  1. Unfortunately the explanation of the academy mode menus isn't spot on, or so it would seem. Can somebody better explain what exactly each of the selections on the left hand side do? And better yet what the outcome of filling up each of the, um, balls with liquid do?? I'm very reluctant to do academy mode, but if I must then it's worth getting the most out of it. Just trying to get the must tune points and NN points!
  2. The blue Ingram looks good! Though the whole "C.L.A.T" thing always reminded me of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Hmm I wonder how the Blue one would look if the white bits were painted black and it had a bit of weathering....
  3. I sure hope you are right, I just got rid of my PSP! But seriously it's time to see the Macross mecha in all their glory on the PS3
  4. Oh I know what he meant, I was just making an easily overlooked comparison. Kind of interesting that the very first variable fighter could augment it's wings in ways that could only be bested by a VF that was put into production almost 40 years later. The SV was way ahead of it's time, same with the Sturmvogel.
  5. I'm a huge YF-21/VF-22 fan but there are a few major flaws with it's design. It's "limiter-off" mode makes no sense. I can see possibly a huge weight savings but it's so non-aerodynamic in this mode that it would create a huge amount of drag, so where is the benefit? Could it be in space where aerodynamics don't matter? Well then the weight savings go out the window too. Now the fact that the thrusters are separate from the rest of the leg is pretty huge though since it can have immense forward thrust in gerwalk mode. Another thing is that this isn't the only valk that can change it's wings according to the maneuver. The SV-51 can be seen in Zero doing the same "high-speed" mode as the 21/22 with the wings dipped down. Plus the 21/22 can't be stored in a submarine! But all in all if you think about it the SV-51 was supposedly the first variable fighter ever made, it was even put into service before the VF-0's. That would certainly make it the most innovative aircraft of it's time by shattering the mold. I personally would have really liked to see a sort of Macross 0.5 where we could see what else the Anti-UN had up their sleeves and perhaps a space-going evolution of the massive SV-51. *sigh* I'll keep day dreaming...
  6. What's the little blue guy on the left there?
  7. It's a Barrett 50-cal sniper rifle for 1/6 GI-Joes and what not. I also have a HK-45 and MPK with tons of attachments for them. The whole lot, including Alphonse is for sale HERE
  8. Honestly, I would rather they just include a heat shield covered cockpit that just swaps out for the regular cockpit. I mean it already comes out as an escape pod, why not just have something that looks like the heat shield and pops right in. That would eliminate all the headache of trying to get those two covers in place and it would make the whole nose section much simpler to manufacture.
  9. I'll second that. The double nuts/bird of prey are as good as a V2 YF-19 as we'll ever need. It's much improved and better looking in many ways. Plus there are enough 19's out now anyway, let's move on to some valks that haven't made a 1/60 appearance yet like the the VF-171EX Armored, where's that at Yamato???
  10. Agreed The thing that I found strange about this movie is how it started. The beginning seemed like an after thought (if that's possible) with how it just cuts into him falling with not even as much as a fade-in, or any kind of intro.
  11. BTW there is a sale at HLJ right now on the 1/24 Ingrams. The white Unit 1 is 40%-off and the blue one is 50%-off. Unit 2's are 25%-off. I wonder is Kanuka comes with the blue "USA" version...
  12. Does anybody know anything about this paint scheme and how it fits into the Patlabor story? I dig it.
  13. Well I finally got my 1/24th Unit 1 and "Special Weapons Pack". I have to say this thing really is well made. I had no trouble with the head/neck and the waist is nice and tight surprisingly. Some pics: (sorry for the lame backdrop) Remember kids, safety first. Wear ear protection!
  14. More than a heat shield I would like a different canopy all together. Something more along the lines of the VF-171 canopy would be pretty slick on the VF-22
  15. Bringing this thread back... Does anybody have any 1/18 DMZ's they want to part with?? Really looking to get my hands on one of these and all that I can seem to find anymore is the Tsuvai DMZ-05 on ebay but it doesn't seem to be as weathered as the older ones and it's kind of unfortunate the figure isn't in his pilot uniform. I do like the weapons pack though.
  16. Eh, to me the Taisyo Labor looks kind of silly, as well as most Gundams with their random mutli-color paint jobs and light sabers. In many ways the Model 97 is more "believable" than even the military labors that look more like knights, with the exception of the Helldiver of course. The model 97 looks ready for a riot and more rugged than the AV-98s. Of course all of this is just my opinion.
  17. I felt like I was going to rip the wings off my Max type just getting it out of the damn box, and I am seriously gentle whenever I remove these things from their packaging. The wings are now slightly loose. I appreciate Yamato's effort to keep things in check during shipping but the packaging doesn't have to be fort knox for pete's sake.
  18. I see, thanks for the clarification. The pics are a big help as well. EDIT: I've been watching the Patlabor TV series lately and have been wondering why there was never a toy made for the Model-97?? Sure it more or less carried the cannon fodder role, but it still got the job done. (sorry for the big pics)
  19. So let me get a few things straight here if those with the 1:24 AV-98 will chime in. It's be said that: -The heads are difficult to get out of the packaging -The neck pistons aren't connected to anything (really?? I mean really??) -The head is jammed down right out of the box and has to be delicately pushed up from the cockpit -The waist is wobbly on some The biggest concern of mine is the neck/head. Can anybody shine some more light on the situation? Maybe pics?
  20. ^man I wish that came in all black^ finally got my max type: a little unknown soldier action
  21. Ah, i stand corrected. I haven't been on that thread since I posted that.

    Yamato Sale @ HLJ

oddly enough my order from HLJ actually showed up a day earlier than it was scheduled to arrive.
  23. I for one find the MoonShooters paint scheme to be the best for the VF-22S. If somebody were to make a full transformation 1/60 of this i would be complete more pics
  24. I believe so as that looks like a flap box. Just a heads up I can speak from experience that the reissues are still pretty sketchy. I transformed my reissue VF-0A twice, delicately I might add, and this happened:
