  1. Roy- Instead of complaining about mis-use of the "Report This Post" button, how about a thread explaining what it is for, when to use it, and what happens when you do use it. Does it send a link to the very post which is being reported? Does it only send the text that the reporter writes? We don't know. You are a Mod, yet you are complaing about something that no one here has ever officially had explained to them. You have the power to enlighten us. Do so.
  2. Nah... no donations. I like my MW free of charge.
  3. ...and the guy with the cooool bike gets laaaaiiiid all summer long!" That has to be one of the worst voice-overs I've heard in a long time.
  4. Thank goodnes! I was right in the middle of Mzero Ep 3 when I was dropped and then it kept saying my connection was refused. I thought I made you angry!!! I'll be waiting with bated breath. p.s.- Thanks for the DiVX advice!!!
  5. Not really. Alot of the time when I color one of my pencilled images the lines aren't much cleaner (if at all) then Culverin's pic. The trick to getting clean fills is to use Layersusually set on darken or multiply. Also, on order to ensure consistant fills, you'll have to be ready to use the Polygonal Lasso Tool, which is the best one for selecting specific areas.
  6. VF-4 by itself. This thing was actually drawn on 3 sheets of paper and then pieced together and enhanced in Photoshop.
  7. Lestat- I know where you're coming from. Trust me, with the lighting flares I had decided to use, having Minmay's eyes be darker looked really weird to me. I guess I can't please everyone... Anyhow- Minmay by her lonesome:
  8. Go to THIS THREAD and scroll down to my tutorial from November 10th. It's basically how I color a majority of my artwork. If you have any ?s, post them here and I'll try to answer them.
  9. Ummm, you forgot the most important problem with the 1/48... "Why can't it's eyes light up like the MPC?!?"
  10. Shin, is that done on a mouse, or a graphics tablet?
  11. Out of all of the images on the pic, the one I'm least satisfied is Misa. But, ask and you shall receive.
  12. I was thinking that, but then decided that the image would be too cluttered. It's true... great minds do think alike!
  13. From dictionary.com: I'd say it's pretty damn close. Realistically, a merc is nothing more than a trained gun for hire, which is not exactly the same as the "Kill Squad" scenario that JsARCLIGHT suggests. I'd say these men are mercenaries, since the one common motivating factor is money, and sometimes the "danger" (or the thrill of it). The reported problem , it appears, with these "private security firms" is that very often they don't hire very well-trained individuals. Also, I guess the real military has issues with their professionalism as well. Here's a quote from an article in this week's TIME: "Those Blackwater guys," says an intelligence officer in Iraq, "they drive around wearing Oakley sunglasses and pointing their guns out of car windows. They have pointed their guns at me, and it pissed me off. Imagine what a guy in Fallujah thinks." Either or, until more (if any) information arises regarding the specifics of the ambush, including any actions taken by the Blackwater employees, we can only base our judgments on their actions from what little we've learned already.
  14. I wouldn't trivialize the loss that way, especially considering one of them was a very close friend of my buddy. I hate to say it, but 4 people brutally massacred out of 8+ billion left in the world? Unless the dead are personally known to you, it is trivial. And these guys knew the risk, they knew they were being paid well for it and, unlike our armed forces, they had a choice to be there.
  15. Here's the new wallpaper I've put together. Minmay, Hikaru, Misa and the VF-4 were all hand drawn first (Misa and Hikaru in pencil, Minmay and the VF-4 in pen) and then scanned in and colored individually. After that they were pasted together into the wallpaper, with some Photoshop filters thrown in. As always, the full-sized 1024x768 wallpaper can be downloaded RIGHT HERE, where it is posted at YellowLightMan's Macross Fan Creations Gallery. If there is enough interest, I will also post the individual pics as well, for anyone who wants to see them. Anyhow, without any further ado, I bring you:
  16. Not bad. The second one (standing) doesn't remain terribly faithful to the lineart, especially in the face, and I think it suffers for it. Also, the paint jobs don't look to great, either.
  17. Correct, sir!!! I'm goping to finish all of the principal images and then work on the layout. I had on original idea, but everytime I finish a new image, the layout seems to evolve. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe I'll do multiple layouts with the same images.
  18. BoB??? I am not BoB!!! Nope, no vectors yet. I'm still learning how to accomplich what BoB does with vectors. The skirt (as are other parts of the outfit, which are not seen yet) was all done with paintbrushes in Photoshop. I'm still fiddling with the sketch for the VF-4, and hope to have the whole image compiled shortly.
  19. All WIPs. Even non-visual, if the creator feels like it.
  20. WIP. Work in Progress. It is not uncommon to want to show off your material before it's actually completed. So, quite often, you end up creating a WIP thread, only to abandon it once the work is complete and create a new thread showcasing your creation in all of it's glory. So I thought: Hey, let's do a WIP thread instead! A WIP thread is a good idea for many reasons: 1) It'll generate interest in your project, not unlike a movie trailer. 2) It'll serve as a testing range where you can solicit advice, suggestions or criticisms on your work thus far. I can think of many times I've been stumped and someone here helped me along! 3) It'll cut-down on double threads for the same project. This will keep things neat and tidy. Also, it can serve as a general meeting thread for ideas, discussions and likewise regarding all types of Fan Works. So, I guess I'll start things off. Here is a new wallpaper I'm working on. Any of you should be able to guess the theme. The images below are jumbled, not properly sized (because I haven't done that yet), still in the sketching stage or, in one case, non-existent (because I haven't done that yet, either). Enjoy.
  21. Looking great Roycommi! Sorry I've been slacking lately. I lost my job (well, it's still there, I'm just not doing it anymore), and have been job hunting the past week. And then I got frustrated and started working on a big drawing designed for wallpaper. I'll get cracking on the rest of those drawings shortly!!!
  22. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love your style. Even on your first Wacom try, it still looks great. Damn you and your Wacom!!!
  23. Here's a good one:
  24. Watch it again, both the beginning, end and the DYRL intro. Kakizaki's helmet looks blue to me.
