  1. The standard Bandai Evangelion kits are about the same size as the 1/100 scale Gundam models. As far as quality goes, they're comparable to the standard 1/100 Gundam models. If you've built any of the Gundam Seed 1/100 scale models, you have a fairly good idea of what to expect from the Eva kits.
  2. I just got my Garland and am now wondering if I'm the only person that's having trouble getting the cockpit hatch to close properly...
  3. I had no idea Hirotaka Suzuoki was so prolific. This is definitely a great loss to the anime world. Who was the other?
  4. Wow, bsu legato beat me by a few seconds with the mention of the Space Cobra tv series and Technovoyager. I can, however, add Space Runaway Ideon to the list. I've been watching it recently thanks to a recent fansubbing.
  5. Ahh, but it's not back then. According to the story, it's the year 2000, and the city was named Metropolitan. As far as I could tell, Metropolitan doesn't seem to be a renamed Tokyo.
  6. I love the 40s-50s art style of this OVA. I gotta start downloading it asap!
  7. I'm curious to see if anyone else is like me and has the first 3 DVDs of the original release and the last 3 DVDs of the Remix version.
  8. Depends on what part of Japan you're visiting. I was in Tokyo this last March towards the end of the month. The temperature was in the mid-50s with little rain.
  9. To further elaborate Minmay's family background, her father was also half Japanese.
  10. Ah, yes, the good old Guges landmates, particularly the Guges Ds from book 4.
  11. I'd love to see more Megazone 23 mecha by Yamato. I'd especially want them to do the Wilde Sau or the production model Garland.
  12. I, too like the Jagd Doga. However, I'm not too thrilled about all the white lines that are all over the figure.
  13. As with any import game, your PS 2 will need to be modded.
  14. I'm sure the planes would have looked much better if he used an even larger scale for the carrier.
  15. I've seen stranger things than American engines in Japanese cars and vice-versa. In my local auto shopping magazine there was a 2000 Ford Escort with body mods from no less than three different cars. This car had a Silvia front end, S2000 taillights and Z3 fenders. I have no idea what this person was thinking about!
  16. I'm no expert, but the 430 engines used in two of the mustangs are much larger (7.0 liters) than the RB26DETT (2.6 liters), so yes, the Windsors would be quite a bit heavier than the Nissan engine.
  17. I believe that in the original Gunbuster, FTL and Warp were two different means of travel. When they go to FTL, they show the ships accelerating to speed. With Warp, they show show the ships either disappear instantaneously. or enter into a "window" into hyperspace.
  18. Britai's ship was firing multiple beam cannons from the front of the ship. When you see them in the shot where the camera is looking directly at the front of the ship you can clearly see that it's many beams being fired. When the camera angle switches to show a 3/4 view of Britai's ship firing its weapons, the multiple beams sort of look like one large beam weapon. It's just the viewing angle and the way it's animated that makes it seem like Britai's ship has a large-scale beam weapon.
  19. I'll stick to Britai's ship not having a split-bow cannon for two reasons. 1. TV series lineart not showing it has one. 2. It's also not listed in any of the stats given in several Japanese sourcebooks.
  20. On another note, the term ASS-1 is also used in the timeline that appears on pages 54 + 55 in the Macross Perfect Memory book. I noticed, too, that there aren't any cases of Britai's ship splitting in the TV series. Only in DYRL do we see this. All TV series lineart would seem to indicate that it wasn't a feature in the series. The movie lineart does contain illustrations of Britai's ship splitting as we see in the movie.
  21. In the TV series only one type of Zentraedi ship had a splitting-bow cannon. It is mentioned in the Macross Compendium. Gun Destroyer ?C?ͼBR> Government: ZENTRADI Ship Type: GUN DESTROYERS Dimensions, metres: Approximately 1500 (length) Main machinery: reactor. Cannons: One main bow-firing energy beam cannon. Programmes: This medium-scale gun destroyer is used in planetary bombardment and large-scale fleet-to-fleet engagement. 22. from what I know, no. Can you get Skylines in the UK? The G35 is just the American name for the Skyline.
  23. Despite being slow, Nanashi is still subbing the series.
  24. The cut scenes from the Saturn/PSX game were specifically made for the game and do not appear anywhere else. The movie was released in 1984. The game and its animated footage was released in 1997.
  25. Nuts! Figured that I put my lack of model complaint in the thread for the figures! Sorry about that!
