How can you not be attracted to a woman who can drive like THIS? -

More proof-positive that: not all cos-play has to be "bad." GOD BLESS the man that invented body-paint... ...quite possibly one of the greatest inventions of the modern era. -
"Tis far better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." --Anon "Never underestimate the power of large groups of stupid people." --a funny t-shirt I saw once edit: Lord knows I've provided confirmation of that first one enough times, in my life. No matter how much we may learn or know about something, we should be humble enough to remember that there will always be someone out there who may know just a little bit--or a lot--more than we do.... ...and we should begin machinations to bring about their downfall forthwith.

Sequels that we DON'T want to see!!

Main Force Patrol: The Charlie and Roop Chronicles Hollywood's propensity for shameless milking and merchandising of properties with useless garbage spin-offs makes me shudder at the thought. I mean I like the franchise and all, but they REALLY need to let the Mad Max trilogy remain just that. All the talk of a MM4 is pretty annoying, just beating a dead horse. Love it or hate it, Beyond Thunderdome gave us a small measure of closure to the story of Max Rockatansky; MM1: "man forsakes his humanity, becomes 'monster' for revenge"; MM2: "man regains his humanity, becomes a hero", MM3: "hero becomes legend." -
Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time

OMG just saw one on cable that I'd almost forgotten about [thankfully] Anybody remember Arena[1989]? Definitely grade-B cheese. But the starring cast features some staples of the sci-fi film industry, like Hamilton Camp, Claudia Christian, Marc Alaimo, and Armin Shimerman. Still doesn't save it from being a pretty crappy movie. But if you like dude-in-rubber-suit alien action, then this is yer cup o' tea. -

Yeah, that's the ticket! Never mind that stuff I was saving/planning to get: the new intake manifold, tube headers, head porting/polishing...who needs that crap to make HP? I needs to gets me some stickers! Horse-powah!!!! -
LOL, all this talk of twisting, forcing, latching, etc. of the crotch is making me squirm in my chair... I've been debating whether to pick up a 1/48 1J Max from hobbylink Japan [still on sale!], and now they throw out more temptation to bite the bullet and spring for a 1/60 v2.0 with M&M 1Js? AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!! P.S. Does anyone know if retailers sell replacement/repair shoulder hinges for earlier-release 1/60 v2.0 VFs? I want to eventually collect my "Skull Sqn" of VFs, but I've seen posted elsewhere that only Yamatos released AFTER the VF-1D have the fixed shoulder pins?

Nah, you gotta think bigger... 1/18th scale!!!

OMG, neat! I don't get to follow the show as regularly as I'd like, but I almost hate it that they've revealed who the mighty Stig is, now. Part of the fun was wondering just who this well-nigh-invincible God of the tarmac was. slight bit of a bummer; almost like if Snoopy finally got the Red Baron, or Wile E. Coyote caught the Roadrunner. -
Kinda sad really, when you think about it: that Hollywood recycles and re-uses themes, ideas and imagery so much so that someone can take footage from a hodgepodge of shows nearly 20 years apart in production, tie it together--and still get it to flow [relatively] seamlessly into a little "mini-movie." Good riddance, indeed.

Oops, my bad--I should have given credit where it was due. That was actually not my flikr page, but one I just happened to find with pics of that latest event. But I concur; I saw that race, and #202 was masterfully driven. Very entertaining indeed. -

Love the GT40s. Wide-body "Wyer-spec" versions are the epitome of sexy...could sit and stare at those things, study the body and mechanicals for hours. Had a chance to drool over MkII and Cobra replicas at the track this past w'end. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tonyadcock/se...57619324706791/ Wasn't too keen on some elements of the Cobra though--I guess some replicas are more equal than others. Ergonomics were sh*t. Because the engine was set so far back on the chassis, the trans tunnel is way wider at the front, making for undersize pedals that are offset way over to the left--just like the replica I drove in Vegas, in fact. I'm relatively sure it's anatomically impossible to properly heel and toe the little bugger [damn sure couldn't in the one I drove]. Makes me wish I'd paid more attention/looked closer when I was working around the genuine ones a few years back, to be able to draw a better comparison. As far as that replica in Vegas--which was set up pretty much exactly like the Superformance in VA this w'end--it was a real hoot to drive. But a little part of me was disappointed; the truth wasn't quite the match for the legend, so to speak. I didn't have enough time to get truly comfortable/acclimated with it; but in short: Ride quality: It rode like a dump truck Driving technique required: Pretty much drove it like a dump truck Driving position: Bloody awful Fun factor: Absolutely great You want an idea of the seating position? Okay, get an old-fashioned straight-back wooden chair, place some boxes directly in front of it so that when seated, your're resting your feet on them about 20"-24" off the floor [pretty much legs straight out]. The pedals will be about 1/2 scale to "normally sized pedals"; gas pedal will be where the brake normally would be, brake where the clutch should be, and clutch offset a little further left of that. Dead pedal? HAH! what dead pedal? It's a bit of an oxymoron, but there's something appealing about the simplicity of them, the brutality. There's the intoxicating bellow of the exhaust right down behind your shoulder. And the acceleration! Even with the little girly Mustang motor, that worn-out little roadster would run like a scalded cat when you romped on it. Would I still get one, given half the chance? You bet your arse I would. These things [Cobras] are like a spiked club brought to a boxing match. -

I kinda like the '64 AC Coupe. well, except for those things at the tops of the wheel arches. otherwise, a rather sexy beast... edit: the front end appears to be "one piece" design for the major structure. My God, can you imagine the amount of time and skill it must have taken to form that? -

Interesting little tidbit I found when I looked more into the Bizzarini GT mentioned earlier. Apparently, this same fellow had a hand in the design/construction of prototypes for this little "Supercar that never was" And from AMC, of all places. Was apparently designed and nearly ready to hit the market almost a year before the Pantera, but was killed by the company beancounters. The front end has a very subtle "Mach 5" look to it... There seems to be a following amongst AMC fans. Some are even trying to produce replicas. What strikes me as odd though is: why would you try to reproduce so faithfully a car that was known to be fairly unstable at high speeds? "...Testing results started to come in from BMW and Turin Polytech. BMW proclaimed the body assembly (a boxed sill backbone structure) one of the most rigid structures that they had ever tested. Speed runs were limited to 160 M.P.H. due to body lifting because of the lack of a front spoiler." -

Haven't seen it often [thankfully], but I get a good chuckle to meself when I see a Chevy Cobalt go by, with Ford/Mustang-style racing stripes across the top and on the rocker panels. -

Yes, imagine how cool someone would look driving one of those....paralyzed with fear at the prospect of pulling into a parking lot over the entrance curb.... Nope... Needs more little wings and air ducts.
