I preordered at Amazon. So far, they haven't emailed me the preorder codes. In fact, as of 9:30pm EST today, they haven't even shipped it. I'm half-tempted to buy a copy somewhere else, save the receipt, and return the one that Amazon sends... but on the one hand, my wife has me replaying the first one with her, and on the other hand I picked up the new Pokemon. -

At this point, it really depends on whether or not you're going to play games. There are better, cheaper Blu-ray players on the market now. But if you want a PS3 for games too, the PS3 is still a good Blu-ray player. As for HDMI cables, by my math that's still almost $40 a cable, so no, it's not a good deal. The thing with HDMI is that it's digital... for the most part, it either works or it doesn't, and one generic cable is usually just as good as expensive gold-plated fancy ones. You can get a 6' HDMI cable for as little as $3.28 at monoprice.com. Or, if you want to stick with "Ships and Sold by Amazon.com" to grab an extra item to hit $25 and free shipping next time you order, Amazon sells their own brand for $9.99... or $6.99, if you don't mind the old version. The difference? The $9.99 one supports Ethernet over HDMI. -

Not always. If he's talking about building a gaming rig, then yeah. But if you're just looking for a basic internet/iTunes kind of box, it's cheaper to buy pre-built. You can get a decent Athlon-powered desktop with 4GB of RAM and at least a 750GB hard drive for $400 these days. Last I priced parts on Newegg I figured that the cheapest I could build one for was almost $300, and that was figuring that it'd only have 2GB of RAM and that I already have a copy of Windows. -

I might have. My current '10 Lancer GTS is actually my third Mitsubishi. Right out of college I bought an '02 Mirage, because the financing worked out for my thoughts on buying a car were 1.) no American cars, as they were kind of crappy at the time, and 2.) no Civics, which every poser who'd seen The Fast and the Furious was driving at the time. The Mirage was sporty enough, in my price range, and fit that criteria. Because we had a relationship with that dealer, we bought a used '04 Lancer for my wife. Despite it being newer, I never really liked it as much as my Mirage. It was hard to imagine a Lancer that was further from the Evo at the time (it was the VIII, although the IX wasn't long after). While the front end was perhaps more distinctive than, say, a Corolla, the interior was just bland. Still, it's been reliable enough, and it handled well enough for its class. Now, considering that I didn't have any bad experience with my first two Mitsubishis, and that I had a pretty good rapport with the dealer, it's possible that I might have bought another one anyway. Especially if they were still selling the Evo IX and the current body debuted on the vanilla Lancers... this body was love at first sight for me. But as much as I've wanted an Evo, they've always been sitting nicely at around double my budget. When they debuted the current Lancers back in... I guess it was the '08 model? Whenever it was, I figured that'd be the closest I'd get to owning an Evo for awhile, so I started planning to buy one. The stars happened to align for me this past summer (Mirage needed a lot of expensive exhaust work after 8 Pennsylvania winters, parts were becoming harder to find for it since they stopped making them the year I bought it, I had some extra money, and I was offered no interest for 60 months). And I really like it... the CVT takes some getting used to, but its been a great ride so far. I'd figured that I'd probably keep buying Mitsubishis, but I can't stand Mitsubishi's new direction. Between hearing that they're going to kill the Evo and the unveiling of their yawn-inducing e-Compact, it's pretty obvious they're not interested in making cars for me anymore (ie, inexpensive cars that still look sporty and are fun to drive). -
It's ok. I don't mind the human kids, but the show itself is a little on the bland side, and I don't care for the Bayformers-inspired look. I mean, it's entertaining enough, but I'd rather they just continued Animated instead.

This. It's amazing how many people get a security program on their computer, then think they're done. I spent three days cleaning up my mom's laptop after she got a bad case of "Security Tools 2011". Once I had her computer working again, I see that she's got Microsoft Security Essentials installed and updated, but had updated her web browser since she got the computer, Flash was out of date, Java was out of date, and Windows itself was missing probably 15 updates. -

Look for a little-used key on your keyboard that says "Pause", "Break," or some combination thereof. Tap it as the blue-screen comes up. Or, if you can get into the BIOS, you can usually disable automatic rebooting. -

All-wheel drive, traction control, and actually having a back seat make it a more practical choice than, say, a Mazda Miata. And yeah, the Evo isn't Mitsubishi's biggest seller. If my local dealer is indicative of Mitsubishi in general, their biggest sellers are the non-Evo Lancers and the Outlanders. But it's that motorsport-inspired design that's made the current generation Lancer so popular... there's not a lot of cosmetic difference between the Lancer GTS and the Evo X. In killing the Evo, Mitsubishi isn't just saying that they're killing off a $45,000 rally car that gets 18mpg, they're also saying that the Evo doesn't fit image the company wants. And judging by their stated goals and their recently unveiled e-Compact, good-looking, fun-to-drive cars are out, hippie-green pods are in. And that's what'll actually kill them. They could make hybrid versions of every car in their fleet, including the Evo, if they wanted to. They just don't want to. Popularity of the Prius aside (a popularity that's been waning, I might add), people don't want pods. -

No one is denying the need for alternative fuels and new technologies in engines. But that's no reason for Mitsubishi to say "screw our motorsport heritage", kill one of their most iconic and beloved cars, and then replacing it with this crap, while Honda, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, Fisker, etc are coming out with all-electric or hybrid cars that don't look like golf carts and escape pods. -

This... is the saddest news I've heard since my parents put my dog down when I was 7. I mean, with gas prices what they are, I don't mind Mitsubishi looking at alternatives to the old internal combustion engine. But why not a hybrid Evo or an electric Evo? I'd hate to think Mitsubishi is killing off one of my favorite lines and replacing them with i-MiEV's. -

Yeah, I definitely can see what you mean by Maserati. Well, aside from the XKR, I've never really cared for Jaguar anyway. If I were going to drive an expensive British car, might as well be an Aston Martin. -

Ok... now, I admit that I've never seen the cartoon, so I don't have that basis for comparison... but I didn't think The Last Airbender was that bad. I mean, sure, the acting was pretty weak, but the story seemed interesting enough that I'd watch a sequel, and the visuals were pretty good. -
What stores are you shopping at? I still haven't seen Wreck-gar, Scourge, G2 Prime, Perceptor, or Kup. I technically haven't found Jazz, Blurr, or Tracks locally. I found Jazz and Tracks at a Kohl's near my parents' house, and Blurr at their Target.

I made the mistake of buying the Game of the Year version of Oblivion. I could never get it to install right with the stupid DRM they put on it. As for PSP, I found out it's possible to run homebrew with firmware version 6.35, so I bought a PSP Go (that'd be my third PSP total). My PSP 3000 can have the current official Sony firmware and can play my UMDs, and it's got a bigger screen, which is good. But, despite being slimmer than my original launch PSP, it was still big enough that it was inconvenient to carry to work and such. To that end, I'm digging the Go. I mean, I'd hate it if I was actually relying on the PSN for games, but I've loaded it with UMD rips (almost my entire collection), which makes it perfect for carrying with me. -
We've actually been discussing the Dragon Age II demo in the Video Games thread already. Come join us, people who only own a PS3 and therefore think they should discuss a multiplatform game in the PS3 thread.

You guys say it like I'd want to change it. If I'm moving people around with an analog stick, hacking away with one button and mapping powers to a couple more, then I don't really mind tapping a button once for a single attack. But on PC (especially as its what I'm used to from the first game, as well as other games in the genre) I prefer to click once and let my guy auto attack. Frees up the pointer to click powers on the quickbar (which, if the game winds up like the first one, extended well beyond the ones mapped to number keys). Besides, it's not like your guy will autobattle until the fight's done. Just until his current target is dead, or you move. -

Well, that's all I really mean. After all, I loved Dark Alliance. Bioware changing the mechanic doesn't really influence my decision to buy Dragon Age II. Just which platform I play it on. Not keen on mashing left-click, but I'll happily mash X. EDIT: It appears to be a moot point anyway. The PC version appears to play nearly identically to the first (right-click an enemy, and your character will auto-attack it until it's dead). The only real difference, besides the retooled interface, seems to be that you won't automatically attack when attacked or when whatever you were fighting gets killed. So, it's back to a PC purchase for me. -

Combat speed doesn't bother me. Hell, I played a Warrior in the first one, and only paused it when I felt I had to micro-manage the casters because everybody but my Warrior was going down. But I like clicking an enemy once and watching my Warrior do his things, occasionally clicking a power from his quick slots. It worked for me in Neverwinter Nights, it worked for me in KOTOR, and it worked for me in the first Dragon Age. Clicking for each attack doesn't sit as well with me. I won't say that it doesn't work at all, but it has me thinking I might go with a console version instead of the PC this time, though. I guess I'll have a better feeling after I actually play the demo, though. I could even download the Xbox demo and try it on both. -

I downloaded it for PC, but I'm too tired to give it a go tonight. My friends tell me it's gone all hack n' slash. Kind of like, if the first Dragon Age was Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age II is Dark Alliance. -
Oh, I don't mind it on Rodimus. Heck, I don't mind it on Ultra Magnus. It just seems a little much on the Insecticons.

Hey, I don't care how you drive. That's between you, the asphalt, and maybe local law enforcement. I just thought it was amusingly ironic to note that everyone thinks they're an above-average driver before explaining why you think you're an above-average driver. -
Actually, I was looking at them and thinking that Fans Project seems to really go for the Pat Lee, ultra-chunky look lately.
