  1. tl;dr I don't have VO or VOXP. I didn't get into PC gaming until 2007. Now that I am into PC gaming, I'm still not interested in VO or VOXP. If I get a hankering to play something Macross, the PSP games satisfy that just fine. For what it's worth, I hope somebody somewhere has an answer for you.
  2. Yeah, but if they go straight to DotM and just give up on the awesome Generations and Reveal the Shield figures I've been hunting fruitlessly for for nigh on four months, I quit. I'll collect something less frustrating, like Star Wars.
  3. Apparently Hasbro's profits are way down. Well hey, Hasbro, I'd buy your toys is you could actually get them in stores.
  4. Do you read? Aldiko (an ebook reader) and Seesmic (a Twitter app) are probably the two apps I use the most. Game-wise, there's a G1 Transformers game that I like (mostly because its G1 Transformers). Zenonia is pretty cool too.
  5. Screw Windcharger... no Rumble!
  6. I don't think so. Or at least if I did, it was flagged as spam and I never saw it.
  7. I'm finding it hard to get excited over any Dark of the Moon crap when the only Reveal the Shield figures I've found are Jazz and Tracks.
  8. There are two Ace Combat games for PSP; Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception and Ace Combat: Joint Assault. Both are worth it.
  9. I'd assume it'd depend on the cards in question. But, for example, look at the GTX 4xx series vs. the GTX 5xx series. The GTX 480 was powerful but expensive, and the GTX 460 was hailed as a great compromise between price and performance. The GTX 580 is the budget-buster designed to replace the 480, and the 560 the more affordable replacement to the 460. According to Techspot's Crysis 2 performance tests, the 480 averages a few more frames than the 560 (about 5fps at 1680x1050, Extreme settings). But the 480 still retails for over $400, and the 560 can be had for under $250. So let's say you go back a little further, to Nvidia's previous king of the hill, the GTX 285. They're a little harder to find, but I turned up a couple under $200 on eBay. But before we go thinking that we've found ourselves a bargain, going back to the previous reference we see that the GTX 285 barely beat the 460, and is handily trounced by the 560.
  10. Every card I've ever bought has been an Nvidia, and even I'm looking at ATI's cards these days. The Radeons have been outperforming at pretty much every price range these days.
  11. Tell me about it. The most irritating one was one that gave me solid improvement in performance on a game I was playing at the time, but due to a bug in the driver once the fans on my card spun up, they wouldn't go back to normal without rebooting the computer.
  12. Firefox 4? I don't really know... I had issues once with Firefox a long time ago, but a clean install fixed it.
  13. Yep. Like Az, I bought it for PC last week or the week when Target was offering a $10 gift card for purchasing it (I buy a ton of crap at Target, so for me it was basically $10 off). I haven't played it at all yet. I ordered a Logitech Performance Mouse MX for the extra buttons, and I want to wait for it to arrive first. Figure I'll finish Dragon Age II first, anyway.
  14. They can, or they can do something similar. My wife hasn't had a new phone in years, but I've had three phones in three years now. The catch is that the the line that is the primary line has to renew. Like, I have a year left on my contract, so I use her available upgrade to get a new phone on my line. If you have multiple lines that are available to renew, I think you can just have Verizon change the primary line. Again, my wife's line used to be the primary line, but when I got a smartphone and added a $30 a month data plan, my line was more expensive, and Verizon would only apply her work discount to one line. So we made my line the primary line, and it saved us some money.
  15. The Droid X has a nice screen, but I'm not a fan of Motorola's aesthetic (which, judging by the Atrix, they seem to be doing away with). While Verizon had/had a ton of Android phones, the best of the batch have been either the Droid X or the Droid Incredible (which is what I wound up getting). I'd shop around and see what other deals you can get... the last time Dell was offering something I at a price I wanted, I was at the checkout screen when I noticed that they were charging a lot more than they'd advertised. I went a few rounds with some of their customer support people before I basically told them all to go eff themselves. Meanwhile, I see Amazon is offering either the Droid X or the Incredible for a penny, with free 2-day shipping to boot.
  16. I didn't think it looked that bad... until I saw the sports-wagon-ish rear.
  17. No way. If I had that kind of money, I'd have bought an Evo instead of just the GTS.
  18. That's exactly what I'm doing. After replacing my GBA with a GBA SP and my original DS with a DS Lite, I've almost come to expect a better version around a year later. By then, maybe they'll have a game or two out that I'd want enough to justify the hefty price tag.
  19. If you're connecting several devices, especially if you're streaming data from one device to another on the same network, or if you feel that you're not getting the range you'd like, then sure. If you're mostly using it to get on the internet with one or two devices and everything's working good for you, then not really. The key thing here is that G is rated for 54Mbps. Your internet connection is probably much slower... I have Comcast cable, and I'm lucky to hit 15Mbps. Only reason I upgraded is because I've got six computers (not counting my assortment of other wi-fi-enabled gizmos, like my iPad), and my old router was B (only 11Mbps).
  20. Some games are more CPU intensive than others... in general, GPU is more important. But if your performance is worse, and the only thing that's changed is that you added a second GPU, then the CPU isn't likely the problem. Likewise, even bargain-bin dual-core CPUs these days should be able to handle streaming video, even up to 720p, without a hitch. The problem is more likely software or GPU related. SLI, from what I've read, can be pretty hit-or-miss.
  21. Man. After too many disappointing trips to my local stores looking for Transformers, I decided to expand my search to the next town over (where they have a Kohl's!). I didn't find beans. And the funny thing is, it's not that the shelves are clogged with Skullgrins (although there are a few)... they're mostly empty. My local TRU consolidated their Transformers to half a section, and filled the other half with Tron figures. Walmart smooshed theirs down to make room for Thor. And both the Targets I went to just had one or two Skullgrins and a ton of empty space. Kohl's had all their Transformers on a single endcap... ironically, they had a ton of Jazz and Tracks, but that's about it.
  22. It's very early in development, and no platform has been announced yet... which is why we started talking about it in the general video game thread.
  23. $800? Suddenly I'm not feeling so bad about mine running $650.
  24. I got an email this morning with my preorder code... so there's that. As of 9:45am EST, though, my order is still listed as "Shipping Soon." I'll probably replay the demo and sign up for the newsletter to get ready, play some more of the first one with my wife when she gets home, and play Pokemon. I started with Tepig.
  25. Regardless of where you install your games, most games (including Steam ones) put save files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\your name\My Documents in XP, or C:\Users\your name\My Documents in Vista and Windows 7.
