  1. Maybe it's like the F-117, the stability of it during flight is handled by computer, while the pilot does the main piloting. If the computer goes down, it turns into a flying brick!
  2. A 1/48 VF-11 would be about the same size as the VF-1 in battroid, and just a few centimeters longer in fighter mode... I mean imagine a VF-11 with the amount of detail that the VF-1 got! A VF-11 with working airbreaks and flaps. The possibility for a smoother transformation since Yamato's gotten experience in producing valkyries since the original M+ valks were released. The "skeleton hands" on the VF-1 would look alright on the VF-11. Oh man, just thinking of all the things they could do with a 1/48 VF-11...
  3. It's Mink from Dragon Half. The main character. ADV releases it in the US. <_< Poor Mink! The DVD release sucks. Before Excel Saga, I thought it was the most off the wall crazy series around (two OVA episodes).
  4. Thanks for the link Exo! Exo's calculations on 1/60 scale YF-19 - 12.21 in or 31.01 cm YF-21 - 12.87 in or 32.69 cm VF-11 - 10.18 in or 25.86 cm My calculations on 1/48 scale YF-19 - 15.27 in or 38.79 cm YF-21 - 16.09 in or 40.88 cm VF-11 - 12.72 in or 32.31 cm Okay, the VF-11 would be practically the same size as the 1/48 VF-1, I want my VF-11 in 1/48 and not 1/60. Heheh, I could display them next to each other and have them be in scale! Okay, I know people scream in horror at the monstrous size that the YF-19 and 21 would be in 1/48, but the lenght difference would be something like 3-4 inches, but I don't see that as being thaaat much of a problem. Now, I'm not saying "skip 1/60s and go straight to 1/48s"! What I am saying is that they would not be so big that we could drive them around (maybe use them as short skateboards). They could be made in a limited way like the 1/60 Monster. If there are 1/60 versions released, then those who don't want the 1/48 will be sated of their hunger, and if there is a 1/48 version released afterwards, then us others will be sated of ours. Oh yeah, since I remember in the last MW Newsletter that Graham had mentioned possible candidates for future Valk release where the VF-4 and the VF-5000, here's the length of the VF-5000: actual size VF-5000 - 14.03 m actual VF-5000 - 29.23 cm 1/48 toy (smaller than the VF-1) *crosses fingers* Here's hoping for a 1/48 VF-4!
  5. Right, I got interested in finding out what the scale would be for different valks as toys at the 1/48 scale that some people are for, and others against. I've spent a bit of time going over the data at Macross Compendium, took the data provided and scaled them down to 1/48. You may use this for discussion (let's keep it clean and calm) and personal interest. My Formula was: valk size (length or wingspan or height)/.48 = x It is .48 to convert the meters into centimeters. I'm listing the VF-0, VF-1, VF-4, VF-11, YF-19 and YF/VF-21/22 with wingspans spread to their maximum Actual Size Fighter Mode: length wingspan height VF-0 18.69m no data no data VF-1 14,23 14,78 3,84 VF-4 14,92 14,28 3,72 VF-11 15,51 11,2 3,49 YF-19 18,62 14,87 3,94 YF/VF-21/22 19,62 15,36 4,04 Battroid Mode: Height VF-0 no data VF-1 12,68 VF-4 no data VF-11 12,92 YF-19 no data (VF-19F/S/Custom is 15.48 without the laser) YF/VF-21-22 no data Toy size (in cm) Fighter mode: length wingspan height VF-0 38.94 no data no data VF-1 29.65 30.79 8 VF-1 31 31 8 (hastily taken measurements of my 1/48 Max) VF-4 31.08 29.75 7.75 VF-11 32.31 23.33 7.27 YF-19 38.79 30.98 8.21 YF/VF-21/22 40.88 32 8.42 Battroid mode: Height VF-0 no data VF-1 26.42 VF-1 26 (hastily taken measurement of my 1/48 Max) VF-4 no data VF-11 26.92 YF-19 no data (VF-19F/S/custom would be 32.25) YF/VF-21/22 no data I did an excel sheet with these, plus some other valks (unfortunately most of them had no data). If you want, I could try to post it.

    Age Check! :)

20 here. That's a great idea to collect valkyries by your age! Then again, I want way more than 20!
  7. Ewilen, let us know where you post that essay when you do! It'll be good to read something on this subject without having to go through 38 pages of posts...
  8. Man, we're gonna start eating each other in gruesome anticipation! I'll wait for the 19FP too, but damn I'm getting anxious! I was hoping for it as a Christmans present!

    1/48 Line

The Low Viz is probably gonna be tough to get your hands on. And, if you do find it, it's gonna cost the eyes from your head! As for the other ones, I'll step back and let someone else answer, because I honestly don't know.
  10. Why would you want a cure? I know what you mean, I broke down and bought a Max 1/48 and then two Low Viz (MY PRECIOUS! YAH CAN'T HAVE IT!!!). Now, I'm a bit low on money and gotta save for a while, but when that 19FP comes out... I think about valks everyday, especially trying to figure out in my head the exact transformation sequence of some of the valks. I just can't completely figure out the VF-4, I have most of it down in my head, but can't figure out how some parts move here or there. The VF-5000 has me a bit stumped on one portion too, but oh well (yes, I have the Macross Design Works book). But, it doesn't interfere with daily work... Yet...
  11. I go with Bandai. -Rant (go ahead and skip this, I just gotta get it outta my system) In the past I would have hoped for ADV but they've gone down the tubes and whored themselves out to Harmony Gold. Their Rurouni Kenshin OVA release on DVD was a big-ass pile of crap; the English dub was butchered and for the "extra" information they gave was a bunch of made up crap (Shinsengumi fans you know what I'm talking about!). I really used to like ADV and admire them, they've released a lot of anime that I like and have done a good job in the past. But, their release of RK was Their release of Orphen sucked too, but I was never a fan of it. -End rant Yeah, Bandai's done alright on Cowboy Bebop, and Escaflowne the Movie was pretty good (although they worked with Viz). Yeah, Bandai's fine by me.
  12. As much as I'd like to get a 1/48 VF-0, people will start screaming that it's too big! Hell, the VF-0 is larger than the YF-19, and a bunch of people scream that a 1/48 M+ valk is monsterously big and impractical........... <_< I WANT ONE!
  13. C'est flame-bait. Quelque chose pue ici, et c'est la puanteur d'un troll.
  14. If it's just to have a 1/48 to play with, I'd recommend getting a VF-1A of whatever type and playing with that. Just take the time to make the right decision. I made the wrong one about seven years ago and opened up a Star Wars action figure from the original Return of the Jedi figures, and I've seen it going in the 100s... If you are certain you will enjoy it, open it up and love it everyday! Love it, don't LOVE it! Otherwise, get a 1/48 and customize it to look like a Low Viz or whatever!
  15. I'd recommend Valkyrie Exchange, I got a 1/48 from them and it arrived fine with nothing from our friends les douanes, no fees, everything arrived in great condition, and very quickly might I add. With HLJ, I know I had a bad experience once, when our friends les douanes butt-raped me on two packages I got from HLJ, two packages about 100€ per package, and had to pay about 80€ of fees for the both of them. And, with HLJ, I've been waiting for other items that I ordered when they were "in stock" when I put in my request (non-macross stuff), and I've been waiting for over a month and a half for items which should be relatively easy to get in stock. I'd bitch about the CMs Macross figures I tried to get from them, but that wasn't their fault, those things sold out faster than a blink of the eye!
  16. Happy Thanksgiving Macross World! "The day humans gave music to Zentraedi, and the Zentraedi got culture" Or "The day thumans gave Minmay to Zentraedi and... uh nevermind!"
  17. Damn, I was gonna mention that! I had a battery operated TM Desert Eagle, and it SUCKED HARD! If that M4 continues the tradition of the battery operated pistols, I wouldn't buy my kids a piece of crap like that (not that I have any yet). I spent a lot of my childhood playing wargames with toy guns. Okay, someone in my Psych class in Highschool said I looked like a serial killer and I was voted one of the top three students that was likely to go Columbine at school, but other than that nothing happened! Political correctness, the new anti-communism.
  18. Right, now where are those poll-happy people? That could sort that out. I want a Q-Rau, I want a 1/48 YF-19, I want my crap to be in the same scale, although I think I'll just get a 1/60 Q-rau... Oh screw it, if they make a 1/48 to be in scale with the VF-1 I'll see about it. I want a VF-19A maybe, but I don't like the Macross 7 19 variants. I do want a VF-22 though, I think they look cool. Oh yeah, sorry but.. VF-4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wants!!!
  19. I don't have any pics right now, but I suggest for a front view, that you check out the cover of Macross Digital Mission VFX, there's a front view of the VF-1 (as well as some of the other valks).
  20. I remember reading a while back that there's going to be an Escaflowne OVA series, it could be that. I don't remember when or where, so take it with a grain of salt guys! I do hope it's a Macross project though, not that I'd mind more Escaflowne.
  21. I push up from the underside of the valk when I'm going through the Gerwalk to Battroid transformation. I find that the easiest way to open the hatch. God, the first time I transformed my first 1/48 every crack I heard from the legs while transforming it had me shivering with fear! And I kept sweating thinking, "crap! Did I break it!?"
  22. Now that's what I'm talking about! Speaking of which, need to get a Q-Rau when it comes out!
  23. A 1/60 vf-1a costs approx $50 to about $70 A 1/48 vf-1a costs approx $120 to about $150. I dont know if you actually sat down and thought about it but that's more than double the price for a "few inches". Given the popularity of the yf 19 alone. The price would be even greater. So let's see... that's about $450 for three toys with a few measely inches added to them. WTF is this about?? You talk as if the concern for price is a non-issue. I dunno what money tree you're standing under but for many of us, it is an issue. Bypassing the 1/60 scale to accomodate rich, size-crazed asses like yourself, seems a bit illogical. And when 1/60 does well, (when it's made) which it will..., like you said..., "Yamato would eventually just make them in 1/48 anyways". SO.... Then technically, you shall get your 1/48... 1/48 ONLY people, you guys are a minority. Not that it's a bad thing... but when you start suggesting we skip the 1/60... then it becomes a bad thing.... Yeah, but also look at how much more complicated the 1/48 VF-1 is in comparison to the 1/60. There are so many parts to it! The Monster is gonna be big and expensive, I mean DAMN it's a monster in size and it's 1/60! With tthe size of that box you could house a couple bums in it in the street! I really don't mind if they make 1/60 valks, in fact I encourage it! Let those who want a smaller valkyrie have their smaller valkyrie. But, quit pissing on our parade because we want something big, that you're afraid will take away from the things you want to see made. If it costs our eyes from our head, and we still want it, then so be it! I don't see what the hell the big fuss is about if there are those who don't mind paying a butt-load of money! And what's with bringing in the insults now? Don't start degenerating this thread into a bunch of name calling, please! If they make a 1/60 scale good, if they don't and bypass it for a 1/48 then insult Yamato, but let's not let this degenerate into a flame war!
