about that. I still have that thing somewhere. I'm glad some other people remember those catalogs.

Back in the early nineties around the time Macross II came out, I used to get black & white pamphlet-like catalogs in the mail from a store called Newtype (which I discovered through an ad in "Animag"). I believe the store was somewhere in California, and they sold all kinds of anime (or "japanimation" for us old folks) robot models and toys. The catalogs were standard sized paper, folded and stapled in the center like a booklet. The "cover" was a colored piece of paper and always had some cool mech design on it. This was pre-internet, and I think the catalog was made with a type-writer and copy machine, but I absolutely loved getting them. The few b&w pictures in the catalog were always a thrill. I think the first one I got had the VF-2J on the cover. The only thing I ever got from that catalog was the release Mospeada VR-052 "Cyclone" for only $40. That thing was a treasure until my dumb-ass friend (who I told never to touch it) broke it on purpose. I just remembered, I actually called the guy who owned the store and asked him what "Super deformed" meant, because they had cheap transforming SD valks. He didn't speak fluent english, and he told me that SD meant "cute, like baby." If I could go back in time, I'd buy their whole stock of SD valks. *Sigh* Any other totally random memories form the time that "japanimation" was still exotic and hard to find?

Okay, I have to ask two questions... 1) How the hell do you get Mari Ijima to come to your party? I imagine her time is worth something. 2) Isn't Macross over 20 years old now? That means Mari Ijima must be like 40. In those pics, she looks barely...legal. How old is she anyway?

Okay, Takara couldn't blow away Yamato sculpts. But they could do about 10% better, I think. Takara could blow away Yamato in terms of QC and overall coolness factor, IMO. Sorry, the Yamato toys just don't impress me much.
