  1. It's not critical, but I get more enjoyment out of racing games and FPS with rumble.
  2. Logitech already has a controller out for the PS3 with rumble, but it lacks motion control. It looks almost identical to the Cordless Precision controller for the PS2. I own it myself. Whereas the CP controller for PS2 was clearly superior to the Dual Shock 2 in every conceivable way, the jury's still out for me on their PS3 controller, because it has a few flaws. +Solid controller +Better play on the face buttons -Isn't actually BlueTooth; works with a USB dongle -Can't turn the console on with it -No Sixaxis motion function makes it useless for some games
  3. Don't count on it. Have you started Original mode yet? I have one mission left for Jerid, then I have to beat it with Roux and Puru Two, and then I'll have finished both Official and Original with everyone. And as of now, I have just over 51 hours in.
  4. Well, here's hoping the next Gundam game for the PS3 is better.
  5. Oh, don't get me wrong, MGS looks like a fantastic game and it's sure to drive some hardware sales. I just don't think after Microsoft has their Halo boost and Nintendo has their Smash Bros. boost that it's going to make a difference when worldwide sales have the Xbox 360 and Wii both ahead by more than double the PS3's sold. And if anyone's wondering, the combined numbers from the NPD, Enterbrain, and GFK through the end of July in the US and Europe and the end of August in Japan put the worldwide sales as follows: Wii: 9.02 million 360: 8.8 million PS3: 3.7 million. I don't know how much margin they leave for error, though. I think a lot of people still want to predict a win for Sony because they've dominated the industry for so long, they just expect the trend to continue. But if that were the case, we'd be gaming on Atari consoles.
  6. Mine charges for awhile, then complete shuts down. And besides, I don't feel like making the system work if it doesn't have to, what with all those red rings going around. I do a lot of bittorrent, though, so I have one computer that's on 24/7.
  7. Man, I hate eBay. Well, since it's a knock off, maybe my wife can find one for me when she goes to visit her parents in China.
  8. Thanks, Az. Saves me the trouble of popping into the Games section. I'd alternated units anyway, so you don't have to waste Ace Points on repairs. I managed to upgrade the YF-19, YF-21, and Focker's VF-1S fairly evenly, so I always had a solid VF no matter the mission. While, as an ACE game, the combat does seem more geared toward Battroids, I find fighter mode invaluable in getting from point to point in a hurry. Other units I'd like to use I made fly as my wingmen, that way they'd get experience without my having to suffer from their weaker stats. Once my main three were maxed, I could pump points into my wingmen, and then start using them whenever I replayed the game.
  9. Exactly. You have a square field for an "operation area" and you're given a mission. Missions could be destroying all targets, destroying specific targets, protecting targets, etc. There are some that are more interesting, like one where you have to disable a Gallop to capture it. Each Mobile Suit has a main weapon, melee weapon, and sub weapon, and some can even switch main weapons (like the RX-78 can use a beam rifle, or a hyper bazooka... useful for stuff like using the beam rifle to take out the grunts before switching to the bazooka to take out the Byg Zam). You also can charge up a bar to do special moves that do more damage. My one gripe about Battle Royale was that you only earn upgrade points for a Mobile Suit if you use it instead of having upgrade points in a universal pool, plus you'd get maybe 75-150 upgrade points per mission and the cost of increasing an ability went up the higher it was, often costing 20-40 points to go up by 1. So, even when you'd unlock a cool new Mobile Suit, you wouldn't want to use it. When I played it on the Federation side, I went GM-Gundam-Alex, and ignored a ton of other cool MS. I hope they fixed that in Chronicle, because otherwise it was definitely one of the better Gundam games I've played. If Crossfire would have been more like it, it could have went from one of the crappiest games on the PS3 to a solid launch title that might have justified my purchase of the console a lot sooner.
  10. Cheer up, David, maybe you'll get the red rings again soon. If you send it back now, you should get the replacement in time for Ace Combat 6. Do you actually play with your 360? I went through two sets of batteries the first week I owned my 360, so I bought the Play and Charge kit, and by now it's undoubtedly paid for itself. As for the cable hanging off your system, if you really can't deal with a wired controller once in awhile when your system needs charged, do what I do: when your gaming session is over, plug it into a PC that's on. USB is USB. My advice is to just buy the one at Target with the coupon. 10% is $35, no small discount. Costco's bundle probably sucks anyway, and the Play and Charge kit is the only accessory I'd recommend. The Premium really comes with everything else you need to get started. Save your money for more games. And I wouldn't worry too much about getting a newer chipset. Not only should they be in stores by now, as JB0 mentioned, but as long as you buy a new console, it's guaranteed for 3 years against the red rings of death. A pain in the ass, to be sure, but most people are reporting that Microsoft handles the whole thing pretty well, if a little slow now due to being backed up on repairs.
  11. That sounds overly optimistic.
  12. Mylene actually implies that she learned to fly from her parents when Basara gets hurt protecting the Rex gang and Mylene flies his VF back to City 7. Hey, a cannon fodder survived the war!
  13. Ah. Well then, Graham, do whatever the heck you want, and you're in for a good time.
  14. That'll teach me not to get my hopes up.
  15. Those are some interesting pics, but where can I actually order one?
  16. I was hoping it'd be a wholly original game built around that mechanic, not a watered-down port with the mechanic tacked in.
  17. It's a little like the Gundam Vs. games, but a little less arcadey, if that makes any sense.
  18. I'd almost rather put this in the Gundam thread, but anyway, Gundam Battle Chronicle (the sequel to Gundam Battle Tactics and Gundam Battle Royale) is coming out in early October. Just as Royale expanded from Tactics by including Zeta in the story, Chronicle looks to be expanding further with more suits from more series. Here's the list so far: Nu Gundam Psyco Gundam Mk. II The O Z Gundam Rick Dom Gundam Ez8 Dom Zaku I GM Gebera Tetra Gundam GP-03 Dendrobium Quebeley Z Plus A1 Gelgoog S (standard) Zaku I (Ramba Ral) GM II (AEUG) Blue Destiny Unit 1 Gouf ZZ Gundam Agguguy Dijeh Z Plus C1 Gundam Mk II (AEUG) Gelgoog S (Char Type) Zaku I (Black Tri-Stars) GM II (Federation Type) Blue Destiny Unit 2 Gelgoog (Johnny Riden Type) Gundam GP-01 Fb Ball Rick Dom (Gato Type) Gundam G3 Gundam Mk II (Titans) Gelgoog Cannon Blue Destiny Unit 3 Zaku II Gelgoog (Shin Matsunaga Type) Gyan Gundam GP-02 Gabthley Baund Doc Gaza-C (Haman Type) Gundam 04 Zaku II (Black Tri-Stars Type) GM (White Dingo) Acguy Elmeth Psyco Gundam Z'Gok (Char Type) Zaku II (Char Type) Methuss Gogg Super Gundam Mk II Hambrabi Gaplant One of the things I liked about this series is how they threw some of the more obscure MS variations in there, and this game's looking to continue the trend. You can check out the official site here. EDIT: There are more playable MS than what's shown in the MS list. I picked a few more out of screenshots, but I'm only listing ones that are definitely playable.
  19. Well, they're civilian-owned, right? And think about what people already do to their cars (extra amusing to me, as I live in kind of a white-trash town, so the kids put giant spoilers, fart cans, and neon on old economy Dodge Omni and strangely don't do anything about the extensive rust, and hang out with other kids with trashy cars at Wal-Mart and kid themselves into thinking they're cool).
  20. Sorry, I already took the B route for my replay. And the way I remember it, it's not a matter of circle or X. The operator will actually give you a choice. Highlight the top one for A, the bottom one for B. EDIT: Graham, you're definitely going to want to stick with A. I didn't see them on Project Phoenix's list, but there's two memorable Macross Plus levels, so they must have been on the A route.
  21. Answered in the PS3 thread. That makes sense. The Halo one comes with the 20GB HD, right?
  22. 1.) As far as I know, a pilot and his skills (which affect your overall stats) carry over to any Mobile Suit you use, and any Mobile Suit parts or experience earned carry over to any other pilot that uses it. 2.) I doubt it's because of any deaths. If they wanted the character to be in the game, they'd have used a sound-alike. They probably didn't feel like making a Core Fighter unit, so there was no point it including her, even at Solomon. I wouldn't know. I watched the whole of Gundam, from the original TV series to SEED Destiny, in Japanese, so I played the game in Japanese.
  23. I'll try to remember what I do for the rest of my second playthrough, but I'm warning you, I'm going all B routes this time. EDIT: Looks like Project Phoenix beat me too it, and did a helluva better job than I would have, too.
  24. When you're right, you're right.
