I had the fortune of seeing the Snowbirds perform at the old Namaio airshows in Alberta a few years back. They were very impressive. The show they put on didn't disappoint. Cool picks!

First Private Rocket into Space!
Mr March replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Great news! The more private explorations into space the better. We'll get there faster and it will encourage competition again. -
I certainly want to see this film, but I understand if it's not a great film like the hype has tried to sell. I do like Wolfgang Peterson's films, but I admit, he's no Ridley Scott. Still, I'm in the mood to go to a film. I haven't been to the theatre in a long while and I'd love to watch a good film, even if it falls flat a few times.

Cool. I'm going out to do a bit of shopping tomorrow after work. I'll make a point to stop by one of the nearest Chapters and check them out. Thanks BSU

Hell yeah. The propaganda as an imperial pilot was the most fun. Damn I loved that game. If they remade TIE Fighter with a modern game engine, I'd go nuts

No offense, but in my books, eBay is typically a place of last resort. If I can get it somewhere else, even at a higher cost, I'd rather do so. At any rate, thanks for letting me know.

Yeah, the artists working on the Star Wars films (like McQuarrrie and Chiang) have always produced work that really appeals to me. The designs often have a classic 50's-style motif, with lots of colors and big, bold features. I wouldn't mind checking out some of the art books you mentioned.

Does anyone else feel like Minmay got kinda....
Mr March replied to Max Jenius's topic in Movies and TV Series
Minmay is the typical, immature "popular girl" from high school. She has mostly survived/and or flourished off her looks. When that fails, Minmay finds herself extremely depressed, alone, and living in a van down by the river Ahem, anyway my point is that her character was more an archetype and as such held true to what she was. She was ment to be tragic in a way since her character arc ended with the receiving a dose of reality in the form of a good slap and being forced to grow up. We don't really know much after that because it's not all that important to the story. No doubt she moved onward in her career, married her manager, and ended up in rehab along side Whitney Houstan -
Very interesting. I didn't realize we had the capability to produve a high powered laser to actually mount on a small military vehicle. I wonder how they power the thing to do enough damage to an armored vehicle.

That was a very good video. It's funny watching George's selection process for characters and aliens. I recall reading how he did it in some of the first to third generation Star Wars fan magazines years ago and then again in the special features on Episode One. He just really goes by ear and gazes at what he thinks most accurately represents the idea he wrote for the story. Always considering the pros and cons of each artistic creation he sees. Thanks for the vid BSU!

Wow! That is some amazing work. I really like the shade of green you chose for this custom. It works very well. Nice job with the face plate.

Whoa! Where did you get that wall scroll and can you still get them? I want one!

Cool stuff! I doubt very much Shin dies in this episode. There are pictures of Shin and Sara sitting around in the swamp. Looks like they're waiting for a recovery team. Episode three ends with Nora right on top of Shin. If he was going to get wasted, it would be there. That's what I think anyway.

Great stuff! Anakin looks really haunted. You can see the dark side just in his clothes. That fighter he's in sure looks interesting. The more I see of Grevious, the more I like the character and he already looked fantastic the first time I saw the picture. Though I must admit, this is the first time I've ever heard he had four arms. Must be due to the fact I'm avoiding most of the spoilers. But I like it. Sometmes it pays to stay out of the loop. I like the general progression of all the little things in the prequel trilogy linking it to the original films. The hair styles, Ben's look, the Clone Troopers turning into Storm Troopers, et cetera. It really helps mesh the two trilogies into one grand saga, especially because the first prequel looked like such a different film than the original trilogy.

Definitely Jim Lee. I've been a fan ever since his work on Punisher War Journal, and then on to X-Men and Wild C.A.T.s. I love his style. Somehow Lee manages to capture the internal detail well, yet he has a great eye for simplifying the frame of an object and providing a very simple silhouette. Just looking at the first picture of ole Sups in this thread, you can see how the art work blends into a beautiful merge of detail and edge as it approaches the outer edge of the character. Always loved that.

I would love to play X-COM again. I played the hell out of that game back when it was first released. I was so hooked that I used to play the Demo disk from Computer Gaming World magazine over and over and over beforethe game was released. Some of those screens look new though. I have never seen the one with that soldier photo in the background. Looks great though!

Please tell me someone has a 1280x1024 or larger version of this picture

It's about time! My friend from Manchester has been telling me about this Predator Special Edition ever since he moved to Canada about a year ago. I guess I shouldn't be so mad, I mean with North America being the only place to get Criterion DVDs...but it just makes me angry when a solid selling item like Predator get's a lackluster NA release compared to the rest of the globe. But enough gripping, I'm getting one of these

It's unclear how the Cyclops functions. It is stated that the system is more advanced than conventional tech and it utilizes Cross-Dimensional Overtechnology. Based on the circumstances in the series, the Cyclops can detect objects within conditions that negate conventional radar. For example, the Cyclops can detect underwater, a medium that nullifies normal radar.

Uh, I hate to point this out Final Vegeta, but this is not about Gundam; we're talking Macross science fiction here. Indeed some of the earlier posts talked about the influences and homages of each show to one another, but the technology discussion we were having was about the dynamics of the Macross fiction....not Gundam. Whether Cyclops Cross-Dimensional Radar can detect mecha within a Minovsky particle field is a debate for a versus thread...and threads of that type are often locked on MacrossWorld faster than you can say "fanboy" As for the rest, my whole point was to introduce the most plausible (and definitely the simplest) reason for Valkyries detection capabilities and the dynamics of the Cyclops. And to question these silly fractions and obscure connections between Macross and Gundam mecha. I think I'm beginning to see why these vague "facts" even came up in the first place and that they are anything but official. Needless to say, I'm glad you show interest in both Gundam and Macross. However nothing has been provided in this discussion to prove any "connections" of a Valkyire being two thirds of a Gundam this and two thirds a Gundam that. Nor has any more plausible reason been provided why the SV-51 Active Stealth was defeated by the VF-0 radar. At the very least, the Cyclops theory uses continuity within Macross Zero OVA and provides a plausible explanation. On the other hand, stating the VF-0 uses the same radar technology as an F-14 is not only untrue just from looking at the visuals in Macross Zero (Roy's tracking system and HUD defy any similarity to an F-14 system) but doesn't make sense since the VF-0 could track the SV-51 and the F-14 could not.

I couldn't agree more. Just like FCS = Fire Control System. It's not a specific designation but rather a term for the equipment.

I love William Hung's Calgary Flames tune "The Flames, the Flames, oh baby!"

Out of sheer luck, I've found out the ultimate evidence: The Truth There is some katakanas, but I am sure at least you can read the letters in the F-14 box: AN/AWG-9 radar FCS Shin's F-14 had the same radar of the VF-0, just less advanced. Mr March, I've won this fight FV Exactly, the VF-0 use a more advanced radar system, a cyclops enhanced fire control system. It certainly isn't declared non-cyclops. Remember, the humans of the Macross universe apply OverTechnology to current human understanding. Thus, they will build improved versions of exisiting technology with much great ability than convetional tech. The fact that the VF-0 detected the SV-51 and the F-14 could not, totally invalidates any arguement that the two radar suites are simply the same technology. Also, on another point I want to clarify, I did not say the cyclops is designed to detect Valkyries...period. The cyclops is the next step for UN Spacy detection technology and it makes total sense for the VF-0, the Macross, and their personnel to be using them.
