  1. They don't lock that well, at least on my copy. Try lifting the plane up without cradling the legs and see if you can swoosh it around without the legs dropping. The tabs that click into the legs from the backplate in fighter mode aren't deep enough to hold it. To be honest, it seems like those pegs are meant to help you line things up properly rather than a locking mechanism. Anyway, I pulled my Yamato VF-17S from its box and it's gone all loosey goosey on the ankles. Is there an easy way to tighten these up? I don't think stuff like Kiki's will help since these are metal on metal joints.
  2. I was never happy with my Yamato VF-17S. I thought it was a bad toy, especially when compared to their VF-19S. (e.g. weird gap in the back plate in battroid, legs are too heavy to lock in place in fighter, battroid proportions were also kinda bad, etc). Was intially hoping that Bandai's version would be better, but it has its own set of bad issues. Sadly, I haven't seen any good VF-17 yet, or at least owned any. Now what if by some weird chance, Bandai includes a set of swappable bulkier legs that are only used for battroid mode and make it into an optional partsformer. Would that make people happy? I know there are perfect transformation purists here that would hate that path, but I would be okay with it.
  3. Fortunately, swapping the shoulders is easy and takes less than 10 minutes. Just need to unscrew 2 screws per bicep which are easily accessible.
  4. I suspected it had something to do with the patterns and colors as well. Thanks for explaining it better. But I also agree with Chronocidal's comment about the nosecone hips. Having the additional bulk in that area makes the legs look shorter and thus, not as long and lanky.
  5. It's kinda weird how the proportions look perfectly fine to me with the 171, but it looks off with the 17. And it's not because I'm comparing it to the line art. Just looking at these 2 images side by side makes the 17 look awkward. Maybe it's because of the head design? Seeing a Frankenstein's monster head makes you expect that the rest of the body should be stocky?
  6. Oh thanks for sharing this. I wasn't aware there was an issue when I got mine, but I suspected something was off about the shoulders because it was much harder to get them to sit flush in the undercarriage in fighter mode. I will go an swap mine around and see if that fixes the transformation issue. Edit: Just did the swap now. Pretty easy and non-damaging to the figure. It definitely helped get everything to sit properly in fighter mode.
  7. After getting my Revival version, I think I may have the unpopular opinion that the glossy Renewal version is actually just as aesthetically pleasing as the matte Revival version. I know almost everyone here hates the glossy look, but for some reason it kinda fits the sleekness of the VF-27 and makes it look more high tech and speedier.
  8. Time to buy a new one I guess...
  9. Darn, that is one ugly looking headsculpt Basara pilot figure. I understand that it's hard to make it at that scale, but it just looks bad. The glasses look more like cybernetic eyes or something and the hair looks like wavy mush rather than the spiky hair. Other than that, really excited about this release and definitely getting it. Hopefully no QC issues so we don't have to play the Bandai'd lottery.
  10. Did they change anything on the SDF-1 Reissue? I still have my premium version so I won't get it, but am still curious if this was a straight rerelease. Come to think of it, I did get the standard release also last time. And then they announced they were doing the premium version with all the additional markings and glow in the dark paint, so I sold that off. I wonder if they will do the same thing again.
  11. Well I've never been a strongman, so maybe we're both just wimps lol
  12. But then he'd have a guitar stuck up his ass. Just kidding 😄
  13. @MKT I tried doing that earlier and just tried again now. It really won't move. How much force did you have to exert? Like enough to make your hands shake? I don't want to go past the breaking point of the joint. Worst case scenario, I'll probably have to live with the extended ankles. Edit: I tried one last time. And they finally collapsed. Thank goodness!
  14. Blue leg locks? You mean those blue ankle covers? Mine slide around freely so they don't seem to act any any kind of lock. Or are you talking about those flip out tabs at the back of the legs that connect the 2 feet together?
  15. Thank you to all the brave souls who were able to push the ankles in. You have given me confirmation that it can move, and the confidence to try it again myself. Hopefully I don't break it in the process. Edit: I tried pushing them in again and they really don't feel like they wanna budge. How much force did you apply? I can hear the plastic of the ankles creaking already and my hands are shaking from the amount of force I'm putting in, so I am hesitant to apply even more than that for fear of breaking it.
  16. Wow well color me surprised. I tried this on my Keith just now and yeah the ankles do extend. I don't think I ever tried that before since it was never mentioned in the manual or any reviews. Then maybe there is hope to collapse the ankles on the Bogue, unless it was glued in place... Anyone willing to try on their copy?
  17. The ankles are not retractable, or at least they weren't on the Keith and it's not mentioned anywhere in the instructions for Bogue. I've tried applying force but I don't feel like it's gonna budge. The ankles also have nothing to do with the placement of the arms. The only connection point they have is with the calf itself, and any other parts around don't affect it. @Graham - thanks for sharing your pics. so yours has the same look as mine. You mentioned before that your heel covers don't slide around. But I can somewhat see them at higher and lower positions on your pics, so maybe they do on yours as well?
  18. Did you get to check if yours was similar to mine? I'm waiting to hear from others who already have theirs in hand. From the other reviews I've seen, their copies appear to be similar to mine. I wonder if there's a way to retract the ankle. If not, I really wonder why Bandai modified the mold to make the ankle longer. I can't imagine it being an assembly issue.
  19. Okay I did a closer comparison between my Keith and Bogue. You can see the ankle section jutting out from under the flaps on the Bogue below. On the Keith, these are completely hidden under the flaps. Then checking the manual for Bogue, it shows that they're supposed to be hidden as well. And these next 2 pictures show how the extended length allows for the heel/ankle cover to shift around loosely. On the Keith, since the ankle is shorter, there's no room for this part to move around and it sits flush against the round ankle joint.
  20. For those of you who already have this on hand, are the heel/ankle covers on your feet just floating pieces? Mine keeps sliding around and it makes a rattling noise when I shake it especially in fighter. On my Keith, these parts seem to be fixed in place. So I'm not sure if this was a design change or they just forgot to glue it on my copy. There also seems to be a bigger gap between the thrusters and fuselage on the Bogue. I don't think they've added an extension gimmick to the ankles because I can't seem to push them in. But if I could, that would prevent the heel covers from sliding around.
  21. Personally, I loved the transformation. It was something new and fresh. Transforming the VF-1 and similar designs is boring already. The only thing that really makes the sv-262 transformation challenging for me is making sure I don't accidentally scratch any of the paint, especially the gold trims.
  22. I have the Threezero VF-1J and 1S, and I will admit that these are best roughly 1/60 scale VF-1 toys so far. They're not perfect, but they do more things better than the others. So not everything with the Robotech label is subpar, or at least not anymore.
  23. Both. I thought the Delta movies were good, especially the 2nd one. I got so hyped when Max flew in his YF-29 and basically put everyone in their place, proving that no one is really in his league no matter how good of a pilot they think they are. My only real gripe about the movies is how Mirage never really got the love from Hayate. I was hoping they'd do it similar to the Frontier movies where they changed it up (so that Hayate would go the Mirage route instead of Freya). The 2nd half of the Delta series really dampened my interest in Macross. To be honest, the first half wasn't that great either, but it was passable. The only part that got me hyped up in the Delta series was that episode when they started to explain everything that had happened so far in the lore, and how all the different events from Zero to Frontier were connected to one another. I got excited because I thought they were gonna do a culmination story arc where everyone comes together. But alas, they didn't develop it much further after that episode and just went back to that BS Windemere story arc. I struggled to finish that show even though I was a very big fan of Macross/Robotech ever since the 80s. It was so bad that it took me 2 years or more to even try watching the Delta movies after they were released because I was worried I'll just dislike it more. But fortunately, I really liked the movies and it removed the bad taste in my mouth that the series left behind.
  24. I share this same opinion 100%.
  25. It's unfortunate that they didn't rework the crotch so that it won't need the additional bracer to lock it forward in battroid.
