  1. Dang, man. I just stripped the paint off my Hikaru 1A do to a Max repaint. The TV Max 1A is my favorite scheme out of the lot. What a drag that it'll be such a pain to get.
  2. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but it looks like they added a swivel for the forearm, yeah? Or just rotated the fixed position of the gauntlet. On the Stick/Ley models, you gauntlet "topper" (the missiles, etc) is always on the same side of the arm as the elbow. Here, it's to the outside, which looks much better. I'm sort of too lazy to dig for photo reference right now, but you guys know what I'm saying.
  3. Is this the first we've seen of the MH Blowsuperior's missile hatches open?
  4. $89.99? That sure seems high. I picked up a 2002 VF-1S at a Mandarake in Japan last year for about $30...
  5. You just need some pro photography now to show off all the details, that's all.
  6. Here's a few shots of my original, not reissue.. It does require glue/putty/paint/etc. I did this one several years ago before I levelled up my modeling skills. I have another kit sitting in the closet that I'll take a crack at if I ever find the time. It is fiddly and tends to have bits that like to jump off it. It's also a really nice representation of the ride armor, and has some nice features and proportions that I wish the new CMs/Megahouse toys had. So have kind of a love/hate thing with mine. I think of putting mine up for sale every now and again.
  7. Has anybody done this yet? I'd like a tighter waist on mine. Can one just pop the torso off the hips without doing any damage?
  8. Got my MH in the mail today from HLJ. I really wanted to like these guys, but I have to admit I'm sort of "meh" on them. They were smaller than I was expecting, so the CMs must be really small. I know that there's a whole lot of anime magic going on with these, so I don't mind shuffling bits around, but I really don't like yanking off the front forks. The visor is really floppy on both of mine as well. I think I would have been fine with it fixed closed, since we have the non-helmet head. I snapped a couple of quick photos with my (poorly constructed) IMAI kit for comparison: Notice on the IMAI model how the front forks attach to the gauntlets in armor mode. I think it's not a bad solution. The MH seems to stand up okay without the stand, as long as you pull the feet forward like the instructions show. I have him leaning a little further forward than he probably needs to in the photos. I also like how there's some articulation on the shoulder guards in armor mode. I'm a little confused by the stand. I understand the piece that plugs into the crotch for a flight pose... what's the other piece for?
  9. So I notice that Volume 2 is also up for preorder, though with no photo. Anybody know what color it's going to be? I suppose the educated guess would be red, to match the volume 2 alpha...
  10. I'm also gonna come down on the "don't mess with this one" side.
  11. I got my shipping notice. Now I only have to wait 7 - 45 days.
  12. So what's the scoop on shipping? Anybody who preordered get a shipping notice yet?
  13. I'm sold on the Megahouse. Though I keep looking at those headlights... it looks like little LEDs in there, even though I know they're not. I keep expecting to see a photo with them lit up.
  14. I agree with all of winterdyne's input. You will be much happier if you get the right equipment now. A good airbrush will last you forever (I've used the same one for about 15 years now). I was a cheapskate and only had a couple of paint jars up until last year. I finally spent a few dollars and got six or seven more, and now I wonder how I ever got by without them. I also use Tamiya acrylics pretty much exclusively when I'm airbrushing a model. They're good quality, have a nice range of colors, clean up easily, etc. I used rubbing alcohol for awhile but once I tried Tamiya thinner I never use anything else. So many problems in airbrushing come down to the paint mix, it's worth it to use the stuff that works best. A straight 50-50 mix usually does the trick for me.
  15. Looks like it was the CMs sent by mistake. So still no MH on the way yet...
  16. That first link looks like a set of Badger brushes, but without it actually saying Badger, I'd get more info before bidding. If they are Badger, that's a good price for all that. The moisture trap on that last one is on the air hose. You can probably reverse the hose so the trap is next to the compressor. Or get a different hose.
  17. There's a second page showing them combined. Click the link on the bottom of the first.
  18. I have to say, I'm not too mad at the CMs, now that I see the pictures. I like the poseability and proportions on the rider. The thing I actually like the least is the feet. That bit around the ankles turns me off.
  19. I sure would like to see more finished photos of the CMs. Like others have said, CMs toys are often of amazing quality. With regard to the screw holes, CMs has previously included little plugs to cover those up; I would expect that on these as well. And who knows with Toynami? They did do a bang-up job on Voltron... The thing that freaks me out the most is popping off the rider's head for the transformation. It's probably unavoidable if you want the armor to fit well, but it still creeps me out.
  20. I really like the hands on this guy. The hands were the weakest part of the 1/48, in my opinion.
  21. Jeez, I don't think I've ever seen so much topic activity in a single day. My only comment is thank goodness that they appear to be starting with the VF-1S, instead of making us sit through the traditional first release of the VF-1A DYRL again.
  22. I'm with the other fans. Max TV 1A is my favorite color scheme. I'd buy one in a second. I haven't made a custom because I have the fear that Yamato will put one out the second the paint dries on mine.
  23. Can't say I'm a fan of these paint schemes. I'd much rather see one of the yet-unreleased TV models.
