  1. So has there been any word on a reissue of any of the renewal vf-25's? I missed the ridiculous window they had and would love to get one of these, but not for the price of the vf-4 from yamato.
  2. I'm fairly certain there would not be a 1:1 buy rate for a repaint for those of us who bought this one. I love this toy, but investing another $340-$360 is going to stop many who only bought one of this thing from buying any more, regardless of paint scheme. New paint schemes on 150-250 toys is one thing, investing in two of these is getting closer to $1k than many people are comfortable with. Speaking of milking, tell that to bandai. I am sure there are plenty of people out there who would buy a reissue of the renewal vf-25's as they missed out on the ridiculously small buy windows (ahem). I'll agree that it makes sense they would go ahead and release the 2012 paint scheme down the road, but there are arguments against it. As you said in your own review, this valk is relatively unknown and barely saw screen time with Hikaru in the pilot seat and that was a music video. No screen time in combat. More people know this valk from exposure to the game than FB i would wager. We will see I suppose! Ill put my dollar on this being it, or a reissue of this paint scheme in 6 months.
  3. Finally mustered the courage and transformed this thing. Actually pretty intuitive to do, some of the joints were super tight but thanks to you guys knew to watch out for them. Had an arm swivel that if I hadn't known about it I think I would have broken apart the arm assembly instead of working on the joint. I can see how you could blunt the chin pretty easily. Missiles falling left and right. But it went back into fighter mode fairly easily where it will spend the majority of its life I think, its just too pretty of a bird! I haven't seen anyone mention this yet and perhaps it was just me, but I had trouble getting the peg you have to swing out to connect to the bottom of the nosecone when locking the hips down.
  4. felt the same way after pre-ordering. Totally worth the money now that I have the final product in hand.
  5. Those look great! I haven't done stickers since I was a kid, have yet to put any stickers on my other 9 valks, but I need to get the skulls on this bird! Any tips for effectively a newbie?
  6. Exactly correct, thanks! This thing is really well designed! And heavy! Surprisingly heavy, it just feels solid and looks amazing! Thanks again for the tip there!
  7. Got mine today as well! Took less than 24 hours from being released from customs to my office. I love this thing! was curious though, the left dorsal fin on mine seems to be able to go beyond the angle it should stop at for fighter, unlike the right which stops pretty firmly at the correct angle. Anyone elses do this? Not worried about it per say, just curious if this is a bit of a flaw or intended. Anyway, totally worth the wait, loving this thing, took the spot on my flight pose stand!
  8. Mine is stuck in customs at LA as well, ordered from NY and arrived at customs on the 31st. Oh good. I had some orders from HLJ that shipped before the 25th that have not gotten here yet either. Wonder if they are stuck as well. Sucks.
  9. Looking at it closer, there is a screw that holds that hinge in the wheel well of the landing gear. On the tight side the screw is at its stopping point. On the loose side, the screw does not hit its resistance point, it spins no matter how many times you rotate. I wonder if the screw is either too small or it stripped the hole during assembly? Would a slightly larger screw help?
  10. I just received my vf-22s sturmvogel and it unfortunately has a floppy left wing. The problem is not the joint with the pin that the wing relies on to fold down, but the joint right behind it that allows the wings to fold further around. This joint is inside the wing. The tight side has no vertical play to that second joint, but the floppy one does. Anyone have this problem, and more importantly does anyone have a solution? Thanks!
  11. Yeah this is part of the doubts I am having. Every valk I have bought had a review attached to it before I bought it. I hope review pieces get out pre-launch, but it being a web exclusive... well. If there was a SET or CollectionDX review it would ease my trepidation a bit. Dumping $400 on a toy that looks like its one of the more complicated ones made, meaning more points of failure, before anyone critiques it is just a bit of a bitter pill to swallow. I imagine my roommate from years ago who bought the original yf-19 from yamato for $200+ is feeling this wherever he is. I imagine most people who bought the vf-25 version 1 toys are not exactly happy anymore. So here's a question, which valks have you all bought that were just released and had no reviews associated with them? How did that turn out?
  12. OK, not trying to be a kill joy, but it's been a few days since I placed my pre-order at NY and I got to say, the longer I wait the more I am questioning paying $400 for a valk. Not sure I am going to make it to the release date without talking myself out of this one. Anyone else having second thoughts after pre-ordering or am I the only one?
  13. I live in the northeast heights, a little south of central.
  14. Oh what area of Abq do you reside in? And yeah, I like the fast packs but they kind of chunk up a really graceful looking fighter mode on the 11c.
  15. In for one, NY, pay before the release date. 399.01 shipped to US. Yikes, time to set some money aside every month!
  16. Ha good eye! No I don't design games I actually work with space vehicles for the airforce. We do hi fidelity physics simulations and other things I can't talk about.
  17. Well I don't turn on the overheads at work cause I hate them, and our office has 100% UV blocking windows. So neither? In general though not sure. Is the white on the TV versions paint? They seem painted. The vf-11c is a dull white that also seems painted. Anyone know?
  18. Heres my humble collection. They get to keep me company at the office!
  19. Here is my humble collection. Get to stare lovingly at them at work, perhaps it affects my productivity? Meh!
  20. To the point of who would buy one: I fall in with those that argue it has had more screen time than the vf-4. The fact that there was a movie with this as the central valk means there are more people who would recognize or be fans of this toy when compared to the number of us hardcore fans who saw rick play with a toy of a vf-4 once for literally 1 second and saw it for a few seconds in a music video or unlocked it in a fairly obscure video game. I would buy one for sure, but as someone else pointed out its about price as well. For example, look at the vf-4. If the vf-4 comes out and is 400+ bucks... sorry can't justify that. Not sure I could pull the trigger at 300, and I'm certainly not hurting like a lot of other people are in this economy. I bought a vf-11c and I love it, but Im not really seeing where the 100 extra bucks went into it compared to a vf-1 v2, so I can sympathize with people who didn't pick one up because of the price point. I justified buying it actually because of free shipping. The point I guess is that as much as I love the vf-2ss design, if it's going to be crazy like 400+, not sure I could buy one. Doesn't mean I don't want the toy any less, and maybe because I am such a fan I would go ahead and buy it, but you want a toy to "fail" like the 11b or c then price it wrong. Anyway, I hope we do see one for those of us who love this design, sorry people who get uggg at the thought of it. I can't stand the vf-19 kai clown version, but I don't begrudge it's existence, I'm happy people who like it got a chance to have a killer toy of it!
  21. Yeah my problem is the actual ball joint where the swing bar goes into the leg. All my other valks I can pick up by the leg with no movement in the body. This new one moves as that ball joint is not as tight as the other valks. Can you take the leg apart to put glue on the end of the ball joint or something?
  22. Couldn't find an answer when searching through the forums, so sorry if this has been answered before. A link would be great if there is an answer already! Just received my 1/60 vf-1s with optional parts today. The hip joints on this new one are a little looser than any of my other yamato 1/60s. Not to the point of causing pose problems, just noticeably looser. I was just wondering if there is a way to tighten those joints? Thanks!
