  1. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That bot's hilarious. And disturbing at the same time...
  2. Okay, how about: pretty much any of the mecha from Dragonar ? the hell was the slogan for that one? "Hey, it's just like Gundam! Kind of."
  3. LOLOL!!! That was F'IN AWESOME!! But it does beg the question: at WHAT point do either of those guys start to think "you know, it'd probably be a good idea to get OUT of the plane now." ?!?
  4. AFAIK, the original Eleanor still bears the scars from filming that first movie. I still haven't seen it yet, but I've heard the chase scene from The French Connection is supposed to be top-notch too. Can anyone confirm? Does it rank up there with the "greats"? As far as movie-chases go: can't leave out The Blues Brothers. That has to hold some kind of record for most-movie-cop-cars-wrecked-in-one-scene/film, or something. *Hey Jake. Jake. I gotta pull off.*
  5. Yup, I think this is definitely some home-made stuff. Probably with Flash Media?
  6. Lambo cop-car? "Intimidating?" HAH!! Just head through a mall parking lot--you should be able to lose them over the speed bumps. The Benz Brabus V12, on the other hand... You've got to hand it to the Germans; they make some motors capable of truly mythic power figures. Too bad they keep choosing 2-1/2 - 3 ton luxo-boats to put 'em in. It may sound like heresy, but if I could get one of AMG's monster motors, like their 6.0L V12 bi-turbo [612HP, 737lb/ft! ], and stuff it in an intermediate size musclecar chassis, like a '67 or '70 Chevelle...talk about a screamer. Well, in hindsight: I suppose a big-block Chev would respond as favorably to forced induction too...
  7. seen the TV spots for it. looks like it's going to continue in the tradition of all the earlier films; i.e. an insult to real road/drag/pretty-much-any-other-legitimate-form-of-racing everywhere... *best Mr. Stinkmeaner voice* punk a$$, bit*h a$$, fake a$$, chump a$$, gay a$$ BEYATCHES!!! sorry, but their playstation-inspired stunts, wooden acting, and jiffy-pop storyline/characters just comes across as a statement of how little regard/respect they have for racing, and racing drivers. It's a damn shame that it's been almost 40 years, and Hollywood still hasn't been able to surpass LeMans. As flawed as that movie may have been [pretty cheesy acting, the Ferrari 'crash,' the race ending], it can still be argued that--from a racing standpoint--it's still the benchmark by which most anything else can be measured.
  8. It's pretty hard to argue against choosing a LEGIOSS as a permanent mecha, seeing as how it comes equipped with a Ride Armor in its internal storage bay as emergency equipment. It's like getting a 2-for-1. If I can't have my gray/white VF-1J, then gimme an AFC-01I Iota...
  9. It's hard not to choose one o' these babies as a permanent mecha mount... Although, it's not as imposing in its "fleshed-out" form as the anime version--you gotta admit, mobility looks seriously compromised. But it's still pretty dang mean lookin', ought to make just about any enemy combatant clinch up in the arse when they see those missile hatches start to open.... Dudes, HobbyLink Japan is having like, an insane sale on some of their 1/48 Yammies. Super Max & Millia 1Js, Armored 1A Wood Land ver's--for only 100 yen more than the cost of a regular 1/60 v2?! I'm sorely tempted to pick at least one up.
  10. If it's gotta be a Gundam, how about RX-78GP01-Fb? It's another Kawamori design, and we know from the anime that it pretty much takes another Gundam just to beat it...
  11. so this isn't just some Photoshopper's fantasy?
  12. Woof! If they ever make a Judge Dredd sequel, this thing would make a perfect mount for the main character. Or maybe even the villian. I suppose if a pure adrenaline rush is what you're after, then there's no school like the old school. With spartan accomodations that will provide a much more visceral experience than most modern supercars will, the Cobra--real or replica--seems like a good choice. It's the route I'd go, if i had that kind of dough. $20K will get a pretty high quality replica. Another $5K or so to put a good stout SBF in it, and you'll end up with a power:weight ratio that's pretty doggone enviable. I recently drove a replica--albeit, a pretty well worn, crappy one--but it was still a hoot.
  13. Wow, racing simulations have sure come a long way. It's a far cry from the good old days, banging off the crash barriers in Gran Turismo on the ol' Playstation...
  14. Is it flawed? Sure. There are a couple of obvious shortcomings. For instance: the engine nacelles. a) note how small they are. b ) also see how far rearward they're mounted. They're way too small to house engines that would make sufficient power to push such a large craft--especially if bomb-laden--through the air. No way you'd fit a Daimler V12 in one of those. Add to that: the small surface area of where the nacelles are mounted to the body, in relation to their length + the engines' weight being focused at the opposite end; I'd say that would make this thing have a tendency for engine mount/nacelle failure if it were put through any vigorous maneuvers/high g loads. But hey--the thing just looks dang cool. As movie props go, they get an A+ for effort. It certainly looks the part of some "evil Nazi secret weapon" from that era.
  15. This is pretty amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggvzcGdZsTc
  16. Aw, you beat me to it. Always liked that plane from Indiana Jones....shame they blew it up.
  17. I suppose if it couldn't be a VF, then maybe a... I like the "Zaku heritage" in the design, only meaner...
  18. I've always wanted a VF-1J a custom scheme like Max or Millia's, but w/gull gray as the primary color instead of blue or red... I know, it's a 1A in the pic, not a 1J. But you get the idea. After all, having custom colors/markings on one's mecha greatly increases the pilot's chances of survival.
  19. I can certainly appreciate and respect the amount of skill and car control it takes to drift a car the way some of those guys can. Here's a good example of superb car control: But take it with a grain of salt. Mind you, this guy obviously got MULTIPLE takes to get such awesome results. Pay attention to the mounted camera on the car, and position of the sun/daylight at various points in the vid... 1:35s - "the world's fastest/loudest weed eater!" But yes, it is kinda silly to try to create a sport that flies in the face of all conventional wisdom and practice about how to make a car navigate a closed course as quickly as possible. Everything I'd learned in my brief exposure to motorsports was about how to get a car to NOT do things like that, in order to go quicker. I know, I know; it's not about who's the "fastest." Formula Drift...the WWE of motor sports...
  20. Not sure if it applied to this thread, but.... Somebody finally did it! Someone finally did a real "Mospeada" style sport bike! Oops!!! never mind--it's just a Photoshop!!!
  21. Given the current economic climate, motorsports as a whole will inevitably see a bit of contraction [temporarily]. So you won't exactly see Pagoni selling those racing Zondas by the bushel. But rest assured, they will likely sell at least 1 or 2, even if to some private collector(s) who never even race in any sanctioned series. The people who have the disposable income to consider buying a car like that don't give a whit about practicality or cost-effectiveness--they're going to be the kind of person(s) who want to make a statement, the kind of statement that only a car like that could make. Personally, I don't see pissing away $1.8mil on one stinkin car. With that kind of dough, one could get a couple of well-sorted GT3-Rs, and fund a top-notch professional outfit for a whole season. That'd be my dream year!
  22. Funny stuff. IIRC, H. Ford said in an interview that it was supposed to be a full-on choreographed fight scene--he was feeling ill that day, so he just ad-libbed. And the rest, as they say....
  23. Yes, rumors of a Mad Max IV have abounded for the past few years. Apparently the project sputtered to a halt due to "terrorism concerns" when trying to select filming locations a couple years back [THANK GOD!]. I and II are f'in awesome. Beyond Thunderdome, while a bit of a letdown compared to the first two, is still pretty good--it offers some degree of closure for the character. They need to just let it stand as it is, leave well enough alone... *She's meanness put to music and the bit*h is born to run!*
  24. Oh, but of course. I loved watching that show on Saturday mornings when I was a kid.
  25. LOLOL!
