  1. Looks fantastic. No doubt about it. Even as a downloadable title, I think it's enough to justify owning a PS3 as a system exclusive. Having said that, I've never really thought that the 360 couldn't run it. 'Course, there's always God of War 3... Still, I don't think you really can say that one console is more powerful than the other, not in a practical sense. You can pull raw specs to argue for either, but the reality is that they're very different sets of hardware. Multiplatform games are always going to go for a middle ground, and exclusives are going to look better than multiplatform games because the developer will tailor the game to take advantage of the specific hardware.
  2. That's more or less what I heard too. While I'm not denying that I've seen some great-looking PS3 games, I haven't actually seen any that make me stand up and say, "Yes, the PS3 is clearly more powerful than the Xbox 360!" Multi-platform games are 90% of the time identical, and when they're not RAM limits or shoddy porting on the admittedly-more-difficult-to-program-for have the PS3 version getting the short end of the stick more often than you see a well-programmed port that really takes advantage of the PS3's hardware. That's not exactly what I'd call "dumbing down to fit in the Xbox 360." If anything, it's the other way around.
  3. This one comes up a lot, but when I played it before I knew how edited it was, I loved it.
  4. *Looks over at DoaX2 on 360 shelf, nods sadly...* The worst part is when you keep playing anyway. "That suit's perfect for Hitomi! Just a few more Zack dollars... if only the volleyball mechanics were a little better..."
  5. The subforum, yes. The "All Things Video Games" thread is for video games. But I don't even think that one's too hard and fast, considering that a lot of games wind up in their own threads... or games get talked about in the console threads, because we've got, what, five of those? Yep. No, to me a blunder is more like DoA Xtreme Beach Volleyball. It's like the PC game Sexy Beach, if you replace the sex with a crappy volleyball game. Which would be the equivalent to making a movie that's like Terminator, except instead of going back in time to kill Sarah Conner, the robot goes back in time to give her a balloon.
  6. In other words, he's Bludgeon. Granted, G1 Bludgeon's undead samurai look was his Pretender shell, but I'm digging it as a robot. Actually, especially since there was already a movie Bludgeon (a redeco of Wreckage), I think this toy actually was meant for Universe. Bill Rawley said something about a design for Universe Bludgeon being done up, but canceled because there were already too many Universe tanks/tankish vehicles.
  7. I agree on Dirge and Skystalker, totally. But I find Mindwipe strangely appealing. I might seriously consider him, to beef up my Universe Decepticons' roster. As it is, I'm already padding it with movie Barricade, Sideways and Megatron, Marvel Crossovers Venom, and Animated Blackarachnia, Waspinator, and Shockwave. I'm totally sold on that Bludgeon.
  8. Who knows... reading through that thread, I noticed that I haven't seen posts by some of those people in a LONG time.
  9. I had RAM that passed Memtest, but I was having errors similar to yours. I replaced the RAM, and hadn't had a problem in that computer since. Don't know much about cameras, but I'd probably go with the Samsung mp3 player.
  10. Before you do anything major with it, try putting different RAM in it. I'm not saying that it couldn't be the mobo, but those really sound like RAM errors to me.
  11. About stuff like your examples? Not particularly. Macrossworld is the only anime-related site on the internet I visit, let alone post at. And even then, I'm only in the actual Macross sections when there's new Macross. If I want to know something about a particular show, I can just Google it. I think there are more important things I wish people would do research on instead.
  12. Smartphones, my friend. Even when I went away to a tiny town with a population the size of my graduating class, I still got my updates.
  13. I'm not arguing that Henkei Cyclonus is more cartoon-accurate, I actually prefer the US version. It's more toy-accurate, less feminine (I get that Cyclonus is purple, but lavender purple?), and sort of reminds me of his IDW appearance (which, in my opinion, was awesome).
  14. Ironhide didn't bother me too much, since I sort of thought his gray forearms looked out of place, even as a kid. But I painted the crap out of my Universe Ratchet.
  15. I finally saw a Voyager Megatron, so I snatched him up. Voyager Starscream, Leader Prime (although I'll wait for either clearance or the buster version on Prime), and then I think I'm done with RotF toys. Voyager Megatron (2007) was one of the worst of the first movie line. It only looked sort of like him in bot mode, his alt mode was a little off, and he had that blue plastic "ice" all over him. They've totally made up for it with the RotF line. Not only is Voyager Megatron a solid figure, he seems better than the Leader version! He looks menacing in bot mode, and his gun-claw arm is more movie accurate than the Leader version. His left arm is still skinny, but it's not as tiny as the Leader version. His alt mode is also more movie-accurate by virtue of being slimmer. There's only a few minor quibbles I'm having. For starters, I think he'd be more movie-accurate without the four black little wings. I mean, I can't remember if he had anything like wings when he was a flying tank in the movie, but from the renders I've seen online, there's no wings. Second, the most obvious, is his greenish color. It's honestly irritating that it looks like they might have started to spray him silver (you can see some silver on his big claw, pelvis, knees, shoulders, chest, and face), but they quit before they finished. I do kinda prefer the green where he should be silver to the random black on the Leader version, though. Speaking of his shoulders, the especially with the way his head sits a little forward, it always looks like he's throwing his shoulders back. Lastly, he's got a ton of back kibble. In alt mode, his legs are kind of folded up like G1 Soundwave's, he lays on his stomach with his arms folded onto his back. The top of the tank is like a shell, and you have two options: you can fold it up so that it's not noticeable from the front, which from the side makes him almost as long chest-to-back-kibble as he is tall, or you can try to fold it in such a way that it looks like wings, which isn't terribly movie-accurate and hinders his arm movement. Honestly, I think the back kibble would have been a lot better with one more hinge, but maybe that's just me. All-in-all, he's not perfect, but he's the best version of Megatron to come out of either movie line.
  16. You forgot the crying. No, my friends, LotR was a huge snoozefest. The battles? Only cool if they're relevant to you. And it's hard to be relevant when you don't give a crud (maybe because you dozed off during the walking and/or crying?). I'm not saying that Harry Potter, despite winding up 8 movies long, is really as epic or high fantasy as something like LotR, but it's fun. I saw the Half-Blood Prince today with my wife. It was... well, it's okay. Just okay, and I say this as someone who liked the Half-Blood Prince best of the books. The problem seems to be that Rowling's books got progressively longer, so with each movie more or the book winds up on the cutting room floor. Two movies ago it was jarring that the school year was over after just two hours of film, like you were just getting the Reader's Digest version. By movie six, it feels more like you're just getting the Cliff's notes.
  17. If you owned up to your mistake, they called you a name, and you're reply was something like, "Hey, I said I was sorry, it was a mistake, there's no need for name-calling," and they continued to insult you, I'd take it up with a mod regardless of any cross-board influence. It's one thing to call you out on a mistake you made, but personal attacks cross the line at most of the boards I visit, especially if you've apologized.
  18. Give those guys a budget and staff. That deserves to be the next TF show.
  19. I do, if only because his movies are so un-Hollywood.
  20. I do have to admit that that's kinda cool... but I think I could hit the local army surplus store, get some night vision goggles, then buy the standard PC version. Probably cheaper. On a mostly unrelated note, for those that have seen Zack and Miri Make a Porno, you know the scene when Seth Rogan's character gets out of the car to get the heating thing out of his pants? That scene actually takes place at the parking lot of the aforementioned army surplus store.
  21. Nope. Honestly, I don't even recall getting any warnings. Then again, this is pretty much the only internet forum I've posted on more than a handful of times. And I've been here so long that I almost feel like I know some of the regulars too well to feel "anonymous" anymore. I know I've had my misunderstandings and heated discussions, and I'm sure I've made a joke or two that turned out to be in bad taste, but for the most part I try to be respectful towards others.
  22. Yes. I'd say that 80% of my PSP use has been Gundam Battle or Ace Frontier games. 15% has been Ace Combat, WipEout, God of War, or Megaman. The last 5% would be everything else I've ever played on the PSP.
  23. Universe Silverbolt.
  24. See, that's just the thing... everything good about Ubuntu you can already say about Kubuntu (as a matter of fact, you can install Kubuntu, then grab GNOME from a repository, and the result is Ubuntu), and Kubuntu looks a lot better doing it. It baffles me that Ubuntu is always the top distro on Distro Watch, while Kubuntu never seems higher than 15. I know this would be the tinder for a flame war on a Linux-centric board, but KDE is better than GNOME, so Kubuntu will always trump Ubuntu. My main concern with it is, as I already said, the rocky transition from KDE 3.5 to KDE 4. As for Knoppix, it makes for one of the best Live CD distros. Computers that have trouble booting an Ubuntu/Kubuntu CD will almost always boot Knoppix. That makes it a handy tool, but I don't know anyone who's ever bothered to try installing it. Like Az said, I'm looking for something I can play with a little more long-term, something that I might actually install on a Linux box when I upgrade a little more hardware and have enough older parts to build a PC. So far, all I've tried is Linux Mint. It's pretty, sure, but I'm not seeing anything that'd really win me over from Kubuntu. I may have to look into different virtualization software, though. Since I'm using Windows 7 as the host, I've so far been using the beta for Windows Virtual PC. I think it only emulates generic video drivers, so I can't set the resolution for Linux Mint any higher than 800x600. Any recommendations there? Not VMware Workstation... it seems to have problems with Windows 7.
  25. Any Linux users out there? I used to have a Linux box set up with Xandros 4, which I replaced with Kubuntu 8.04 I enjoyed it for awhile, but I ultimately sold that computer to pay for a new monitor for my main desktop. I don't have the spare hardware for a new Linux box at the moment, but I figure if I feel like playing with Linux I can always run it in a virtual machine. But what's a good distro these days? It seems like everyone's into Ubuntu, which I frankly never understood. It's got to have the ugliest default look out there with it shades of oranges and browns, and GNOME is a little dull. I really liked Ubuntu's KDE cousin, Kubuntu, when I last used it. I've heard that they ended support for KDE 3.5, which is kind of a bummer, since KDE 4 wasn't really ready for prime time when I last looked into it. I've heard some pretty good things about Linux Mint, so after Windows XP I think I'm going to set up a Mint virtual machine. Anyone else have a favorite distro?
