  1. Isamu dropped flares and cut his engines. At that point, the flares would be the biggest heat-source for the mini-missiles to track. They cut their engines then restarted them. That's why it seemed like they were floating. That would work. Unfortunately, I believe conventional training tells the pilot to throttle up and move. No TV budget ever warrents good animation for a long running series. The only TV show I've seen go for long stretch with good animation is Ghost in the Shell:SAC, but there are factors there that even it out.
  2. Well, why do you want to know? And if you don't have a DVD-ROM, why not go buy one? They're quite cheap. You have to tell us why you want to know all of this because it still sounds like you want to do something none of us here want no part of. You can get your answer via PM but you're not telling us why you want to know this. And it still sounds like you wanna copy those disc you got. I'm sorry, but that's how I see it.
  3. 1) Maybe because they weren't doing complicated manuevers in those series? You don't really see people in SDF and M7 pulling off cobra manuevers in the series or banking hard. Well, you do see Gamlin pulling off a roll/turn-on-a-dime move in M7. He was a little stiff when he first did that. Of course, when Max does his (spoiler, highlight to read) roll and shoot move in his VF-22 in episode 44 and 49, the POV is on the fighter and not on him. And the Fire Bomber crew do wear flight suits. Basara's stage outfit also serves as his flight suit. However, he does take liberties of not wearing it sometimes, and they actually wonder about Basara when he goes out and performs some moves without problems. But that remains unanswered. 2) Emergency lights in DYRL?. I'm sure the yellow bands are either lights or more likely reflective material (like that on the jackets of firefighters) It might also serve as armor. Better than the old spandex-look of the SDF flight suits.
  4. Ideally, yes. In practice....probably not. It's hard enough to use the anti-aircraft laser on later VFs. Also, the units hold micro-missiles, which, most-likely, use a heat-seeking targeting system. And deploying those missiles right next to your engines probably isn't a good thing as you may have that one lone malfunctioning missile come after you. Better to be safe than sorry.
  5. What, they both can know how to sing to a beat?
  6. That's kinda funny cuz Tomino said that to Fukada back when he was doing SEED. In an interview with Fukada, Fukada went to say hi to Tomino (gotta greet the man who started it), Tomino said to Fukada, "I just tried to unify everything and now they hired you to break it up again. ARGH!!!!!!!!! Well, good luck." (or something to that effect). Of course Tomino hates Bandai with a passion so......
  7. Probably not. Saviour is Athrun's new and permanent mech assignment. It was kinda hinted that Freedom would be back (MSiA, it's in the credits.... etc). Freedom wasn't destroyed by Le Creuset. It lost limbs but it's reactor a majority of the main body was still intact. Quite salvageable. Strike? For sure, no. That thing is quite gone. Strike Rouge...maybe. Too early to tell. One thing you need to take into account is that the current set of Gundams are much more capable than Freedom or Justice. Minus the nuclear reactor, they would be just as capable as Freedom or Justice. So why bring back a mech that was blown to itty bitty pieces.
  8. Yes yes, join the crowd over there. Cagalli is trying her best to hold onto an ideal but times have changed and the circumstances aren't the same. It's been a rough 2 years on her and she can't keep up. That's why she's the doormat she is now. She's trying to stop a train wreck all by herself. It's reflecting poorly on her character but place yourself in her shoes and you might see why she is a doormat.
  9. Often, anime is drawn by a team of animators, usually split into groups. That's the reason for the inconsistancy at times on longer running series. It's normal. Ignore it. I'm sure they got someone to ferry him to Earth orbit. He still has muscles and nerves. Modern-day prosthetic arms do have electrodes that read muscle activity, allowing someone to move a robotic hand. So Andy's prosthetic is feasible. This has been around for a while.
  10. In fact I just answered a question in the newb thread about where to get 'em. Looks like a few places still have them in stock (not all volumes but you can shop around at various stores) so it's not like they are hard to come by. Probably as soon as the Animeigo stock is all sold, HG will probably try to resell it through ADV's distribution catalog.
  11. I suggest you go out and buy the set ASAP as Animeigo has discontinued production. You should still be able to find all 9 DVDs if you act soon. http://www.animeigo.com/Products/MACROSS.t http://www.robotech.com/store/viewcategory.php?id=14 Here are a few places that still have them in stock: http://www.tmpanime.com/ http://www.digitaleyes.net/ http://www.rightstuf.com/ http://www.animenation.com/dvd-anime-dvd--...m--macross.html http://www.ebay.com/ Now to your question(s): As serious as Robotech can be. Maybe more...maybe less.... Yes and no. It flows as well as a 36-episode TV series should. You only have our opinions which is for another thread (not this one). The only thing I can tell you is go watch it. If you don't like it, sell it on Ebay. You can listen to us all you want but the only way to satisfy yourself is to watch it yourself. We can sing our praises (as most of us will) but it takes a little effort on your part as well. Opinion question. This thread is not for that. What you do get with the Macross DVDs is a entirely restored cut of the show. Unedited and remastered. Along with a few fan-oriented extras. Robotech was edited with footage from other series (Southern Cross and Mospeada) to form Robotech. Certain footage was cut/edited for the US audience (edited for television; nudity, gore, that stuff). Dialog was added and edited for the US audience. However, a good deal of the translations match the dialog in Robotech:Macross Saga. Please see this thread for more information: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=228
  12. Or you could just look here every Saturday morning.... http://mbs.jp/gundamseed-d/index2.html
  13. You're thinking of Robotech. http://www.robotech.com Southern Cross or the Robotech Masters (Robotech) Mospeada or The New generation (Robotech) Macross != Robotech.
  14. I find it funny, watching Kira play surgen with MSs. Just watched episode 13. It's a fun episode. Nice to see the old gang still got it.
  15. Some highlights from some more episode previews from the mags (eps 13-16): (highlight to read) Ep. 13: -Yuna has convinced Cagalli that their marriage is the only thing that can calm the people (or ORB) -Kira, once again, realizes that he needs to protect his friends and is told the location of Freedom. -Fight between Kira and Shinn is most likely rumor and may not happen. Rumors have also have it that Kira will let Shinn win. Ep. 14 -Cagalli sends word to Kira that she will marry Yuna and sends something else along with the letter -Lacus and co. have no place to call home now. Very high chance that ZAFT was behind the plot to assassinate Lacus. She can't go to PLANT and they can't go back to ORB. -Archangel launches (with everybody in ORB uniforms) -This is possibly where Kira will "kidnap" Cagalli. Ep. 15 -Athrun returns with Saviour to Carpentaria. -Minerva joins FAITH. -Order is given to attack EA fleet guarding Gibraltar. Ep. 16: -Attack commences. -Minerva and fleet meets a heavy blockade and most of the fleet is destroyed. -Chaos and Abyss are among the EA fleet. -Cliffhanger-episode possible. Try not to read in to too much as the magazine previews keep varying their wording. Although the overall summaries sound pretty much the same across the board. Remember that there will be a recap/highlight special between episode 15 and 16.
  16. I'd have to question time constraints. TV schedules are planned well ahead so it went for 49 episodes, period. However, like all shows, in order to move a story, you have to edit out some material. Episodes for parodies and little things don't fit so they gotta go. However, that material can be saved for extras on video releases. That's most of what Encore! and the M7+ short episodes were. Extra material. It doesn't fit with the flow of the story and it doesn't add much to what is covered in the overall story so it becomes extra material. And it lets Kawamori do parodies which he didn't have too much of a chance to do in M7 compared to SDFM.
  17. http://www.anime.net/macross/mecha/united_.../f14/index.html Mostly avionics.
  18. Anyways...back on topic. We don't know. Why? Because the UN probably shot them all down. If there was any upgrades with Overtechnology, most likely they were not fleet-wide updates. Individual planes here and there perhaps but not to every MiG in the Anti-UN. In short, your answer would be "No."
  19. Yzak has his ZAKU. And since he's not the focus, I doubt he'll get any update to his ZAKU anyways. Rey? Maybe. But he seems to be doing quite well in his ZAKU.
  20. Alright I guess. Of course the Cartoon Network showings were edited. But the DVDs are the original broadcast from Japan. It's kinda expected that they would be edited for TV. The DVDs are dubbed and subbed and and I don't think they are dubtitled (most of the dialog correspond to what I remember the fansubs were). If they were dubtitled, we would have heard about it like Zeta.
  21. That's the mid season replacement MS. Just as Kira got a new MS, Shinn will be the same. But we probably won't see that till April.
  22. I remember from the Macross commentary on the Animego set, the name is derived from Macbeth. http://www.anime.net/macross/mecha/united_...ross/index.html Scroll to the bottom.
  23. You know there is an easy fix to this "posting spoilers" problem. Next time you wanna post spoiler text (images can be hosted off site), use the "color=white" font-tag. If they wanna read it, they'll have to highlight the text. Granted that the only skin in-use is the standard Invision skin with the white background at this moment. All you have to do is Test spoiler material (highlight to read): The only way to read this is to highlight it. Simple as that. Unfortunately it's too late since there have been tons of spoilers already posted here.

  25. From the way things are, both sides are trying to reinforce ground. The EA won't move in for a direct assualt on ZAFT's bases but at the same time, won't allow reinforcements to come. ZAFT will do all it can to reinforce their bases and hold the line with as much force as necessary. Both sides are at a tug-o-war point. Until we see one side move against the other, each side will just be holding the line. http://www.gundamofficial.com/worlds/ce/ba...d/glossary.html
