    I'm guessing it's the higher ups calling it "good enough" at a certain point. Just like they do with video games. The designers could do better with more time and more money, but they don't get more, because why would they? Profits come first, and people are still going to buy this stuff no matter how mediocre it is.

    Obviously the MPs are generally really good. Which is why I mostly buy those.

    Wow, HasTak is really phoning it in. After 40 years of tech advancement, improvements in CAD software, rapid prototyping, cheaper plastics, etc, it's just not enough for them. They need to go cheaper. They're still going to give you gappy, mediocre toys with major concessions and puzzling deviations from the source material. The robot mode posability and proportions have improved, but nothing else. Alt modes are generally worse than in 1986.

    I had no idea a Japanese company was doing Joe figures! I've been hoping for that to happen, especially for Snake Eyes -- except it's a statue not a posable figure and it's some weird female Snake Eyes. So close yet so far?

    I never realized Ultra Magnus was just Prime in GBP armor! I still want a good version of Ultra (or especially Delta) Magnus that keeps the separate Prime robot. Was super bummed that the MP Magnus didn't.

    So is the Valkyrie the worst of the bunch for these? I got the pencil sharpener versions of the Valkyrie and the Orguss from Cost Plus or something back in the day. I was pretty, uh, not impressed by the Valkyrie. The Orguss seemed to be more faithful to its design at least.

    Yep. Since I had three votes, I used them all on Space. Classic, Blacktron, and Ice Planet.

    I just realized one thing I don't like about this figure. That chest and torso look like they could come from a sofubi toy. Soft and squishy, very rounded, and no sharp detail. Almost like those old shampoo bottles they would make in the 80's in the shape of your favorite characters (not sure if they still make them).

    Speaking of third party mods. I stumbled on to some very questionable things when doing a google image search of third party Arcees. There are some seriously wrong mod parts out there. Things I don't want associated with our hobby! Be careful out there guys!

    This is a problem with most CGI in anime these days. I think a lot of fundamentals of animation have been lost in the transition to cheap CGI. The main thing I think has been lost is the use of acceleration curves. Basically, the animation/movement of models should be defined by a curve. The curve shouldn't be linear, because linear movement is boring. It should be at least a second order polynomial. That gives you the "snap", I think, either when decelerating to a stop or accelerating off the screen.

    How would they improve MP Magnus in your opinion? I almost bought MP Delta Magnus until I realized the cab didn't transform into a separate robot, like the G1. I know they were going for cartoon/movie accuracy and the separate blue Prime clone isn't part of that, but to me it's what made the original toy so cool. Anyway I hope there's an Earthrise Delta Magnus, assuming ER Magnus has the separate robot like the Siege toy has. Anyone know if there's a good 3rd party Delta Magnus with separate blue transforming cab?

    I wonder if the pictured toy is misassembled. The wings look like maybe they'd be fine if they were swapped.
