  1. I have to agree with the statements. I see no apathy toward the genre. More like, if you are serving turd from any genre, don't expect people to eat it. Smallville was on for a good 10 years. It made itself presentable to a very wide audience. It did very good work with its characters and used good stories. Inception performed great at the box office using a good story and good characters. So for the question of is it due in part to apathy towards sci-fi these days, I'm gonna say the answer is a definite "No". If you have a good story and good characters, then people will watch it, regardless of what genre it is. If any kind of Robotech-revival/reimaging/thingy happened, people would watch it if it presented itself well. It's not doing that now and probably won't until someone else steps in.
  2. What do you mean?
  3. My thoughts exactly. 2012 isn't looking too good for anime, in general. If the Rowbowtech/Macross-line wasn't returning decent numbers and if they couldn't move they guy to another unit, you don't have much of a choice but to layoff. Simple business practice.
  4. The January 13th issue of EW. This Week's Cover: Our 2012 Forecast issue takes you to the set of 'The Dark Knight Rises' (EW.com)
  5. It's not really Season 2..."Second Generation" is more appropriate.
  6. And it must be 3 hours long. And about your ban. Disecting every little detail...down to the pixel.
  7. If you're talking about Millais, this month's magazine scans would say otherwise... Regarding this week's episode,
  8. I'm gonna have to agree with the Sith Lord here. It's nice of them to give us extras like the pachinko game footage, but will Blu-Ray really make this 30-year old cartoon look any better? They'll be upscaling video. The sound is still mono. And as EXO said, I don't know if I wanna see some of those scenes in HD.
  9. In the words of Kawamori, "God knows." That's his story. That's my story. And we're sticking to it.
  10. You can try but the there has been some issues noted with animated GIFs and the forum software.
  11. ‘Akira’ Not Dead Yet, Despite Vancouver Office Closing And Test Option Expirations With Lead Actors (Deadline) So WB wanted to make alterations???
  12. For those who are reacting to the price, I'll just leave these:
  13. Or they can just shelf it till they're willing to spend more money. $60-70M? That sounds like WB doesn't have a lot of faith in this production to begin with. Yes, they could make a movie on that budget, but yeah, doesn't sound like they want to invest heavily. Not saying that's a bad thing cuz the probability of failure is probably gonna be high anyways, but who knows...maybe WB is actually listening to the Interwebs. Of course, WB is reviewing the budgets of 2 other movies (Arthur and Lancelot and Paradise Lost). Maybe the realized they should cut back on crap movies????
  14. Ummm...it's been on Hulu forever?
  15. ‘Akira’ On Hold (Again) as Warner Bros. Looks at Budget and Casting (SlashFilm)
  16. Like many things, it's the vocal minority.
  17. And it's Light Rifting Body.
  18. (That's all the response I'm gonna give it.)
  19. Were you looking for a specific thread? We have never had a "other anime/scifi toy" section. We have threads about other toys in the Anime and Sci-fi section, but not an entire section dedicated to other anime/sci-fi toys.
  20. No. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=19545
  21. Interview with Ken Iyadomi. There's still a chance that Turn A may come, but it won't be under the BEI label. But considering how Sunrise's licensors are, it would have to be a hefy investment on any company going for the Gundam license.
  22. I'm not terribly worried about the Japanese market as that's fairly easy to figure out who has a stake in what. Bingo. Again, bingo.
