  1. Dunno if anyone cares or not, but Gamestop/EB Games is giving away for free (they don't even bug for reserves or anything!) a pack of posters... one is for Ace Combat 6.
  2. The dragons look pretty, but I still have zero interest in this game. 300's release on Blu-ray this week may very well be the only thing to have justified my purchase of a PS3 so far. Here's hoping White Knight Story still wows me when it comes out...
  3. It was only $30 at my local Target. At that price, the lack of real gameplay isn't as much of an issue, and then buying not just swimsuits, but matching hats and shoes for Kasumi becomes a guilty pleasure. Ironically, I really don't have too much interest in either of this falls big guns, Halo 3 and GTAIV. What I do want is Dynasty Warriors Gundam, Ace Combat 6, Mass Effect, and Rock Band.
  4. Ah, 1991... it was a good year for 3ft tall robots that fight with hockey sticks and bubble gum. Seriously, though... it's like they took awesome giant robots, and said, "Now how can we make this show as crappy as possible? I know, let's shrink them, add cheesy cliched characters, and have them use the now-shrunk robots use the lamest weapons possible to fight other, more retarded robots and their robot chicken that lays eggs that hatches more robots that belong on the short bus!"
  5. Yeah, you can add me if you want. Pharaohman = mikeszekely, but be warned, I'm probably going to shell out the cash and have it changed so mikeszekely = mikeszekely. Oh, and David... I think this one's for you... Ayane statue with removable clothing.
  6. It's definitely a good deal... unless you already bought in on XBLA. And even then, as great as the game is, I think I played it one too many times. As far as playing it on the PSP goes, I think I can wait until Dracula X comes out on PSP.
  7. Am I the only one who's a little bored with Symphony? I mean, I must have played it a dozen times on the PSone, a handful of times on the PS3, then I bought it from the Xbox Live Arcade. By then, I was just going through the motions... I'm not saying it's a bad game, mind you. In fact, I think it's one of the best games ever made. I've just played it a bit too much.
  8. Ooh, I saw that at Action-HQ... I really want to order it, but I don't want to preorder, since I might be moving and the address I have now might not be the address I have in August.
  9. Yeah, I too want to see games that really make the most of the Wii's unique interface, and I'm glad it's not tanking like the Gamecube. I'm glad that non-gamers are enjoying it, too. But as I said, it's just a million shy of 1st place, and to maximize profits, developers want to go for the biggest installed base. While I don't want the Wii to fail, I fear its success because in a world where the Wii is number one, I'm afraid you're going to see a glut of second-rate Wii Sports knock offs, mini-game collections, and more traditional games with Wii controls haphazardly tacked on.
  10. I got my Pepsi Optimus Prime in the mail today. I think maybe I should have spent a little more to get the Takara Pepsi Convoy, but on the other hand, I'm just giddy to have him. I never had a G1 Prime before, but I had Ultra Magnus... with his trailer/armor on, he was kind of a crappy toy, but I loved turning the cab into "White Optimus." Pepsi Prime brings back all those sweet memories... I seriously think I'm going to have to get the next G1 Prime/Convoy they release.
  11. Radd... I'm not really writing Wii Fit off. If it turns out to be a solid game, I'm sure I'll check it out. What I am saying is that I don't want to see/play a glut of those sorts titles just because Nintendo is playing to a different audience, while more traditional games have Wiimote controls tacked on instead of allowing us to use the classic controller. And, let's be honest... I have a 52" HDTV and a 1000w Sony 5.1 channel receiver. If a game comes out on both the Wii and the 360, even if if does use the classic controller, I'm going to get the 360 version. As for the Wii not being on par with the original Xbox, while their CPU and GPUs have similar clock speeds, the Xbox supported higher resolutions. While they weren't necessarily very common, there were games that supported 720p, and an extreme handful, like Enter the Matrix, even supported 1080i. The Wii only goes up to 480p. The Xbox also supported Dolby Digital, and the Wii only does Pro Logic II. The bottom line isn't that I'm unhappy with my Wii. I very much appreciate the Wii for the unique experiences it can bring to the table. All I'm saying is that the more tradition gaming experiences brought by the 360 are much more likely to be the bulk of my gaming, and I like it that way.
  12. Your arguments are all very good, but I still can't shake the feeling that the Wii is becoming kind of a fad. I mean, the price helps, and I really do think that $300 is still the sweet spot for a console, but a lot of people, especially less traditional gamers, are buying into the gimmick. And like I said, that works great for some games... I really love Wii Sports Tennis and Bowling... but it's also leading to stuff like Wii Fit, or having the waggle tacked onto games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance. And going for an inexpensive console is still no reason to give us a console who's graphics aren't even quite up to the original Xbox's level. Like I said, I don't really have anything against the Wii. I love it for what it does well, and I'm looking forward to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime 3 as much as the next guy. Heck, I even have a PS3, although I've used it more for Blu-ray and Linux than as a game console, there's still stuff like Heavenly Sword I want. But between now and Christmas, the vast majority of the games I want happen to be 360 exclusive, or multi-platform. And when a game is multi-platform, Xbox Live will have me getting the 360 version 99% of the time.
  13. Sorry, I just completed the next-gen set with a PS3, so I'm kinda fiddling with that. As for the AC6 themes, no F-22s. Much as I love the Ace Combat games, I went with the G1 Decepticon theme instead
  14. I might get a PSP Slim. I have custom firmware on the PSP I already have. It'd be nice to keep it that way for homebrew, and have the newer model with all the official firmware updates. But the whole TV out thing? Not only is it something they should have included from the get go, but frankly, PSP on the TV through the PS3 (via USB) is a feature they should have included with the PS3 from the get go. Third time's the charm...
  15. I actually shudder to think that the Wii is pulling ahead to take the lead in the console wars. It's a fun little system, to be sure, and I'm glad I bought it. But I bought it for the unique experience it could offer, and just because I crave something different now and again, I'm still more of a traditional gamer. I want 75% of my games in HD with Dolby Digital sound and a trusty ol' gamepad. I'll settle for 480p Gamecube-ish graphics, Pro Logic II, and a gimmicky controller only if that controller really adds something to the experience, like Wii Sports.
  16. I don't know about that. I absolutely swear that DVDs look better on my 360 than my PS3. My 360's a launch-day unit (maybe the only one left that hasn't had the red ring of death), and I have it hooked up via component. My PS3, well, I picked it up after the price drop. Firmware 1.82, hooked up via HDMI. In the BD/DVD Settings, I have DVD Upscale set to Normal. A DVD looks noticeably better on either console than my stand-alone DVD player (so I mainly use it for watching Divx). But I still swear that the same DVD will look just slightly better on the 360. Little details like Anakin's scar in Episode III are more clear. The TV's a 52", so the difference between ED and HD is pretty easy to notice.
  17. Yeah, I remember that show. My friend used to be really into Vampire: The Masquerade when it was a CCG, before World of Darkness.
  18. I guess, but I still liked the earlier mock ups that looked that the old NES Zapper. Maybe not as useful for games like RE4, but I was really hoping for a new Duck Hunt anyway.
  19. As far as I know, yes. And GutsAndCasca, multiplatform games are great when you only have one of the platforms. But when you have (or intend to have) both, I find that Achievements have me leaning toward the 360 version. So for me, I'm looking more at the 360 versions of some of the games on your list, plus stuff like Rock Band, Ace Combat 6, Bioshock, Mass Effect, and while we're at it, Metroid Prime 3 for the Wii (sadly, that's it for me for the Wii this year). I'm not following as closely, but I'd be surprised if something didn't come out for the DS that I want, too. Oh, and David, I've seen some Lost Odyssey screens, and I'm inclined to agree that it's looking more Final Fantasy than the last couple, but I think I'm tired of JRPGs in general, what with their androgynous males, the ridiculous plots that still wind up cliched, and their sad attempts at reinventing the turn-based wheel. I'm much more interested in games like Mass Effect.
  20. Actually, it's more like that one mission in Ace Combat Zero, where you had to fly around the laser. And the super weapon sure looks a lot like the Gleipnir in Ace Combat X.
  21. No Raptor = not a good theme. It's funny that, after getting laid off and not having anything else to do, I replayed Ace Combat 4, 5, Zero, and X. When I played the AC6 demo, I definitely had that "This is Ace Combat" feeling. The graphics are gorgeous; the planes and the ground are much more detailed, smoke trails from missiles hang in the air for awhile, and 30,000 feet looks a lot higher than in the PS2 games. But the thing you really notice right away is just how much more is going on. The number of planes in the air is much higher than the Shattered Skies mission in AC4. November can hardly come fast enough.
  22. I haven't played that in ages! But I have to ask, did you download the Ace Combat 6 demo? The one thing that really stood out for me about it compared to 5, 0, and X was the sheer number of of planes in the sky at one time.
  23. Now that the price has dropped a bit, I think I might actually pick one up in the near future. I think I'll mostly be using it as a Blu-Ray player, though, as there is yet to be an exclusive title that I can't wait to play... nor is there any in the near future. Maybe I'm the minority here, but Lair isn't looking all that hot to me. Definitely not $60 good. White Knight and Heavenly Sword are the only blips on the radar, as far as I'm concerned. I don't see Metal Gear Solid 4 or Final Fantasy XIII actually making it out anytime soon, and I'd care more if I a) ever got around to playing Metal Gear Solid 3, or b) gave a rats ass about Final Fantasy anymore. Of course, there's always the inevitable God of War...
  24. I was given to understand that there's a door somewhere on the system, and inside where GC controller ports and the slots for the memory cards. I'm just praying that the ports aren't too deeply set or the door doesn't get in the way, because I too want to plug a Wavebird into it. But there's over 5GB of N64 titles alone, and maybe another gig for all the NES, SNES, Genesis, and TG16 games. I think my original line of thinking was probably correct. Like XBLA, if you buy something and delete it, you can redownload it from your history.
  25. You yourself quoted me as using the $500 figure. Why are you battying at me for using the $600 figure? And let's be honest. 360 owners who got stuck with the 3-shitty package could buy a hard drive and a wireless controller later... but until recently, the retard-package PS3 was lacking HDMI, which really ruled the $500 deal as not a legitimate option. Even with HDMI, I'd prefer to wait until the $600 unit was down to $400 and get the one with memory card slots and the larger hard drive than buy the $500 unit, even if dropped to $300.
