  1. So hey hello, here's my 2 cents; I really like the VF-2SS and probably more the VF-2JA - I first saw Mac II soon after 'discovering' DYRL after getting hooked on the first 1/3 of Robotech - ANYWAYS; I like their design progressions from the 'original'. This toy - although a valiant effort and looking pretty good, I find to be really lacking - in what should be more if it is to be the only opportunity to have it in toy form. Mostly it's the proportions and compromises that have been made to this incarnation - which in a lot of areas looks simply like they scaled up the old kit. It looks static - in the anime the designs and movement where very dynamic. The way the joint have been implemented and also their range of movement leave a lot to be desired. Case and point (ignoring the top/rear thruster pin fiasco) is the bicep 'snap' - really? why not a double jointer elbow and bicep swivel? In addition to this the pauldron and shoulder joint could be executed in such a way that allows a wide range of movement - packed up with inner components of nylon for starters. The legs overall - I'd have fattened them up a bit for more anime accuracy - but keep in mind the look in fighter - like how Arcadia did the YF-19. Give them a strong silhouette - as they are, they don't have visual interest - or at least consistency in the other design choices made on the figure. Ankle tilt, bruv - you must have this. All the above critiques lay the way fro gerwalk to be disappointing - I love gerwalk, it's one of the main things that gives Macross that special edge over other designs and visual story telling. It needs to be squat - strong stanced and aggressive - like a pissed off mantis or bird. That gunpod ain't even got a nozzle. I hope someone attempts this toy again - or better yet - with SAP in mind. Better still, the VF-2JA
  2. Thanks Mr.March! I'm very rusty too - been forced to pull my finger out (tell me that isn't just Aussie slang?) and go all out, doing a catch up semester between the main semester so I can continue second semester... U__U It's tiring but i'm at least enjoying the work.
  3. Here's some work I had to do for an assignment - good old fashioned pencil & pen on paper. Coloured in PS ofcourse. I haven't drawn traditionally in a really long time. Be gentle.
  4. Are the 1/48 GBP DYRL hands different from the 1/60 yammies/arcadia DYRL hands? I had no intention on making them as they (DYRL gunpod holding hands) already exist!
  5. I should probably mention that until midnight tonight (Expires July 12, 2015 at 11:59PM PDT) there is free shipping at Shapeways - pretty damn good for most countries!
  6. I plan on having the thigh attach to the existing hip plug (that is 2 part housing on the ball joint) and making everything from the hip down, new. So it should be compatible on all the 21/22 series - the bracket that would be inserted to stiffen up the body would be a neutral or metallic grey, so no issues matching there. I recently met someone who knows a guy locally that does resin casting etc and might be able to get these relatively cheap and ready made to order. We'll see how that goes and maybe it'll open up possibilities to make other kits i've made be relatively affordable. No plans do do anything Bandai related except maybe the arm cannon - but until I get the measurements I need, no for now. I should stress that it will not be transformable with the legs attached - they'll need to be removed for fighter mode. Gunpod storage would definitely be on the cards as I'd be remaking the plates. Thanks! I saw a '19 in Ozma colour and loved it so much - but I don't wanna paint my Arcadia 19!! I thought the scheme would translate well to a 21/22 - But I'm still 50/50 with that and doing a grey or green TV Rau inspired palette - we'll see. See above with perhaps a chance of casting these in close colours. As above, no plans to do anything Bandai related atm. Personally I don't like the elongated nozzle or slim design of the new 19Adv. gunpod - I'd sooner make an Arcadia gunpod that is anime accurate. EDIT: Did a quick mock-up of parts list; Green; Primary build Red; Secondary sculpts
  7. So I'm sitting here doing a uni assignment - and colouring a drawing and got carried away; Now I'm looking at my old yammie VF-22S Gamlin type, and thinking - I really want to make those anime accurate legs and some improvements to the toy... What kind of interest is there in this? I know I've mentioned it before, but what I'm thinking is a new assembly from the hip joints down; removable for fighter mode and usable in gerwalk. Probably redo the hip plates too. I've been thinking about a bracket to insert to make the nose more locked in battroid. Also change the detailing in the inner helmet somewhat. In any case will tinker with it and update when there is progress. PS - I meant to say I want to give it an Ozma or Rau inspired paint job.
  8. Veeeeeery sexy... http://i.imgur.com/7hR2k0v.gif
  9. Aaaaaahah, everytime I see the the VF-19A - I get the urge to repaint my Arcadia 19. One day, one day. Or a Skull Focker special.
  10. Hmmm, same here - I had a half dozen or so to begin with (parents moved to Australia and did well financially after 5 years working many jobs) but it was more than likely Soundwave or Optimus. I very distinctly remember begging my mum for a TF at woolies (any Aussies here will know) and having both Wreck-gar and Thrust in-hand and having a hard time choosing.
  11. Good luck! The design is trickier than it may appear Personally, I've decided that the X-9's HMMs are a micro-variant - otherwise it'd be MASSIVE.
  12. Here's the 4 version page; https://www.shapeways.com/product/63JKEBZDA/4x-relampago-shm-missiles-pylons I re-uploaded them all and knocked a few dollars off them. The drone is looking sa-weet!! Really well done dude - nice work on working in the gimmicks too
  13. Agreed, ChaoticYeti - on all points. I applaud that some people are taking a chance and producing this toy. My only crits are those biceps... Yeesh. Would benefit from a double joined elbow for a much more natural flow in the figure. Second - everything from the hip/intakes to the tip of the toe should be scaled/squished to make it shorter slightly to give a better silhouette and weight, and also match the art better. Needs those chunky thighs and cankles. Fighter mode would benefit from this too - still retain the sleekness with a shorter ass. Just my thoughts anyway. Personally I think they should of done the VF-2JA:)
  14. X-9 lookin' fine! I've always wanted to make one too - but the line art isn't the best. Plus the scale is all out whack - I'd say yours looks great in scale - and I would've got about the same scale - BUT with the ventral view with the HMM bay... it is either much, much bigger than the stats say OR it has it's own type of HMM, much smaller than on the valkyries.
  15. I have a model of this somewhere on an old hdd, before I started making 3D prints. Might have to track that hdd down.
  16. Bad ass. Excellent work! What more can I say? Very nicely done
