The MW Automotive Thread Quattro SpecV

Wow, who knew that people could be movie-truck fanatics like they could with movie cars, eh? Apparently, there's a guy in MO who owns surviving film-production vehicles from both the films Duel, and Convoy. Both of those are childhood favorites. LOL, I bet that Peterbuilt filling your mirrors would scare the sh*t out of anybody old enough to remember that movie... Both are from pretty iconic movies--but symbols of a by-gone era as well. With the advent of technologies like cell-phones, satellite navigation and the like, it'd be pretty hard to make movies like Duel or Convoy these days--and make them plausible, anyway. Apparently, this guy would be willling to part with the Duel Peterbuilt, for the right price... -

Station wagons can be pretty cool, too. I suppose if I had to have a wagon, I'd want something like: I used to pass by one like this on my way to/from work--only metallic blue--that I kinda had a chubby for, for a while. Yup, with a nice stout 350 sm block in it to give it some oomph--make gettin' the groceries a real hoot... -

Oh, here's one from a just-started thread elsewhere: New Tomb Raider Movie. Jesus, it's like they aren't even getting dressed and coming in to work any more. Just mailing in their ideas from home, sitting around in the kitchen in their pajamas, eating Cap'n Crunch and watching MTV all f'ing day or something. Lazy bas***ds... -

Pretty much any Barber Shop or Beauty Shop themed movie. We really, honestly DON'T need another would-be-hip-hop-star-turned-actor using their notariety to sell tickets for yet another cliched formula-pic, full of stereotyped characters, toilet-humor and paint-by-numbers screenwriting... -

I'll go back to a really old post--in the UN-OFFICIAL COLOR SCHEME thread--for these examples... C'mon Yamato. Give us a 1/60 in one of THESE schemes.

Oh, but of course. That's why those would make the perfect symbolic instruments of death for whoever made that shark vs octopus crap. *best Beavis voice* The streets will run red with the blood of the infidels!!! *ungh heh heh, heh* -
I dunno, not really feeling that color scheme. The gray's just a bit too dark. So why can't Yamato give us a VF-1 in "Dark Bird" colors, like the one seen briefly in the orig series? That can be considered "canon" can't it? Or how about SVF-41 Black Aces?

LOL, that Justin Timberlake look-alike was so bad he was funny. No, seriously--the guys who made this utter shite should be ceremoniously bludgeoned to death, with old movie reel canisters containing the collective works of Ed Wood and Roger Corman... -
Hell, I thought that was what Hollywood was ALREADY doing...

JSI 1/18 Scale F-14 Tomcat Announced
reddsun1 replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That Skyraider toy could potentially rival even the mighty Cobra Rattler for title of "most-heavily-bristling-weapons-loadout-on-a-large-scale-toy-plane-ever," if such a distinction ever existed... The upcoming JSI F-14 is gonna make the old GI Joe Skystriker look pretty pathetic in comparison... That w'site that's taking pre-orders also has some toys from a company called Skyworks Toys. They're pretty cool looking, and it's neat that they offer models that no one else does, like the Hawker Hurricane and Mitsubishi J8M1 'Shusui.' But MY LORD, they're expensive! For 725 bones, that sum-bi*ch ought to be able to fly around my back fuggin' yard! -

A bit off-topic, I know [sorry, didn't feel like hunting up that other 1:18th thread] Looks like Admiral Toys is planning to release a 1:18 scale Skyraider, after production runs of their upcoming SBD Dauntless are completed. Found the linky here: http://themodelhangar.com/forums/admiral-t...-skyraider.html I know some posters have expressed a wish for more modern aircraft in large scale--I guess this one is "sort of" a jet-age subject, even if it is a holdout from another era Regardless, looks like it's gonna be one cool lookin' toy--er, collector's piece. -

military toy shop dot com is taking pre-orders for the 1:18 Tomcat, so I guess it's a certainty? errata: they're taking pre-orders for Strike Eagle and Su-27 [shengyang J-11] as well. "Estimated price around $200.00" -

Looks like the hood's raised more at the rear. Could just be a cheap/easy way to help evacuate hot air from the engine bay. AFAIK, Falcon owners down under used that trick a lot with their cars back in the day. -

JSI 1/18 Scale F-14 Tomcat Announced

ah yes--the VF-1 is just a bit smaller... VF-1: 46.7 ft [14.23m] F-16: 48.5 ft [14.8m] Is there another modern fighter with comparable dimensions, to provide a good frame of reference? I wouldn't mind a non-TF 1/18 VF-1 at all, if it meant having a super-high detailed fighter ver. in such a large scale. Would make an excellent centerpiece of any collection. edit: certain pieces would still need to be movable of course, like the legs/feet & tail fins--to allow for legs-down VTOL stance, and the addition of Super Armor... -

That would surely become the holy-grail of Macross merchandise. I want one too... It should/would be basically the same size as the 1/18 F-16, shouldn't it? I'd love to see one of those big-honking F-14's in person though....good lord! where in the world would you display it? And you KNOW you just got to get your living-room flight on....TWO HANDED, no less! BRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWHHHHH!! PEW! PEW! PEW!
