  1. Well that is a relief. I knew about the engineering behind the VF-11 but I didn't know that it was actually larger than the VF-1, it always looked about the same size from all the pictures I've seen (that is unless you pose it with a VF-0 in the back to make it look much larger ). I'll think about it but at this point I'm much more interested in the larger more diverse valks since I already have a VF-1S and VF-1A. Though I have to admit the sale at Angolz for the VF-11B is tempting right now. That said, does anyone know if Ivan's SV-51 has been improved at all since the original release? I'm already familiar with the build since I got my little brother Nora's version last Christmas but I wanted to know if Ivan's was still one of the valks to avoid.
  2. Well I just got my VF-0S earlier this week (took a while for the order to process but the shipping was quick as usual) and I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed with it. There are a few areas that are somewhat floppy but overall it is a very solid piece. It definitely feels like the predecessor to the VF-1S in every sense of the word, not only conceptually but physically as the figure wasn't engineered to fit together nearly as tightly as either of the VF-1 valks I have. If I ever see a VF-0A for a good price I'll definitely jump on it but again, it isn't something that I have to have so I don't have to worry about burning a hole in my wallet. I do have to say that after handling both the VF-0 and VF-1, I can't justify picking up a VF-11. The VF-11 just seems far too overpriced when the valk is roughly the same size as the VF-1 but costs as much as the VF-0 or YF-19. At least with the Elintseeker there are the heavily customized accessories so the price is somewhat justifiable but I can't see it with the VF-11. Looks like I won't be collecting anything outside the VF-0, VF-1, and YF-19 lines.
  3. VF-1S Focker edition easily but that could easily change if Yamato ever decides to release Reaction Armor for the VF-0S.
  4. Damn I just caved and ordered.... Seriously though I honestly thought that I could stop at the original VF-1S seeing it was a gift from my girl friend and as how I never really cared for the other pilots or valks aside from maybe the YF-19/VF-19. Needless to say I was blown away by how amazing Yamato's valks were (and the fact that I lucked out with the Vf-1S's shoulders) but I thought that Macross Ultimate Frontier would have been enough to keep me from buying another valk. That worked until 2 weeks ago when I caved after seeing the mass produced VF-1A for sale at Angolz. I figured that the Elintseeker would be a great way to finish off a collection then the VF-0S goes on sale... If nothing else I know that this isn't going to get too out of hand. I've never been tempted by anything flown by anyone other than Roy, Isamu, and Ozma matter how low the price dropped so that narrows it down quite a bit. I know I'll probably end up owning an Elintseeker and the YF-19/VF-19 within a year or so but other than that I don't see any problems barring FAST packs, Ghost Boosters, Fold Boosters, etc.
  5. Great now I'm debating whether or not I want to risk ordering the VF-0S right now. I'm looking at HLJ right now and as much as I freaking love the VF-0S, I really don't want to risk wasting 150ish dollars. I royally lucked out with the stand alone DYRL VF-1S and thought that the only other valk I'd get this year would be the Elintseeker to go along with the mass produced VF-1A I just got. Is this the beginning of the downward spiral everyone was talking about?
  6. Out of curiosity, what are the other 2 valks in your top 3? Also, would you recommend the Elintseeker over the VF-11? I have an empty spot next to my VF-1S and mass produced VF-1A and I'm still undecided on what would look better.
  7. Mecha wise, I don't think so. Overall quality, Metal Gear Peace Walker is the only PSP game in the same league as MUF imo.
  8. That is certainly the case here with Xbox 360s. I personally know people who have gone through 3 and I've heard stories of people going through 7. Dropping $200+ for a faulty product is complete bull yet people don't complain nearly as much if they can get a replacement locally.
  9. My flightpose stand just came in last week and it works great for my VF-1S. I'm not sure how well it would hold the heavier valks but it can still hold up the VF-1 series with no problems.
  10. I don't think there is enough of a difference to warrant a TV version of Roy's VF-1S. If nothing else, it could be a version with guaranteed shoulder pins though I'd much rather Yamato come out with another mold or at least another accessory TBH. I'm personally hoping for Reactive Armor for the VF-0 or more destroids though I know both are unlikely.
  11. Wow these stands look pretty good, I'll probably try one out once HLJ ships out my VF-0S. While these stands look amazing for Fighter and Battroid mode, I'm probably in the minority when I say that I still prefer the Yamato stand for Gerwalk.
  12. I just put in an order for the VF-0S from HLJ so hopefully I'll get one shipped to me when they restock in April.
  13. I wonder if Yamato will ever come out with the Reaction Armor for the VF-0S.
  14. Thanks for the info on the Yamato version everyone, I'll just save my money and await to see how the Bandai one turns out before I decide. If this version doesn't deliver hopefully it will drive the price of the Yamato Konig down so maybe I can at least get a much cheaper Konig if nothing else. That said, does anyone know the chances of a repaint or is this pretty much going to be the only version we'll see?
  15. So given that the other 2 modes of the Yamato Konig are absolutely terrible, how bad do the arms sag down in Gerwalk mode? I found a great deal on an original Konig but was wondering if anyone here would honestly recommend it since I only want a giant Destroid. Are the arms salvageable in Gerwalk or do they sag down just as bad as in Battroid mode? Is Gerwalk mode at least bigger than a 1/60 VF-1 Battroid?
  16. Was the original Yamato Konig really THAT bad? I can understand any stability issues with Battroid mode but did Gerwalk mode hold up at all? I don't really care about the Shuttle or Battroid modes for the Konig in all honesty.
  17. It could be, I haven't been here long enough to see if this comes up often enough for people to dismiss it all together. Collecting valks isn't exactly a common hobby after all.
  18. It proves that there is enough of a demand for Destroids to justify their continued manufacture when their prices fluctuate as much as generic valks that are mostly just off color variations of hero valks. Yamato isn't going to get nearly as much mileage from the Destroid molds compared to the VF-1, YF-19, and YF-21 molds yet the fact that the Destroids haven't been discontinued yet shows that there is some profit to be had. Yamato operates on a much smaller scale than Takara or Bandai and they don't have nearly as many resources so they have to be very careful about which molds they invest in yet we saw Destroids before some of the other more in demand valks. I'm sure you don't care for the more generic mechs but there are enough people out there who buy them to make them profitable for Yamato.
  19. Not anymore than some of the other non hero valks.
  20. We do have Destroids so there is at least some demand for it.
  21. Hold up I thought the VF-0S figures have been fixed since the Ghost Booster release. It shouldn't a mine field anymore unless you get it from some random guy on ebay who could have some of the original floppy releases.
  22. I would agree if Roy's death and the destruction of the VF-1S was a more memorable scene in DYRL. Roy's death in the TV series really stood out to me, in DYRL his death seemed rather bland compared to how good the rest of the action scenes were. I'm aware of this yet I always wondered why he skips over it in DYRL. We see VF-1Js in DYRL but I don't think he ever pilots one. I'd be lying if I said I didn't start with Robotech but I also saw Zero before DYRL so that probably has a lot to do with it. Fair enough, I can't argue with that.
  23. The fact that they were destroyed is not the point. Those are the mecha that are typically used to represent the franchise as a whole. I mean iconic as in for the franchise in its entirety, when people think "Macross" the first mechs they see are typically either the Macross itself or Roy's VF-1S. Just like how the RX-78 is the most iconic mecha for the Gundam franchise or how G1 Optimus Prime is the most iconic character for Transformers, Roy's VF-1S is iconic for Macross. I never meant to imply that Roy's VF-1S was critical to the original story. Also regarding Frontier, that entire unit was constructed as a homage to the original Skull Squadron down to the pilots for each respective valk. While Alto and Michael have enough differences from Hikaru and Max to set them apart as different characters, Ozma hardly deviates from Roy at all. Well of course it doesn't make sense when you look at it that way. Rather than have Roy go out like another cliche ace pilot, I appreciate the fact that they gave him the luxury of dying around a loved one. Think about it, if you ask a dying soldier where he would want to be what do you think his response would be? Do you think he would want to go out with a big bang or see a loved one first? Considering that there was no reason for the VF-0S to resemble the VF-1S as closely as it did, I'd count it as a homage. Thank you, finally someone else sees it.
