LOL. YEW. DUMB! SH*T! -
Yes, in retrospect: the original show was pretty awful. But it does have a sentimental spot. Stop messin' with our childhoods, man! They seem to be Lampooning the old show, which lends it an air of casual disrespect for the original material that's so pervasive in Hollywood with all these "remakes."

Oh I'm sure that Thundercats clip is strictly fan-made fare. But it ought to answer any and all questions as to whether it's a franchise that can be transitioned to live-action. That's just PAINFUL! And not in a tongue-in-cheek, light-hearted-B-movie-fan-watching-masochism sort of way...

Hmm, an attempt at making electric cars sexy? Not bad. Except for the grille. That could use a re-do. Gives the car a sh*t-eatin-grin look... -

Wow. 20 grand. For 75 horses. I just don't see it. -

From the little bit I've seen, looks pretty dang sweet. Didn't really see/follow the orig series, but this seems to do it justice, at first glance. The char design for the kid does seem a bit out of place though... Could make old-school giant robots cool all over again...

True dat. It was in fact, Disney's first PG-rated film. To their credit, the scene you mention was done quite tastefully--rather tame by today's standards. When Maximillian dispatches the poor, naive Dr. Durant, we only see shreds of paper flying; no blood, no shredded flesh, no gaping chest cavities or other such gore that seems to be par for the course in movies today. P.S. but yes--I'm sure it was enough to give a lot of average 10-year olds the willies, when they'd first see that sort of thing...

Meh, let's face it--pretty much EVERY movie that comes out is to some degree either influenced by, or is a rehash of a movie that's been made before... For example: Into the Blue (2005), w/Jessica Alba + Paul Walker; previews gave me the impression it was just a remake of The Deep (1977), w/Jacqueline Bisset + Nick Nolte; which was pretty much a remake of Underwater! (1955), w/Jane Russell + Johnny Gray... Event Horizon (1997) w/Laurence Fishburne + Sam Neill? Think: The Black Hole (1979) w/Robert Forster + Maximilian Schell, only cranked way-up on the intensity, and not just-for-kids fare. The number of examples are endless... I'm just a bit disgusted with Hollywood's efforts in recent years, to the point that I rarely--if ever--feel the urge to actually go to a theater and pay somebody money to see their sh*t. It's like nobody even tries to make an effort at putting any creativity or originality in the movies they're making; like it's swung to the extreme end of the spectrum [between: mere influence/homage, OR out-and-out copy/hacking somebody else's stuff], and the movies have just degenerated into poorly written re-hashes, no one even trying to come up with their own stuff--they just take what's been done before, "just pump up all the action scenes, make the explosions like crazy bigger than the first movie, let's fry some retinas..."

Pretty sporty looking. Body lines are a bit "busy" in some places, with all the edges and ridges. Shame, when you think about it though; in the long run, this thing will likely end up in some warehouse or collection for posterity's sake--or worse, they may destroy it altogether. I only say "shame" cause you know there's some Dodge engineer somewhere itching to see what could be accomplished if they snatched all that electric crap out of it and stuffed say, a turbo/super charged I4 or V6 in 'er... -
All I want to know is: when will they announce commissioning ceremonies for super-sized Assault Landing Vessels, with clamshell bay doors located at the bow for loading/unloading [and surprise attacks] of large, bipedal armored Destroi--er, fighting vehicles...

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0
reddsun1 replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm actually going back and re-watching Hokuto No Ken. LOL, it's hard to pick which theme is my favorite: You Are Shock!, or Tough Boy, Tough Boy, Tough Boy, Tough Boy! Liking the first Chapter eps the best so far. Who could ever get enough of head-popping, muscle-ripping, blood-spurting cartoon violence? "AHT AT AT AT AT AT AT AT AT AT AT AT AT AT AT!!!!!!!!!!" Not a big fan of Hokuto No Ken 2 though. Character designs are so extremely over-ripped, to the point of looking just deformed or something. Not overly impressed with the new OVA movies though. Sure, the sound is better. Sure, they're slicker, more polished than the old 80's animation. But they're still just a re-hash of the original eps...
