You're just being cheeky because you don't understand that defense

Hey, it's funny because it's true. If you really looked at all the phallic symbols in Macross, from the VF-1 to the Zentradi ships, there's hundreds. Freud would love Macross I'd go six bays symmetrical since that picture doesn't show all that much and is somewhat obscured. Besides, it's not like anyone can complain, you're pretty much the only show in the whole world for CG zentradi ships

Hey, great catch on the Max and Milia variants! I'll make a note and correct those six pictures; twelve including the thumbnails I guess The navigation lights for the VF-1J line art are all black. I can't color them unless I alter the line art itself, which I don't really like doing if it can be avoided. I'll have to leave those as drawn by Kawamori. Thanks for the help. Keep your eyes peeled for any other corrections and send me notice.

Do you mean a small little 80x80 picture instead of the written "VF-1A Valkyrie" link in the main menus? Or something else?

Fantastic work MasterOfPuppets. That's one of the best 1/48 shots I've ever seen. Excellent use of articulation with good angles and good lighting. This helps to show what the 1/48 can do for posability. I love it!

Hey now, don't be dissing the phallic nature of the Zentradi ships. That's why Macross is so damn cool, it's one big phallic homage! Real men watch Macross! LOL Just be thankful you're not doing the Nupetiet-Vergnitzs command ship. That one's even got a urethra

I almost resent that! Luckily, my agenda ensures I will never fall into the category of reasonable

There's no one else to blame, so it might as well be you

No, it was made way back in 1987. Flashback 2012 was a collection of story elements made for SDF Macross that couldn't fit into the series length AND some animation meant to be included in the DYRL? film, but never made it due to budget/time constraints. So they made a little video presentation in order to get that stuff out to the fans.
-
A solid 4/5, but much like DYRL?, Flashback 2012 is a film for the fans. It's not really a stand alone picture and works best as a complement for the Macross universe. Which is just fine by me because it really helps embelish and enrich the whole franchise. It's a great send off for the original series and the characters. The mecha designs are fairly unique and I especially enjoyed Hikaru's spacesuit-esque flight suit as well as Misa's captain uniform. These updated character designs in Flashback 2012 added a sense of realism to the stylised universe, yet remained inescapably "Macross." As a visual work it was great and the small story it told was amazing considering the lack of dialogue. A great video montage with really good music. Too bad it wasn't a full blown movie or OVA

If I can eventually purchase some art books, I would certainly include Escaflowne (epecially since I really like that series). I'd also like to have a Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam, an EVA from Neon Genesis Evangelion and Kaneda's Bike from Akira, but I don't have any line art of those myself. For now, I have to rely on fans willing to submit scans in a sufficient format and resolution if it were to make it on the M3.

Remastered Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada DVDs
Mr March replied to Lynx7725's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If that's the Animeigo set for SDF Macross, then you can't go wrong. It's an excellent bargain for top quality video and sound, as well as probably the best subtitling work I've ever seen in an anime. -
It was close. Minmay being slapped is almost enough to make any Macross production take the crown. I swear, I lept up and cheered the first time I watched DYRL? Damn, that backhand was a long time coming
-
Glad you're all enjoying it. Anyone care to comment on the "Icons of Mecha" pages. I was curious how many fans like the section (or dislike it).

I choose SDF Macross, though only just. DYRL? is great, but in different ways. The story of SDF Macross I prefer better, but so much of DYRL? takes the aspects of SDF Macross and improves them. If DYRL? felt more like a feature film rather than a 2 hour recap made just for fans, I'd choose DYRL? no contest. As it is, I love SDF Macross better as a coherent whole.

MAJOR UPDATE The Macross Mecha Manual is back with a bang. Today features a major update with 48 new profiles. Free from the demands of the VF-1 and all the numerous VF-1 variants, I'm now able to fill out some of the other sections. The focus of this update is Capital Ships and Vehicles though naturally new mecha have been added as well. You'll also find a few older profiles have been updated and visitors who suggested changes will notice some of their ideas implemented. I'd like to thank all the visitors for their feedback and especially say thanks for all your positive comments. This update also features the debut of two new Macross sections, Macross Zero and Macross Plus. Also, a special Features section has been added and some minor corrections/revisions have been made to the entire website. The jewel of the update: the SV-51 from Macross Zero, featured in three different color schemes and one variant. Here is a list of all the new Macross mecha added in this update: ***SDF Macross Section*** MBR-04 Destroid Defender Mk X HWR-00 Destroid Monster Mk II SDR-04 Destroid Phalanx Mk XII MBR-07 Destroid Spartan Mk II Oberth Class Destroyer LVT Avenger II Comanchero F203 Dragon II EC-33B Disk Sensor QF-3000E Ghost SF-3A Lancer II SC-27 Star Goose VC-33 Mom's Kitchen VC-27 Tunny Glaug Glaug Booster **Updated** Nousjadeul-Ger Fulbtzs-Berrentzs Class Fleet Flagship **Updated** Nupetiet-Vergnitzs Class Fleet Command Battleship Thurvel-Salan Class Battleship Queadol-Magdomilla Class Fleet Command Battleship Quiltra-Queleual Class Landing Ship Tank Picket Patrol Ship Quel-Quallie Theatre Scout Factory Satellite Gnerl MiM-31 Karyovin Fan Liner Fan Racer Fokker D.VII LH-2000 Supervision Army Derelict ***DYRL Section*** **Updated** VF-1A Super Valkyrie **Updated** VF-1A Super Hikaru Valkyrie ARMD Class Carrier (Film) Nupetiet-Vergnitzs Class Fleet Command Battleship Golg Gant Charts Meltran Flagship Meltran LST Meltran Battleship Meltran Destroyer Meltran Cruiser Meltran Gunboat Meltran Picket ***Macross Zero Section*** SV-51 Variant SV-51 "Nora" Variant SV-51 "Ivanov" SV-51 "Booster" ***Macross Plus Section*** X-9 Ghost Zentradi Battle Suit Sports Car (2040) Sport-Tour Motorcycle (2040) Stellar Whale Passenger Liner Enjoy!

Fantastic work! The detail is superb. It's amazing how much the model looks like the actual special effects, no doubt due to the manner in which you painted the fighter. Do the variable aft wings turn outward for atmosphere mode just like in the show? Thanks for sharing. Very nicely done.
-
That is a very nice model for a game. Wow! How many polys is that? The aft view looks amazing, the angle looks just like a similar picture in Tenjin Hidetaka's work for those model box covers. Thanks for posting!
-
LOL, I suppose it has been a good number of years since Join The Empire Spitoni's excellent Star Destroyer model was about 200,000 polys I think. I haven't downloaded CG fan videos in years, so I guess I'm behind the times. Writing about those vids now has got me thinking, maybe I should search for some of those on google and watch them. Perhaps one or two of those eternal works-in-progress CG vids might actually be completed by now I doubt anyone is going to build a Zentradi ship as good as yours. The popularity of Macross does not draw the kind of fan modellers like the other big sci-fi franchises such as Star Wars. I have a strong feeling your work is going to be unique for a long time.

Don't be so quick to dismiss American audiences (or us Canadians for that matter). Shaun of the Dead did respectable business here in North America and as a Canuck, I thought it was definitely worth seeing. I suppose it's also worthy of note that I love "Spaced" I must say, I am dying for a comedy like Hot Fuzz. The trailers are brilliant. Simon Pegg is so funny.

Enemy Battlesuit/Renegade Power Armor/Whatever...
Mr March replied to Mr March's topic in Movies and TV Series
With the exception of you know who, everyone in this thread is enjoying themselves. Don't confuse debate for arguement. Nied's posts have been invaluable and we've been corresponding via PM on revisions to my EB profile for the M3. This debate has been VERY constructive and similar discussions should not be discouraged. -
Yes, I'd like to know that as well. I've seen some CG models made by fans that were up around 50-100,000 polys. These projects can really go high. And typically, something rounded and smooth like the Zentradi ships requires more polys.
