  1. Thanks for the heads up. Just seen it and pretty disappointed with it. The whole series lacks any direction from start to finish other than to show off new mobile suits. The whole thing just feels like a toy advertisment masquerading as an anime.
  2. Buster and bastards aside, back on topic, i got this in my mail yesterday. Top Front Behind Beneath Contents Gawd.... Its the Wonderfest Summer 2006 limited edition buster machine nana gou (that's 7 to you ) sculpted by F-Face, the person that brought you the poseable rei and asuka figures as well as his famous RaCaSeal figures. The 100 units sold at the convention were eaten up in 5 minutes after the line was opened. I was one of the 1st to form the line, but unfortunately wasn't the 1st freaking 100. Scary otakus. Anyway those left in line were given a chance to own this by pre-ordering the 2nd run made, to be delivered in 2 months time. So I did....for 10,000 yen. It was delivered to mr. tokyohunter himself as they only deliver to a Japan address and I was there at WF with him. So finally it has reached my hands. The pictures of the Nono on display was very impressive. I had to get one. But little did i know that this was going to be a resin kit that required me to drill my own holes. After examining the kit, its mostly moulded in the actual colors, except details aren't painted like the clear orange visor, the mouth, the eyebrows and the panel lines. Looks like i'll have to contract someone to make this kit for me. Drilling holes on soft (did i mention that this costed me 10,000 freaking yeN?) fragile resin isn't my kinda thing. 3. Toy of the year, anyone? This toy is definately AWESOME.
  4. The next kiss player...atari and whatshisname....roles reversed.
  5. You're missing the point if you even have to bring in "splinter cell". The "buster" weapons seem to be unique only to Japanese sci-fi media and have been repeated in alot of them. Have you seen something named as "Buster Cannon" in any other English media? Ouh i'm sure there'll be stuff like "Tank Buster Cannon" or "Duck Buster Cannon" to denote what they "bust" but that's besides this question. But its obvious you do not have an answer. So i'll wait for someone who does. Btw interesting to note, I found out Buster Sword has the same katakana as "Bastard Sword" so its a transliteration. As most ppl know a Bastard Sword is a huge sword. It could be that the "Buster" word was transliterated from the word "Bastard" in all other incarnations. "Bastard Cannon" ? XD
  6. Its engrish in the way its used in anime/games. It always seems to describe a big cannon/gun. Not exactly dictionary.com usage. I was just wondering what's its meaning is in Japanese. The English usage, not quite how its used in Rockman, Gunbuster is it?
  7. On a slightly OT note, i was just wondering, where does this engrish word come from...."BUSTER". In may Japanese games/anime this word is always used to describe something BIG....i think. Examples: Cloud's Buster Sword Rockman's R.Buster Buster Gundam's....uhhh....buster cannon? And of course.....Gunbuster.....was wondering if anyone knows how this word came about or what it actually means. Another example of a widely used engrish word in japanese media but not used in actual english is ESPER, which is basically a ESP-User, to describe people with Extra Sensory Perception or very simply, psychic powers.
  8. Cannon fodder Garland anyone?
  9. So Graham, time you sized up and made people aware of hot HK music/movie stars. MW isn't a blog (yet?) like Dannychoo.com, so its unfair to compare that way, kensei. If Graham has a blog, it might hawter.
  10. Here's my mini review after spending about 1 hour to transform and play with it. Out of the box, the thing stinked of mold release. As the grey/black color was glossy, you can see the greasy stains left behind by the packing guy and on some occasions finger prints. Nothing a good wipe with a wet tissue can't fix. The buster machines are heavy and solid. Additional parts can be attached onto them, mainly a big bottom fuselage piece for both BM-1 and BM-2. These parts are the only parts that need to be removed when transforming to Gunbuster so the toy is only 98% perfect change, as these bottom fuselage parts won't go anywhere in Gunbuster mode. Transforming into Gunbuster isn't as complex as I thought it would be. Every joint has a ratchet joint that moves easily. Unlike the MPC starscream, this thing is fun to transform. For BM-2, you have the option of removing the upper fuselage and leave it out of GB mode for a sleeker backpack. Unfortunately leaving it in GB mode does look kinda fugly as the part flops behind. I'm sure this only happened to me. I have a very slight paint chip on the yellow/orange part of the chest area. Abit disappointed by this cause its in front and it bugs me that its there. I have to find a matching color to dab that part with. I didn't have time to play with the accesories yet, but generally i think every part in the box, quite impressively is kept in the display stand. Some under the stand, and some within the control tower itself. And boy is this baby packed with accesories. Really awesome. Overall the toy is pretty fun. The joints in BM mode are strong. Its size is smaller than a 1/48, in case some people are wondering bout the actual size. I might get pictures up tonight. Overall, great toy.
  11. Why would they shut you down? You're running a fan site and they should be honored to have someone such as you. Then again i was never sure how much "free use" they'd allow to fans when it comes to copyrighted images.
  12. Didn't have time to pickup mine. GAH! Guess its tommorow then.
  13. Obscure transformers toy Scroll to the bottom http://home3.highway.ne.jp/nenriki/weapon.htm
  14. Hmmm...should i wait for the eventual release of the theatrical edition on R1?
  15. HOLY (*!&@*(!&@( MY INDEPENDENT IMPORTER TOLD ME MY GUNBUSTER HAS ARRIVED!!! w000TSS!!! TONIGHT IS GONNA BE CHRISTMAS!! .....and we still haven't determined the price. >_<
  16. Awesome! Thanks for the pics, azrael. Only thing it can't do is the extendable arms of the Stamen.
  17. Did u guys know about the Dendrobium and Neul Ziel pack which is in the same line (forgot the name) as the Alpha Azieru that was recently released? I saw a picture somewhere. Shall post when i find it.
  18. Fort max's source said it was a GFF Original Dendrobium. Dendrobium ver. Ka? So its not really confirmed that the "prototype orchis" will be used which btw i think is a custom kitbash released in an old issue of Hobby Japan. We might see something new in the new release. But here's hoping too that they'll make a seperate dendrobium only release. I'd hit it.
  19. zomg...i knew the existence of the show, but now i after actually seeing it, my childhood has been raped.
  20. That sucks. I want the actual Dendrobium. Now we'll get the prototype orchis. Sigh!
  21. I thought the story was just cheesy zeonic propaganda. Hahaha. The fight scenes were awesome though.
  22. Yeah we knew about this. The Top movie will be shown in Japanese theatres on December 11th if i'm not mistaken. Didn't realise that the DVD will be released so soon after the movie makes theatrical realease though. We're hoping the R1 release will be using this Japan version. And the monochrome parts are from episode 6. The whole of episode 6 is in monochrome.
  23. I only visited Tokyo, and i went to this well known bath house/hot spring there, in Odaiba, the same viscinity as Tokyo Big Sight. Its called Odaiba bath house. If you're goin to Kyoto, there might be a better and genuine hot spring resort there.
  24. Yeap here. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...20557&st=40
  25. I bet around Christmas.
