  1. Props to melbin234 & Frogze, Awesome collections and use of display stands, especially Frogze with so many Valks in such a small space!! B))

It's impressive however all I can think is if somebody trips there's going to be an awful lot of broken Valks in one place!

  2. I was under the impression that the nacelles retracted into the wing and the wing tips then folded in. The battroid does not show this at all.

Maybe these things aren't quite transformed right for the pics and they're only here for a general idea? Like if they weren't completely finished maybe some of the transforming mechanisms don't exist yet? Super wishful thinking?

  3. That's a lot of gerwalk-mode kibble. Its like they didn't even try to thing of a way to collapse the wing/tail section in Gerwalk. At least on the YF-21/VF-22S the rear section slides forward. The VF-1 the tail section folds and flips over. The VF-25 was bad in this department, the 29...now Kawamori is just getting lazy. This is transformers-esque.

I don't know if I'd call it Transformers-esque but I can say that after seeing this toy in Gerwalk I'm not interested in it anymore. Though to be fair all of the Mac F Valks have a bit of the big-ass syndrome, this is pretty ridiculous looking though.

  4. Hi all SDF-1 guys! I think I am the unlucky one who ordered one and still have not received it. I ordered it by Jan 21st from HKCollectibles.com. They shipped it quick but somehow the stupid thing landed in NYC (I am in SoCal!) I knew something was wrong but friend of mine from USPS said it could happen... so I waited and waited and today, I couldn't take it and called USPS tracking service, they said the item is stuck in NYC because it did not enter custom and this is something needs to be done from HK's side. Gosh.... I am confused... the item is here, but they need people from HK to tell them what to do with it? WTF?

Has anyone got into similar situation like this and how did you resolve it?

    Thanks! Bros!

    PM will be appreciated!!!

I've never heard of that but I don't do anything related to the US Postal Service. They're incompetent at best. I do everything UPS or Fed Ex, even if it costs me more, because I've never had major problems that haven't been quickly fixed after an angry phone call.

  5. OK, not a big update, but since I'm still waiting on more tools, I'm working on the little details and accessories. Here is the handgun that the Platypus will carry. Basically, it's the GU-11 handle (used so that it'll connect in fighter mode), attached to styrene 3/8" styrene tube wrapped over 3 times. I did that so that I could taper the tube, and so far, it's coming along nicely. Just need to put a round cap on the back of it, and the inside barrel, and it's all done. It'll be another accessory I'll end up recasting for a set later, or if I do another one of these, as I might do if someone wants one of these. Today, I'll be working on finishing this if possible, and adding the other small tanks and build up pieces on the Valk itself.

Having a few VF pistols around would be pretty cool actually.

  6. I finally got my copy in the mail today, along with the first VF-1 book and the VF-19 book. I've seen some of the pics in other posts and on the web but I'm honestly disappointed with the quality of all of them. I realize they're renders being put over real world pics and need to fit in but it looks like all of the pictures were "taken" in a haze on a cloudy day. You can't even make out a lot of the details because they're too dark/blurry. I particularly like the VF-19 pic of the fleet with fast packs hovering over the carrier around what looks like earth... or I would, if it weren't so fartING dark. I understand space is actually dark but pretend like you took the photo while they were all facing a light source so we can see more detail. Plus, hardly any Gerwalk/Battroid. The concept for these books is cool however I feel they're lacking in execution. Actually, they should hire our own danbickell or tipatat because their homegrown models of the VF-1's are better than in these books.

  7. And a set of bigger feet for anime accurate Battroid!! lol

Considering the picture of the toy is taken from a higher angle and the legs are turned back there's no real way to make a fair comparison about the size of the feet in the drawing you posted versus how the toy looks. From that vantage more of the foot is obscured, therefore it will look smaller... and what's the the foot fetish on this board anyway?

  8. I used to like the 171 more than the 17 but the more I look at the two side-by-side the more I'm digging the chunkiness of the 17, especially the Battroid. The Gerwalk is especially weak on both modes (imo) which is usually my favorite mode, so there's no tie breaker there for me. The Fighter mode of the 17 also more closely resembles a real-world fighter which is also a plus to me personally.

  9. Is it really that unreasonable for the 1/60 monster to be released? Considering the success of the 1/2000 SDF, another risky creation, seems like they may be able to justify producing the fabled coffee-table-sized toy after all. Unfortunately, this will undoubtedly have it priced similarly to the 1/2000.... But hey, at least it'll be cool to look at :D (Maybe we'll get a 1/60 version after too ^^)

Yeah, the SDF-1 sold well. Go figure, make a rock solid product and fans will buy it... the Monster would be no different and it's my favorite Destroid.

  10. Apparently, they took this painted prototype over to BigWest, who promptly said "That's not the colour, change it!" Even though Yamato had matched it to what appears onscreen in the show. Then they showed Kawamori, who said "Yeah, that's the colour in the SHOW... buuuuuut it's not the REAL colour, sorry!" So now Yamato is at a loss and has resorted to just displaying samples and asking for opinions from people like us.

So, they bitched it wasn't the right color but didn't give Yamato an idea what it actually was? That's... the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I don't like what you have but I'm not going to tell you what I like!

  11. I never got into the Macross 7 storyline, nor am I a fan of this color scheme, but I do like the design. It would be nice if Yamato entertained a "no paint" or low-vis" approach to this design somewhere down the line. I think they'd sway more of the "on the fence" customers.

Yup, as it stands with this color I will not be buying one of these. Red and Yellow are two colors I dislike the most, combining them does nothing for this Valk for me. I'd love to support the work but I don't want to own this color scheme at all.

  12. Damn, it's amazing how fast/efficient Fed Ex can be. Packing slip says it shipped the 19th. I just got it here, today, in Albuquerque, NM. Three days from across the world!

Now if only my 22 Max's ankles were more sturdy this Gerwalk mode would stay put...
