Awsome, I remember going to an airshow to see the Blue Angel's when I was just kid.

Sorry to read about the bad news. In the past three years I lost two grand parents from both sides of the family. It hurts because I was so close to them. I can't even imagine loosing a wife. As many of the members have stated it is important to be strong for your family and yourself. I'll say a prayer for your wife.

It's difficult to value new toys because they've been out for only so long. We end up paying what the dealers ask. Toys like the 1/48 line have size and icredible detail which cannot be matched with vintage valkyries, but the new valkyries aren't vintage. I do like both eras of Valkyries but collect more vintage. I read reviews and listen to the conversations going on. In my opinion I honestly don't feel many of yamatos Vf's are overpriced but may not fit in everyones budget. I would just save up my money and buy the valkyries I like and when you can get something for cheaper why not. You' re paying for the demand, detail, and materials of the toy. One example of an out of this world toy is the Halfeye Getter Robo. When I see pics the toy still blows my mind. In the past I've payed more than a thousand dollars for a toy. My friends thought I was crazy. I really had to save my money. Would I do it again? Yes, If I really wanted the toy I would. The only thing I miss in many new toys is I prefer diecast metal. I know some people don't care for it and we surely won't die if a toy doesn't have it, but I like it. Several of my vintage toys have it. I like to see a toy age with metal. It's an aging piece of art. Diecast metal has this cold heavy feel. Even nicks in the paint where the diecast is showing can be neat. Comparison of valkyries depends on the person. Of course there will be differences and maybe it won't matter for others. We are all collectors.

PC Toys also produced a Korean 1/55 VF-1j bootleg. On the box it has a window displaying the upper portion of the Battroid. On the top of the box it says Robotec. On the outer legs of the battroid it also says robotec. It looks just like the unboxed 1/55 in your pic.

This is an excellent Idea. I'm shure many macrossworld members have customs to display. Maybe a collections thread should also be started. Macross members could send pics of their macross toy displays.

I agree, as a vintage collectable you did ok. The box itself is rare. I would not sell it. The value will eventually rise. I myself own takatoku valkyries and a recently acquired Yamato Vf-1j 1/48. I still won't sell my taka's. I enjoy both worlds.

The Takatoku super valkyrie isn't a bad collectable. The detail is not the best in the west but, it will last and it's the first super valkyrie ever made.

I like to keep my valkyries in a display case. Once in a while I take them out and transform them for myself and others. Even though I payed a whole lot of money for them that's how I enjoy them. I would consider this playing with them. When some collectors build custom valkyries they like to make shure the transformation functions correctly. In a way many of us play with our valkyries. As long as you're not throwing them across the room destroying them, why not?

Beautiful work. If a valkyrie could be a women I'd jump on her. The textures have a very nice tone. The detail work looks immaculate.

Vintage Takatoku and Bandai valkyries have already established a reputation in macross history. They have been collected by people all over the world. Some of us grew up with the Robotech series and played with the valkyries. This leaves a feeling inside of you that can always be remembered when you pick up a vintage valkyrie today! I have many friends who collect new reissues and yamato releases. The'yre beautifuly detailed and transform great, but they still give me props for my vintage collection. Toy makers knew they could make tons of money due to the popularity of these 1/55's thats why they decided to provide us with remakes. I still cherish my vintage valkyries more than ever. I give recognition to the new remake valkyries but, they aren't the original macross valkyries we all grew up with and played with. If you have the money and want to spend it, why not? If you want to play with it, why not? Just don't sell your self short of aything you truly desired.
