  1. The 1.5 Gundam preorders will start soon (¥48200 tax included). Some pictures from the Tamashii Nations store: https://www.passion4fun.com/bandai-metal-build-gundam-00-revealed-chronicle-1-5-eyes-gundam/
  2. I get your points on the Lego building. They have been mostly facades in my childhood too (see 6080 or 6392). And I get that you can easily modify the sets because of the basic nature of Lego blocks. However, with this train station it looks like this is even easier. Just buy three and bush them together like books on a shelf and you have a whole building (of course it is not so easy see for example the elevator). Rant: I also find it difficult to modify current Lego sets with other pieces from current Lego sets. For one thing, they are build with contrast pieces inside that makes building them easier (supposedly). Your bright teal and pink comes to mind. Then you have too many colors nowadays. I was trying to rebuild the Minecraft turtle house and I had three slightly different shades of green to distinguish and sort out. You also have too many different pieces so you are trying to find what you need in a see of greeble. This makes it all in all more difficult to build something on your own. Compared to the 80s where you had a limited palette both in colors and pieces (my child mind was blown discovering a brown Lego piece in my first Pirates set). With the Arctic sets I enjoy them from afar. I didn’t mean to imply that only kids can enjoy them but rather that Lego designed something that my kid self would enjoy. Nowadays my Lego collection is fairly limited to basically Minifig scaled OT Star Wars vessels. My budget (mostly time and display space) is limited so I have to pick and choose what I collect and not just buy what I think looks neat.
  3. I think the biggest flaw is that Hasbro/Takara (and this is an assumption on my part) are using the same manufacturing resources for their collector lines (MP/MPG/Haslab) and their $4.99 soap bottle toys. If they design a toy that requires some sort of finesse in production (tight tolerance, crisp paint application, sensible material choices ) their manufacturing resources have trouble building them properly and implement proper QC processes. I have experienced many toy lines from different manufacturers and Takara products have the shoddiest quality of them all. They have many of the issues mass produced toys for the retail market have. Which is not that big of an issue when it is a $20 toy for a young child that will break it eventually but a big deal if you spend $300 on an end all be all collector piece. What is the saving grace is that their engineers are able to design a transformation that is fun, engaging and rock solid. Something that Bandai and Sentinel fail at more often than not.
  4. Thank you. Your recommendations are much appreciated. I think the second book is what I was looking for.
  5. Hello, I have quick question: I’m looking for a coffee table book of the Kenner 3.75 Star Wars toy line. It is a birthday present for a friend who had a lot of these toys in the 80s but lost most of them. They are also not in the toy collecting fandom. It should contain nice pictures of the figures, vehicles and play sets and maybe some write up on the history of the line. Is something like this available out there? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
  6. @M'Kyuun that sad to hear. I hope everything will work out in the end. I really like the design of the City train station. However, this seems like a set designed (either by accident or on purpose) to buy two or three copies to build a more substantial building that is not just a facade. Other sets like that are the icons Great Pyramid or the 3in1 castle sets. The Arctic sets look great I would loved to have those as a child. Makes me wished they would do an Ice Planet set in the Icons line (but this could be a Monkey’s paw situation).
  7. There was a sale going on for an EU shop for the May 4th Star Wars celebration so I bought Jabba’s Sail Barge. Now the only thing I’m missing for my Lego Star Wars collection is an UCS Imperial Shuttle. I greatly dislike the old UCS one (the color scheme and the cockpit; I also don’t like the wing construction but I don’t think you could do better at that scale) so I hope Lego revisits it in the future. Oh, and while I have a Minifig scale B-Wing (75050) I think a bigger one in the style of the $100 X-Wing would be awesome.
  8. While Chrono Trigger is my favorite video game of all time, I’m not a huge the 2.5D semi pixel art style they implemented for the Live a Live remake and such. If they want to sway me over with the remake, they need to do something really, really special. The SNES version is a flawless masterpiece to me. I know I’m setting myself up for failure but the remake will only succeed if it makes me feel like my 14 year old self playing Chrono Trigger in 1996 on a CRT TV on an original SNES. I still have that SNES, that controller and that cartridge. But no CRT and I’m not 14 anymore.
  9. I just had the idea that it would be funny if Hasbro would scale down Omega Prime to scale more accurately with the mainline and sell it as a Commander/Titan toy. It wouldn’t technically mean that Hasbro sells a Haslab product at retail and they could max out their investment.
  10. I wonder if I will be able to order one via HLJ/amiami. The Seed Freedom one looks cool and is not too on the nose with the source material.
  11. Wotafa’s review of the Zeta Gundam: Looking at more reviews I wished they would have found a way to cover the hinge in the chest. Looks way too much like a toy. I wonder if we will get a Zeta Plus (red and blue creamsicle) from that mold. I would also like to add that the Metal Build Zeta looks like a Transformer; what are you doing Bandai?
  12. Metal Build Hyper Mega Launcher preorder at Anime Export (¥13980, pay now): https://anime-export.com/index.php?product=91561 [edit:] sold out now
  13. I can understand that. For me the word that comes to mind is "regular". It feels like a (Metal) Robot Damashii release missing something special. It could very well be that this perception changes in hand but looking at reviews it feels very mediocre (but not in a bad way).
  14. I’m not surprised. I’m sure the outlook of having to pay a high tariffs payment probably doesn’t help with enthusiasm from the US fandom.
