  1. Flipping people off in a flagrant and obvious fashion, usually with a loud explanation of what the recipient has done to offend me punctuated crude slang and assertions that the offender might be intellectually challenged.
  2. Bosses too? I've been using the YF-21 anyway... I spam Missile RS at just about everything, and the Pin-Point barrier keeps my health up. Not that I get hit often... I stay in Gerwalk and Fighter modes and have FAST packs equipped. The problem is when you've got 20 minutes to take out pretty much one of everything, I ran out of time around Gepernitch.
  3. Since the YF-21's special was nerfed, what do you guys think the best unit is for clearing the Extra stages? I'm getting frustrated because I'm failing missions not for dying, but for running out of time.
  4. I liked K-pop a lot when I was in college. After BoA became a hit, though, it seemed a like a lot of labels were ditching their established acts to sign young girls in the hopes of finding the next BoA. If I had to pick one all-time favorite K-pop group, I think I'd go with the S#arp.
  5. I've never dealt with them. Their prices always seemed a bit high. In this case, they're actually cheaper, but the shipping's more, so it's still a wash.
  6. Finish all the campaigns (except for Tutorial, Chronicle, and Enemy).
  7. There are, going by the list in Record, 102 units. I'm missing about 30 at the moment.
  8. It should autosave. After you finish a mission and get your score, you hit circle and a message about saving will come up, then you'll go back to the hangar. Upgrade your mecha, then hit L to tab to the mission select screen. Tap down to pick the next mission (this is actually always true; when you come back to the hangar, the last mission picked with be where the cursor's at on the Mission tab). If all else fails (maybe you accidentally disable autosave?), hit the start button on the hangar screen, and "Save" is the third from the bottom.
  9. Just a couple of things... The actual campaigns you can pick to do are Zero, SDF Macross, DYRL, Plus, 7, Dynamite 7, and Frontier. In addition to those, there's the Tutorial missions, the Chronicle missions, the Enemy missions, and the Extra missions. Tutorial is self-explanatory. Chronicle is sort of like the EX missions from MAF. The enemy missions have been moved to their own tab instead of sitting at the end of a campaign. And Extra missions should also be familiar to anyone who's played the Gundam Battle games or MAF. The Macross II missions are in Extra. There are enemy Battle Pods from Macross II, the Gilgamesh, and VF-2SS. No sign of any other Macross II mecha or ships. The VF-2SS is a surprisingly average mecha, better than most of the Zero, SDFM, and DYRL mecha, but worse than the Frontier mecha. Neither the FBz-99 or AZ-130 have Gerwalk modes. I've seen, but don't have available, the VF-9. There's no sign of the VF-14, VF-3000, or Variable Glaug. The VA-3 is the civilian model from Dynamite 7; no sign of the Spacy models. The Pheyos Valkyrie also isn't in the game. At least as far as I've seen; I've only done two of the Extra missions. The VF-19P, despite being a Zolan patrol ship, is only usable by Basara, and fights like the Fire Valkyrie. When equipping FAST or Armored Packs, you'll notice you have two options: Type A and Type B. The Default is Type B. In both cases, you'll have a health bar over your regular health bar. The difference between A and B is that you wear A until you're defeated, but you dump B when the extra health meter is gone. With few exceptions, you can wear packs during atmospheric levels, but you're restricted to Battroid and Gerwalk modes. Should you wish to dump the packs manually, hit all four face buttons simultaneously.
  10. What kind of case are you using now, what kind of RAM do you have right now, and how much wattage is your power supply putting out? Thing is, with that kind of budget, you're really stuck using a Core 2 Duo, maybe a Core 2 Quad. The Core i5 and Core i7 will eat up your entire right now budget, and a CPU+mobo will eat your entire long-term budget. So you really have two options... build a relatively cheap system for the usual web-surfing, Office, iTunes, media-watching, etc. Recycle as much of your old system as possible. No gaming. That could tide you over until you stash away some cash for a more powerful rig later, and you could pass this one down to your kids instead of what you've got now. The other option would be to try to figure out what's the best computer we could build for $500-$700, knowing full well that it'll be mid-range at best.
  11. Bad news: they nerfed the YF-21's limiter off special move.
  12. -Haven't figured it out yet. -I actually wanted to start from scratch, so I actually moved my MAF save off my memory stick. In other words, don't know. -I used the MAF-style controls, so I don't know. Lucky for us, CrazyMartian answered that one. -This one I do know. The answer is sort of yes. I say sort of, because the memorable moments in SDF Macross are going to be the same, so you're going to have to chase Kamjin off Mars and shoot down Q-Rau's until Milia kills Roy. But the missions themselves aren't carbon copies of MAF's (like GBU's were cut and pasted from GBC). For a simple example, on the Miss Macross mission, you still have to shoot down the Quel-Quallie, but instead of the mission being over when you're done, you'll actually have three Zentradi soldiers to shoot down. Another difference from MAF: You'll notice, sort of under and to the left of your weapon info, "ANTI" in big weapons with "100" underneath it. Now, in the default controls, if you hold Square+X you'll go into Missile Defense Mode. In Battroid or Gerwalk mode that means shooting down incoming missiles, and in fighter mode that means deploying flares. When you're in missile defense mode, that 100 will count down, and when you exit it'll slowly go back up. You can still take damage in Missile Defense mode from any attack that's not a missile (or those missiles that leave the big ball explosions, if they're shot too close). In campaign mode, when you're at the hanger, you have five tabs that you can scroll through by tapping the L and R buttons. From left to right, they're Mission, Player, Partner, and Record, which are all self-explanatory. The last tab is Shop. I have no idea what it's for. You apparently collect point during missions that can be spent on unlocks, but I'm not sure what they are or what they're for. Perhaps the Gallery? One of the choices does say BGM, and another Movie. In the movie section, I can read stuff like "Zero Prologue", "Zero Epilogue", "7 Prologue" etc.
  13. Sorry, Graham. I just finished Macross Zero and I'm working my way through SDF Macross. I'll keep an eye out when I get that far.
  14. Unlike Ace Frontier, units with FAST or Armored packs aren't separate units anymore. Now they're optional equipment. So if you spend a lot of time building up, say, a VF-0J, you're not starting over on tuning when you unlock the Ghost-pack. AFOS is really hard, by the way.
  15. Are there any good stores to import games from besides Play-Asia? I ordered MUF from them, as I've dealt with them before. I was going to order Gundam Battle Universe with it, but it was going to take a week to ship (MUF ships in 24 hours), so I figured I'd get it later. Then while I was thinking about it, GBU costs as much as MUF, despite being over a year old. I was wondering if I might find it cheaper elsewhere. Figured I'd see where the rest of you guys have had good experiences.
  16. Damn! That's faster than I type on a full-size keyboard (around 60 wpm).
  17. For everyone that was bellyaching that they wanted more flight sim-ish controls, when you start a new campaign you can pick if you want Ace Frontier-style controls or "real" controls.
  18. I'm cool now. Pixelfix fixed it. Sold my 1st-gen 16GB iPod touch for $150 today. I never use it; while it does do some things better than my WinMo phone, I wound up using my phone for everything since it's once less device to carry. I think I'll use that cash to buy Macross Ultimate Frontier and Gundam Battle Universe, since GBU and MAF have been the only two games I've played on my PSP and are the sole reason my old PSP had custom firmware. EDIT: Although I fully intend to buy the game still (so I can play it on my PSP-3000 via TV out to the big TV), I found an ISO... which motivated me to get up off my butt and try to find a custom firmware for my old PSPhat. Turns out I had 3.90 M33-2, and it was relatively painless to upgrade to 5.50 GEN-B2... apparently 0.05 off from running MUF. Does anyone know, is that the most recent custom firmware?
  19. You guys still have me beat by a century and a half, but if we're going to talk classical music, I've gotta throw in my props for Wagner and Tchaikovsky.
  20. I'm struggling to wait until pay day here, guys. I blew my money on the PSP to play the game, and have nothing left for the game! I'm thinking about selling my iPod touch. It's a cool little device, but for games I'd rather go with my PSP or DS, and for a media player my phone works just as well.
  21. You mean the old one or the new one? The old one is pure camp (in a good way) for me, but if you mean the new one, I agree. There was so much conspiracy stuff going on with Michael's past that they barely scratched the surface of.
  22. I do believe I'm going to have to second that one. Heck, I even liked the new one. Third (and 3.5) Edition, yes. 4th Edition, not so much.
  23. I haven't bothered with the cartoons, movies, manga, or spin-off games... but I've played at least one version of all the mainline Pokemon games... and enjoyed them.
  24. I liked (as in, was entertained watching as a rental but have no interest in adding it to my personal collection) both the first Aliens Vs. Predator movie and Dragonball Evolution.
  25. I picked up a new PSP-3000 at Gamestop today. My first impressions were that Sony really is going overboard on packing compared to the tiny box the original came in, is cheaping out on pack ins, and holy cow is it lighter. It doesn't really look that much smaller, but the weight difference is really impressive... although the downside is that the plastic feels a lot cheaper. One thing I'm not happy with, though, is a super obnoxious stuck green pixel in the upper left corner. I thought stuck pixels weren't supposed to be as much of an issue these days? It's just the one, but it's REALLY noticeable. Does anyone know Gamestop's return policy for stuck pixels? I'm going to run PixelFix on it tonight, to see if that unsticks it, but if not I think this PSP might go back.
