  1. I'm warning you, David, that's how it starts. When my wife and I moved into our first place after college and the wedding, we started with my old 19" Montgomery Ward TV and her off-brand 20". First thing we did was buy a Panasonic 27" CRT with progressive scan, then a really basic Samsung HTIB. After we got on our feet and started having more disposable income, we bought a 57" Toshiba DLP TV, which worked out great since the Xbox 360 was coming out. After I got a PS3 and I needed more HDMI ports, I bought a still very modest 900w Sony receiver and speakers. After we buy a house, I'm thinking to either get a new TV or a projector. And after that, Paradigm speakers, and... well, a new receiver, but I'd be hard-pressed to pick a brand now. It's like once your video hits a certain level, you want better audio to match. When you're satisfied with your audio, you start to think of how to improve the video again.
  2. This DVD release of one of my all-time favorite films is... tempting. But I spent a fortune on the Criterion version when it first came out. I'll probably just hang on to it, outdated or not, until a Blu-ray release.
  3. Close. I found it, but they're in Character Model, not Model Graphics.
  4. I used to have some slick images saved, but I lost them all when I got rid of my old computer. I thought I had them saved to a disc, but I apparently don't have the disc, so... Anyone have some lineart of the SW-XA1 Schneeblume and the SW-XAII Schneegans? If I recall correctly, they were from some modeling magazine.
  5. Oh, tell me about it! I found a used copy for $20, and I figured that reviewers are usually hard on Sonic (and I loved both DC Sonic Adventures), so maybe it wasn't that bad. Amazingly, it was worse. The camera makes the game damn near unplayable.
  6. Average 73%. And PSM's score would actually drag that down. It's worth noting that Play Magazine gave it a 9/10, so it might very well be a love it or hate it kind of thing. I think I'll hold off for the demo, though.
  7. I'm in if you're in, David. Anyone else want in this squadron?
  8. Things couldn't have gone too poorly for Isamu, or they wouldn't have selected the YF-19. Maybe a symbolic slap on the wrist, like Kirk got when they demoted him from Admiral in the movies.
  9. That's an amazing collection, but I don't know, man... yeah, MISB is worth more, but only if you plan on selling them. For me, not only do I not plan on selling them, setting them up in cool poses on my desk(s) is half the fun. A Transformer in a box is just begging to be played with. Yeah, I think I got lucky with my trip, because the only Kohl's for 20 miles where I live is in the middle of nowhere. It's like if you're going to go, you actually have to make a conscious decision to go to Kohl's, not just swing buy while you're out someplace else. Even then, it was packed with parents doing last minute school shopping, but I still don't think it mattered. The toy section is like one rack hidden away in the infants section. I was in the store for almost a half hour before I even found it.
  10. Which is awesome news for the three people in the world actually looking forward to it. Good on you, fellas, I'm going to be playing Ace Combat.
  11. Dynasty Warriors Gundam. If you like Dynasty Warriors, or Gundam, then you pretty much know what you're getting into. Lair, on the other hand, seems to be all hype and no substance.
  12. Kohl's really is the place to find Transformers these days! I finally snagged a Camaro Concept Bumblebee (and he's hella better than the old Camaro Bumblebee). I could have bought Arcee, Swindle, and Wreckage too, but my wife would have killed me very dead very fast.
  13. Classics is now under the Universe banner, but from what I've heard, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, and Octane are all coming. I'd like to get my hands on Encore Prime, but he's already going for $80-100 online. That that kind of money, I might as well just track down an original G1 Prime.
  14. Don't forget Max and Millia being in both Macross and Macross 7. If Max can start as a pilot and end up captain, who's to say Gamlin couldn't have done the same thing?
  15. Well, with Frontier coming out, and with another class of colony vessel, perhaps there's a fourth class that's gone unmentioned that was in service between the Megaroad and New Macross launches. Or, the information is flawed. Yeah, I know the Macross Compendium lists 13 and 13, but where did Egan get that info from? Even if it's from an official source, there's always the possibility that the source is still in error. Unless another canon show/movie/OVA retcons it, the narrator tells us plainly on screen that the Macross 7 fleet was launched in 2037, and was the 37th such mission. BTW, the Compendium also lists the first New Macross as launching in 2030, and in the Megaroad entry it states that one or two were constructed per year and that they were launched routinely. If we assume that they kept building and launching Megaroads until they replaced them with the New Macross, then we'd have between 18 and 36 Megaroads. If the 7th New Macross fleet was the 37th colony fleet, one could expect 30 Megaroad fleets. Or, using the same info, even allowing for only one Megaroad launch per year, we'd only get to a maximum of 2025; since two were sometimes built, it's likely that all 13 were launched well before then (perhaps as early as 2018). It seems unlikely that the UN would stop launching colony fleets, only to resume again later. Another unknown class launched from the early 2020's to 2030 at the same rate as the Megaroads would easily fill the missing 17 fleets (Yes, 17. Macross 7 was the 37; I'd assume 8-13 would come after, and 37 - 7 New Macross fleets - 13 Megaroads = 17) Finally, although less related to how Macross 7 could be the 37th colony fleet, are we sure that there were only 13 New Macross ships total, or merely 13 by VF-X2, which until Frontier was announced was as far as the timeline went? Perhaps more were built in the 2050's. Also, does 13 refer to the battle sections, the colony sections, or both?
  16. That's no excuse to make a game look like @$$. Yeah, we get it, the Wii isn't capable of the same slick HD visuals that the PS360s are cranking out. But when I first saw screens for Cruis'n, I thought it was a game for cell phones.
  17. Yeah, I had the hardest time trying to find Jetfire when Classics were all the rage. Now the Transformers section isn't anything but Jetfire, Classics Voyager Prime, and amazingly enough, movie Voyager Prime and Voyager Megatron. I'd be more excited about the Prime, except I already picked up the Robo-vision version from Target, and I think the lighter blue looks better.
  18. I thought I could take a pass, because I don't actually have any Macross toys or models. Now I realize it's just because I'm too lazy to import the good ones and too occupied buying Transformers instead.
  19. I've always thought that was kind of stupid, and that you wouldn't see people in Japan wearing shirts that they couldn't read. Until you start seeing stuff like t-shirts for young girls with cute teddy bears and English text like "Please to eat cock." There you go, Graham. You can buy the shirt, secure in a translation.
  20. Did anyone read the news that the Wii is now (barely) leading the next-gen console war? The Xbox 360's sold in America is still outselling the Wii in America, or any other territory, but the Wii has taken the worldwide lead because almost nobody bought a 360 in Japan. Both consoles are enjoying total sales that have outpaced the PS3 by slightly more than 2:1.
  21. You know what's funny is, at the time, $200 seemed ridiculous for it. But now I can't wait to pay that much for Rock Band. Go figure. Meanwhile, I'm wondering if the following news will do anything to win over traditionally PlayStation gamers in America... or to win over anybody at all in Japan... Nippon Ichi Software to develop for Xbox 360.
  22. See, the thing is, I'm sure to batty and moan about how lame the new cartoon is... while DVR-ing every episode and buying half the toys. Dammit, I just realized I'm a fanboy!
  23. Warriors, warriors, everywhere. And not a sword to stab them with.
  24. Yeah, and you just know those damn rebels are all battying about tolerance and political correctness. My vote's for totalitarianism, where the only beliefs I have to respect are the ones the government tells me to.
  25. Hey, where'd you find the colors for the other prototype YF-19 and YF-21? I actually really like the 19's colors.
