  1. Not that it's a fantastic Gerwalk mode to begin with but I don't remember those giant gaps in it's back when in G mode. Fighter mode looks okay if a little... gappy. Battroid is sufficiently slimmed down just like in the show.

  2. Got it. That was fast. Love AmiAmi!

My first 1/60 v2. First impressions are pretty cool. I definitely see the improvements to the 1/48 lineage. That backpack scares me almost as much as BP8... is it supposed to require force to get past that detent?

Am I transforming it wrong, or does the square piece that goes around the shoulder joints not lock to the chest plate like the v1 1/60 did? After 1 transformation, I think the black on the shoulders looks like it could be chip city coming up, huh? Love the detail in the feet and the pilot is awesome. Love TV Roy!

No it doesn't lock to the chest plate. It gives the arms more play/pose-ability with the moving plate.

  3. Out of curiosity, what are the other 2 valks in your top 3?

Also, would you recommend the Elintseeker over the VF-11? I have an empty spot next to my VF-1S and mass produced VF-1A and I'm still undecided on what would look better.

That's a tough call, I love both my Elintseeker and the two VF-11C's I own.

  4. I must be in the minority here. I do love the 11B, but the 11C just looks so much more...bad ass. Of course, if you don't look at the pilot. Ha ha! ;)

I think the 11C looks much better than the 11B as well. Pink head stripe and all. We're all in agreement the pilot looks like some horrible blob however.

  5. All issues I have with the appearance aside though... I know it's an older design, but there are just so many dumb engineering mistakes in the way it was made... I mean, comparing it to the YF-21 in terms of engineering is like comparing the DX VF-25 against the VF-27. There's such a leap in quality between them, you wonder if they were even made by the same company.

You know, engineering is an iterative process. We would all like to get things working great the first time but more often than not it's a case of try, try again.

  6. As a bit of a downer, when I talked with Yamato about the armor sveral months ago, they did admit when they designed the VF-11 toy, they didn't take the armor into consideration, unlike the V2 1/60 VF-1, which was designed from the ground up for the GBP Armor. This is not to say that the armor couldn't be made to fit the toy, just that it might be abit more difficult.

As it stands now it shouldn't be too difficult to make something that works for the existing toy. Likely they'd have to release a special version with the little wing flaps on the front of the legs that fold down just like on the VF-1's. Otherwise, there are small places along the legs where the leg armor could snap in to and the backpack thrusters easily fit into the existing spot where the fast packs already plug in. Looking at the lineart it doesn't look like it would be as difficult to do on an existing VF-11.

  7. I'm still waiting for either a VFX-2 or Milia scheme. The current offerings are very boring. (and I'm sick of the M+ scheme by now regardless)

I would totally rock a VFX-11 with the blue color scheme. While not radically different from a standard VF-11C I'd go for a Raven's scheme as well. The added stripes and different colored nose cone make for a nice contrast. I suppose if I took the time to learn to paint toys I could easily get another 11C and modify accordingly I suppose.

  8. Would any of you accept a cheaper plastic kit release?

I'm talking about a Gunpla-ish pre-colored snap-fit plastic kit. Detailing to be done by you with stickers or decals. Still at 1/60 scale but without many of the gimmicks (thus making it easier to build). And let's say priced around US$80? Kinda like the recent 1/48 Gundam kit.

Maybe, if it had decent poseable/bendable knees I'd get one to pose next to my other 1/60's. At $400 and no modeling skills this other kit is out of my price range. I'm not upset like some others, just can't get/use it.

  9. It could possibly because it's still prototype but look at the back of the legs in those two semi-side shots. There are huge gaps carved into the back of the thing No doubt so the legs will fold up further when in Fighter mode so they don't hang so far down and to provide room for the larger shoulders to fit better. Not a big surprise considering how the Hi-Metal Kai and 19S have missing parts on the back but look how deep some of thsoe grooves go, halfway through the calf.

  10. I have 4 of these now...1 heavy missile, and 3 normal, dirtied them up a little bit, and they look pretty darn good (real darn good for the price) next to all my 1:60 ver 2's. I think the Toynami idiots might be onto something with these...I am hoping for many other varients and the Glaug maybe down the line??? Also, us Mospeada guys could only PRAY for some Invid figs.... I'm cool with the scale, as true 1:60 would be damned hard to display because of the sheer height. Anybody know when and if they are gonna release the next missile variant???

I do believe a representative from Toynami posted on these forums asking what else we would like to see and the majority voted for some Mospeada Figures.

  11. Is it possible the hips are just too stiff for you? I don't recall articulation being much of an issue with the Kai... if I weren't at work I'd go to anymoon.com and watch my youtube review to see if I could identify the issue.

Oh that was a shameless bit of pluggery right there wasn't it :)

It's possible. I don't want to break it. There's pretty much no hip articulation inwards or outwards on mine. Though, that won't help the crappy Gerwalk mode much.

  12. I disagree, I find it very poseable in battroid mode, even more so if you pose it using the display stand. You can achieve some very dynamic poses.

Heh, and I like mine so much I'm planning on picking up a 3rd one tonight.

    Graham

The only reason it's poseable is because of that stand. The lack of movement in the hips limits it, which is why it pretty much can't be posed in Gerwalk.

  13. I finally got my 19S yesterday. Now I know why there wasn't much effort put into Gerwalk, it's not terribly poseable and the wings tend to be a floppy mess. Actually, I regret getting this thing. It's fighter mode still has all of the issues of 1/60 Yammie, the Gerwalk actually looks worse and isn't as poseable as the 1/60, and despite not being as floppy and the chest holds together better than the 1/60 Yammie it really isn't as poseable in Battroid either. I like the use of the metal joints for portions of it but it's just not as dynamic in motion as the VF-1 was in battroid.

  14. I'm one of those that applies the stickers, but I try to trim them right to the edge to minimize the sticker look.

Since there were no Hasegawa models for the VF-11, I just went by marking conventions used by the YF-19 and VF-1.

For the fighter itself, I have "No Step" markings on the wings and canards as shown in the pics, "Danger" above the secondary intakes and overflow outlets and above and below the maneuvering thrusters below the cockpit. "No Step" on the edge of the air brakes, the trailing edge of the shield. I've included a pic of the 11C which I've marked identically (except for the "Rescue" marking which I opted not to apply on the 11C), but should be easier to see against the white. You can see where I've put the other stickers as well.

For the FAST packs, I went to the VF-1's for some inspiration.

I really love what you did with that 11C
