  1. It's confirmed that it'll be $99.99 Canadian when it's released in Canada, and we were told to expect it to retail for about the same in the US. Which makes sense, since the US and Canadian dollars are worth almost the same amount right now. In addition to what you're suggesting about the Japanese version being overpriced (likely enough), you gotta figure that Takara's already paid for the design and tooling. Unless Hasbro contributed to that initial investment, they can afford to sell it for a little less.
  2. For $99 plus or minus a buck, my Hasbro 20th Anniversary Prime is going in the closet and getting replaced with MP-10, even if I have to drive to TRU every morning for a month. As for Bruticus, as long as they keep him under $99 and sell him in the Hasbro Toy Shop, I'm there. Otherwise I'll be bouncing between two Walmarts, two Targets, and a TRU looking for the uglier individual limbs.
  3. Any idea how much Hasbro MP-10 will be? I didn't feel like paying an arm and a leg to import him, but I always figured I'd buy him if he got a domestic release. The fact that he's coming with the trailer (as opposed to Rodimus) has me simultaneously worried and excited. Likewise, the Hasbro Toy Shop has been pretty good about selling SDCC toys (I've got Pepsi Prime and Classics Nemesis Prime). If he's not too expensive, I'll probably try to get Bruticus. The G1 colors look a lot better than the weird colors the individual retail guys. And it'll save me the trouble of trying to track the pieces down individually.
  4. Not surprisingly, I'm seeing photos of MP-10 in what looks like Hasbro packaging. What is surprising is that he kept his trailer.
  5. It still shouldn't be a surprise. These are probably the same Hasbro execs who decided to cancel the First Edition TF Prime toys after an extremely limited number, and to replace them with new and usually inferior molds.
  6. I thought I read that Iron Man 3 was going to be based on, or inspired by, Warren Ellis' Extremis story arc. That'd kind of fit with what you're hearing.
  7. The '90s had it's moments. For every Youngblood, there was WildCATS. For every Clone Saga, there was Age of Apocalypse. Like RD Blade said, there was a big push to improve the art. Pencillers were suddenly at the forefront, and digital coloring really brought the art to life. Things got a little over-the-top, but that was the '90s, right? Comics then, like comics in previous decades, are a product of their time. You kind of love them for what they are.
  8. Oh, I'm buying it... if only to have an actual Vita game to play, instead of buying PSP games I already own on UMD from the Vita's PlayStation store...
  9. Persona 3 Portable, which I swear was not available in the Vita PlayStation Store last week, is now not only available but a meager $19.99.
  10. Still using the photo of the 1:1 Gundam on the Mac, but I changed my Windows wallpaper since I started playing Persona 3. Really dig the art style used in the MegaTen games.
  11. HP's actually not too bad for bloat. Acer's the worst. Toshiba puts a ton of bloatware on their computers too, but it's their own first-party junk. Trust me, part of my job is removal of bloatware.
  12. Don't look at me, man. I'm a desktop guy, and I roll my own. My brother is just one of those people who buys the cheapest junk, takes lousy care of it, and wonders why stuff breaks all the time.
  13. You obviously haven't had to go through the hassle of trying to recover your Singstar purchases on a new PS3 after your old one YLODed. DLC is sometimes tied to specific hardware.
  14. Compaq. CQ61. Yeah, that's looking more likely. I took it to work with me, cleaned it up, and tried it with a universal AC adapter. I got the VGA, trackpad, wifi, power button, and main power lights to light up, but no screen, charging, or hard drive activity. Hitting the power button neither turns it on nor shuts off the lights. I can't get a replacement board through work either. I'll probably tell my brother it can't be fixed to save myself some hassle.
  15. My brother dropped off his laptop that he says mysteriously "stopped working." Basically, it doesn't turn on. If it's plugged in, a light comes on on the side near the plug (I assume to indicate that it's getting power). On the front, there's three more lights for power, charging, and HDD. None of them come on. Push the power button, and nothing happens. Doesn't matter if the battery is in the computer or not, it just sits there, lifeless. I'm feeling like it's gotta be a short on the board. If it was the battery, it should still run from AC power, and if it was the AC adapter, I don't think the solitary light would come on. But before I look into replacing the board for him, I figure I'd run it by you guys.
  16. I never bothered with Persona 4, because I had such a hard time getting into Persona 3. But now that I'm in love with Persona 3 on the PSP, I'm really excited to hear that Atlus is going to re-release Persona 4 on the Vita. Nocturne was probably my favorite RPG of the PS2 era. My sole complaint about it was that the difficulty was kind of broken. The final boss fight was over two hours for me, and I wasn't sure I could actually win... with freaking Code Breaker cheats.
  17. I don't know... I've only seen five of his movies (the three Godfather films, Tucker, and Dracula, and I liked all but The Godfather Part III. That's more than I can say for a lot of other directors.
  18. I don't know about all these JRPG/Tactics games with generic-looking fantasy anime characters and weird names, but I finally got around to playing Persona 3. I'd tried it briefly on the PS2, and while it seemed kind of interesting then I'm totally hooked on the PSP version. I don't know if it's tweaks to the battle system or just that "high school student by day, explore a creepy tower at night" thing just works better with the off-and-on play style of the PSP, but I'm playing it during all the little moments of time I get during the day.
  19. Keep in mind, I say this as a Vita and PS3 owner, but do you have numbers for that? Last I checked, the Wii is the #1 home console in all regions, and the Xbox is #2 in the States (and although the PS3 has a solid lead over the 360 in Japan and a slight edge in Europe, global figures still put Microsoft ahead). So when it comes to video games, right now Sony is in last place for home consoles, and #2 in a two-man handheld race is means they're in last place there, too. Honestly? I think the days of buying a Sony product just because it's a Sony product are long gone. I don't think Sony can survive as a "premium" or "boutique" brand, like Apple can. We've reached a point where people aren't willing to pay more to have a Sony. That said, I don't think Sony is peddling crap, either. Their stuff might not always be the best, but I think it's still consistently quality. If Sony could recognize that, and if Sony could find a way to retain their quality while pricing their stuff more competitively, then I think they'd be alright.
  20. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall that anyone ever said your choices over all three games would change the last 20 minutes of the game. They said your choices would matter. And they do... I'd imagine some of what I did in Mass Effect 3 would have been completely different under other circumstances, to the point where I spent hours doing stuff that I don't think I would have if certain people had died, and I wonder what content I might have missed out on completely because I didn't do things a certain way. I think people are too focused on what happens after Shepard picks Red, Blue, or Green as the ending. The ending doesn't start there, it starts when Shepard gets on the Normady after the Reapers hit Vancouver. Because the story didn't start there, it started when the original Normandy was on it's way to Eden Prime with a Turian Spectre named Nihlus.
  21. What kind of printing do you do? How much printing do you do? Do you need other features, like scanning, faxing, or duplexing? While, as Az suggests, a high-quality laser will give you the best quality (especially text), they can be pricey. Especially if you want color, or more than just printing. And a high-end inkjet can actually deliver better quality than a cheap laser. Inkjets are generally cheaper, too. The printers are cheaper, an ink cartridge costs less than a toner cartridge, and better inkjets actually have a lower cost-per-page than most laser printers under $400. That said, I think the best bang-for-your-buck might be HP's OfficeJet 8600 Plus. Depending on sales and promotions, you can find it for around $180. It scans (legal size). It duplexes. It makes two-sided copies from two-sided originals (handy for making D&D character sheets). It can scan to and print from an SD card or a flash drive (with OCR software for making PDFs). It's wireless (useful when you've got 8 computers on your network). Best of all, the printing cost is cheap. The ink isn't the cheapest, sure, but a $37 high-capacity black cartridge gets something like 2000 pages. (No, I don't own that printer. I do own the 8500 Plus, which it replaced. And yeah, it's a pretty awesome printer).
  22. I liked Kai Leng... and seeing Kahlee, and going to Grissom Academy, all for the same reasons. They were in Drew Karpyshyn's Mass Effect novels, of which I'd read all three (skipped William Dietz's, though).
  23. Usually, experts say don't wait, because there's always going to be something bigger and better. But these same experts are saying wait a few months, because the expected "bigger and better" is supposedly going to be a little more significant than usual. That said, it's going to depend a lot on your carrier. Sprint and AT&T are both supposed to be getting HTC ONE series phones this year, and the Galaxy S III is also supposed to be coming this summer. My last two Android phones were HTC, and I liked them both, but the Galaxy S III has my interest piqued.
