  1. I'm not trying to start anything, but I find it hard to be concerned with tiny little details when a good portion of the underside is nothing like an f-15 or the fact that it has laser guns hanging off the wings? Ok I can kinda see the desire to have a totally accurate plane from the sides and top, but to me that kind misses the point. These are "Robots in disguse" after all and no disguise it perfect. I always assumed a transformers alt mode only had to be good enough not to attract attention from the average person. I don't know, just something to consider.
  2. Ahh Yeah....D"stancE YF-21. I never get tired of looking at that thing. I really really really hope Yamato knows this is what they're up against. Now I know the Yamato 1/60 21 (if they make it) will have to be more durable and will have to have retractable gear, so it won't be as slick, but it better be damn near close. I'm actually a little worried if Yamato does make a 1/60 21 I will be disappointed because the D"stancE has set such a high bar. Oh well, For now I'll just dream Yamato finds a way to Turn the D"stancE into a sweet ass toy. BTW I asked Graham earlier in this thread if Yamato happened to have a D"stancE 21 kit and IIRC he said he didn't think they did, but what I really want to know is if Yamato knows of the D"stancE and have seen pics.
  3. General suggestions: 1. More product testing before release 2. Panel lines 3. More tampo printing 4. More real world military paint schemes 5. Better stickers (but to be honest I'd still end up getting after market stickers to keep original sheet mint) 6. Caps to fill screw holes 7. Smaller boxes with better graphics 8. Standing version of the pilot Product specific suggestions: 1. 1/60 YF-21 heavily based on the D'stance resin kit 2. 1/48 two seaters 3. 1/60 or 1/48 (preferably 1/48) destroids 4. 1/60 TV color Q-Rau 5. 1/60 SV-51 6. Unassembled Blank 1/48 with A/J/S heads. Maybe even in a selection of different colors (white, black, grey, blue etc) 7. Ground crew and support vehicles 8. 1/? DYRL Macross
  4. only 5? - "Rehab is for Quitters!!!" 421030[/snapback] I know... Compared to some around here that is nothing, but for someone like me that has never bought multilpules of any toy this expensive (re-color or not) five sometimes makes me feel like I might be developing a problem.
  5. I can only image how tough it is for the hardcore collectors out there. So many new releases so close together must be a real kick in the wallet. Luckily for me for the most part, I only buy what I really want. I can also understand if one is trying to kick the valk habit it is a good idea to avoid temptation and leave the community. Anyone who's tried to quit smoking knows the last thing you should do is hang out with a bunch of smokers. I also have to admit from time to time I too question my addiction to valks. I currently own five 1/48's, and one 1/60 VF-0S, which compared to some is barely a collection, but never having been the "collecting" type it sometimes feels excessive. The funny thing is, even as I write this, I know my collection will be growing. To make things worse, I have a girlfriend who not only puts up with my addiction, but has fueled it by recently buying me a 1/48 Hikaru VF-1J and a GBP-1S armour set. I guess what I find weird is this is the first time I've felt the desire to collect anything, but I think that's because IMO the 1/48 is the first toy worth collecting.
  6. I wonder if the 1/60 YF-19 had something do to with this sudden flood of 1/48s? I assume a lot of Yamato's resources went into developing the 1/60 YF-19, if the lions share of that development is now over, that may have allowed Yamato to turn it's attention back to their cash cow. Don't know... Just a thought
  7. I have to agree about the wings being too small... Makes the Fuselage look too fat or something. On the bright side, I image it wouldn't be too hard for someone to make a custom pair of wings and recast them in colored resin and sell them by the pair.
  8. Now that Yamato is going to release a somewhat obscure color scheme like the VF-1A Angelbirds, it got me wondering just what might be possible. The inevitable result being a list of candidates. Obviously some are more likely than others, but I thought I'd post what I thought was possible all be it in some cases very very unlikely. I also thought some of you could help fill in all the obscure TV and DYRL schemes I missed. 9. Not sure where to put this, but I'm going to be visiting Akihabara/Tokyo in late Oct. Obviously I will be doing some major shopping. One of the possible items on my list is the VF-1J super stealth. I'm wondering if those in Japan, or those who have been there recently could comment on the availability of the super stealth. Basically I'm wondering what people think the odds are of there being any around in a few months. I don't want to miss out and am debating weather to get on now or wait. I know it's a risk if I wait, what I'm trying to figure out is how much of a risk. Also, I'm wondering if anyone cares to comment on what new items of note will be coming out around Oct, so I know what to keep an eye out for. Here's my list so far: 1/48 VF-1J super stealth 1/48 GBP-1S low vis armour MP starscream EVA Soul of Chogokin Tetsujin 28 Soul of Chogokin Kaiyodo Armored Core kits Various NightmareB4 Xmas and Corpse Bride collectables Binaltech Mirage Any suggestions?
  10. My Girlfriend will be glad to hear that. The NB4xmas and Corpse Bride stuff is hers. I'll have to look into the Jun Planning stuff. Never hurts to have a few gifts in reserve. Yeah, that V-Gundam is 1/60. In fact that was the main reason I bought it.
  11. Cross post from here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=18562 Finally picked up a glass cabinet from Ikea to display my humble collection. Nothing rare or of particular interest other than perhaps my Transformable lego Optimus. I'm pretty pleased with the cabinet and plan on getting more. 13. You know the more I look at these cad images the more little things bother me. Don't get me wrong, the thing looks great, Yamato has my money and they deserve major props for breathing life back into Mac +, but hey, it wouldn't be macross world if we didn't voice our fan boy observations. My list of changes if I could make them. (in no particular order) 1. Bigger gun pod 2. longer wings and bigger rear vertical fins 3. Narrower pelvis so leg aren't so far apart 4. shoulders angled up 5. wings mounted on hips instead of on thighs
  14. Damn!... Ok, but do they know of it's existence? Do you know if they've at least seen pictures of it? I'm just curious if Yamato knows how high the bar is on the YF-21. Ok, I understand The D"stancE is a resin kit and a toy will have to be more robust blah blah blah . And Yamato my not give a damn about the D"StancE kit, but considering The D"stancE is a 1/72 scale custom kit made by one guy (AFAIK), I hope Yamato knows it has it's work cut out for it. That is if they're going to make a 1/60 YF-21. Which I'm sure most of us are betting they will
  15. Ok Graham, I know you can't say anything about the prospects of a 1/60 YF-21, (even though it seems like a no brainer) but can you at least confirm if Yamato knows of the D"StancE YF-21, or if they have a copy? I have been dreaming of a toy version as good as the masterpiece that is the D"StancE and am thrilled that it may come true. Oh and the YF-19 looks good. Although I must say I'm not really thrilled with how wide the hips are or the tiny gunpod. But I always find the CAD drawings a let down anyway. Too sterile or something. Luckily the actual toy always looks much better, so I have high hopes for the 19. P.S. just incase anyone doesn't know what the D"StancE YF-21 is, check out the link http://park1.wakwak.com/~jasshy/yf21.html
  16. Not sure it you're still taking orders, but I'd like to be added to the list for the Vf-0/Vf-1 stickers. Thanks
  17. Damn Hayao Kakizaki! Do you work for Yamato sales department? Either way, I'm sold. Can anyone suggest a good Online retailer for the LV2? My usual retailer isn't carrying them and Twin moons is sold out. I'm thinking of trying "Lost and Found Toys" Anyone have any experience with them?
  18. Thanks a lot Hayao Kakizaki, I was trying to resist buying one of these, but now I think I'm going to have to get one. BTY any chance someone could post side by side pics of the LV2 and the cannon fodder? I'd like to compare the the tan colors. Or in the very least can someone let us know if there is any difference between them? Thanks
  19. Not sure if this has been answered yet, but is the tan color the same as the VF-1A cannon fodder, or even slightly different?
  20. Don't know if it's been posted already. If not, enjoy...
  21. Here are a few that have crossed my mind: Limited edition Yamato 1/48 all metal VF-1 A bare metal aluminum precision milled 1/48 VF-1 with all head variants. I know I know, but imagine an indestructible polished metal 1/48... It would be quite the centerpiece. Yamato 1/60 YF-19 and YF-21 I would love to see Yamato take what they have learned with the 1/48 and the 1/60 VF-O and take another shot at Mac +. And since were talk'n dreams here. I'd love to see Yamato hire that d'stance guy to work on the Mac + design team. His YF-21 is the bench mark for Mac + transformable kits as far as I'm concerned. (If you don't know what I'm taking about check this out http://park1.wakwak.com/~jasshy/yf21.html ) Yamato 1/100 macross toy line. I know some might argue we don't need another VF-1 toy, but I for one would love to see what Yamato could come up with for this small scale. Plus at this scale every VF-1 variant, destrods, bad guys, dioramas and the like wouldn't be out of the question. An added bonus would be to see Yamato put Toynami to shame yet again. 1/32 Gasaraki Tactical Armours I'd like to see a Raiden armour with great poseabibly that could perform the "seated position" without any parts swapping like the 1/35 bandai Kit needs. I'd also like to see a nice weathering job so it looks less like a toy, this was one thing (among others) that turned me off of Yamato's Votoms line. I'd also want it to be made of ABS. I'm not a fan of PVC figures. Bandai MFG (Metal Frame Grade) I for one would love to see some sort of toy/model line that was based on fully articulated metal frames. Don't know the particulars, but I just want some solid toy/models that can hold crazy poses with joints that can be tightened so they don't become ragdolls over time. Basically a new generation of chogokin that puts the diecast where it should be, in the joints and structural members. Microman metal material force I really like the look and poseability of the microman line, but don't like the lose joints or how the arms pop off at the biceps. I would love to see a limited edition aluminum microman material force figure, with joints that can be adjusted for tightness. Basically a bare aluminum version of the limited Toys r us material force figures 80's GiJoe Classic 3 3/4" Joe line reissued with old school packaging. That, or I'd like to see Microman style super poseable 80's style joes with realistic weapons and accessories.
  22. That's them... Thanks rikiryou. These look like a lot of fun. I just might have to get a set to try them out. Thanks guys
  23. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I remember seeing some neat mecha building toys on HLJ, but for the life of me can't remember what they're called or who makes them. They're kinda hard to describe, the closest thing I can think of is an anime/mecha version of Lego's Bionicle series. Basically theyre sets of various parts that can be combined in various ways to create different mecha. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and could post a link or a name I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
  24. Has anyone tried submerging parts for a period of time? I'd be curious to see if the dye penetrates the plastic and if the excess could be removed.
  25. Wow this takes me back! The show was actually shot in Toronto. My older sister was a storyboard artist for the computer graphics company that did the CG for the two robot badies (can't remember thier names) Anyway, I got to go on set and see the sets, miniatures, props and junk. I even got to meet Hawk, Tank and Pilot. Haven't thought about that in years... Good Times.
