  1. The size of the engines shouldn't matter really as long as they're stabilized and structurally sound. Pretty much anything of any shape will "fly" with enough thrust, that doesn't mean it can be controlled. The Super Packs on the VF-1 don't have any additional stabilizers on the outside. The VF-11 also can't operate it's Super Packs in atmosphere. The 17 is the first Valk to have Super Packs that operate in and out of atmosphere.
  2. The only reason why I question that decision is because the packs were designed to work in and out of atmosphere. It seems odd to design them so that you either launch in space and then have to jettison them in atmosphere but you can't do the opposite direction from atmosphere to space. Not that any of this is real... or matters.
  3. I suppose I've always just assumed the ends would close up, like any other intake on the other Valks, and fuel/would be fed in via additional storage within the wing additions.
  4. I'm referring to the long grey things attached to the swiveling engines at the ends of the wings.
  5. I still don't understand the silly fingers on the ends of the wing boosters.
  6. I don't own the SV-51 or the 27 so I can't comment on either of those.
  7. That's not true. The VF-0/1/11 are the only three that are just alright. The 4/17/25+ all are very poseable in Gerwalk. The 19 is limited by it's arms (and the terrible ankles on the newer versions) and the 21/22 are limited by the chicken legs and knee ratchet strength (otherwise I'd say it's alright.)
  8. Looks like my SDF-1 book is scheduled to be here by Friday. Anybody already received theirs? Just an FYI to anybody looking to check out a few pics before the book arrives. Otaku.com has a few preview pics from inside available. That third pic, with Max's 1J in space, is an interesting idea but.... it looks REALLY dumb. http://otaku.com/products/38552
  9. Well, apparently until the end of the episode Daryl wasn't super fond of rich people and to him she was a spoiled rich girl so likely he wasn't interested in it with her at all.
  10. All of the other packs are glossy like the toys are. These are painted prototypes.
  11. I'll take the first two. Don't want the Vajra though. I don't even necessarily want transformable one's. I'll take an Uruga or Northampton as well. Though a Battle 7 would be cool I'm honestly not fond of the Attack mode look. The carrier mode looks really good though.
  12. Daryl does flat out say he didn't need a drinking game to get laid. He knew what she was going for and shut her down.
  13. You have to wonder why they didn't try to come up with some sort of locking mechanism for the wings this time. It's not like they didn't know about the additional weight from all of these various parts the second time around for this line.
  14. Oh, that's right, Ozma is a general release this time...
  15. For all of the half-assed attempts at everything HG has ever done the artwork and coloring are actually pretty impressive in those few panels.
  16. I was hoping they'd have the Ozma on display at the Akiba showroom as well...
  17. Thanks for the pics! I think Michael's looks superior in Battroid mode. Talk about back heavy though....
  18. The hinges on all of the flaps on the VF-4 have been holding up quite well if that's any indication.
  19. I just got my shipping notice for SDF-1. Supposedly the 22 book was listed for March as well. I find that hard to believe. Seems like they would space them out a bit more than that.

    YF-21 WIP

I'm voting for number five. Subtle is key.
  21. You've not compared the pictures have you? The 0D and 30 look nothing alike. The 24 and 30 are extremely similar even if the transformation mechanisms have been modified. Enough people on here alone have confused the 30 for being a part of Frontier or for being another extension of the 25, because they look that similar. Nobody is confusing the 0D for any of these other fighters. For those of you hoping for another Quarter, I hope you get your wish. We need more capitol ships. For myself, however, I cannot abide that "cruiser" mode.
  22. Here's something of line art for the YF-24. A few cosmetic changes and it becomes the YF-30 really. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.macross2.net%2Fm3%2Fmacrossf%2Fyf-24.htm&tbnid=TJNjOn7uV7oH_M:&docid=1lN73CgBYOjkZM&h=689&w=1000
  23. I would love to see an RVF-171 still but Bandai already seems happy doing various Mac30 repaints for the 29, and supposedly the 30 is still on it's way as well. Who wants to take bets we'll be seeing a Leon paint scheme sometime soon as well? As regards the YF-24, have you compared the top-down silhouettes of the 24 with the 30?
  24. As much as I'd like some more VF-4 variants the equivalency still isn't the same, really.
  25. Minus the ankles, wouldn't all of those things have to be new anyway? I don't really see why they wouldn't revise everything anyway, otherwise you would have parts that seemed really antiquated engineering-wise along side parts that seem modern. It would be like the VF-27 re-release only much older and worse.
