  1. Yes, I've got those on my website (under the VF-25F Messiah entry). http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macrossf/vf-25...machinery-1.gif http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macrossf/vf-25...machinery-2.gif I think they came from a model kit booklet. They were reprinted in the Macross Chronicle.
  2. Okay, these are the best, most clear scans I could make from the pictures in the Macross Chronicle spread. They won't be as sharp or detailed as good black and white line art, but they are probably way better than most of the scans floating out there on the net. I hope these help.
  3. Yeah, someone posted this in another thread. Sad news. RIP Osamu Ichikawa.
  4. Finally. That's good news. I really want to see the movie in a good quality format rather than just net hosted videos.
  5. There's no way a reaction weapon would even approach the expense of a variable fighter. All factors being equal, the valkyrie is easily a hundred times more complex than a bomb. Despite the Red Vajra units evolving and adapting defenses to reaction weapons, the Yellow Vajra and the Vajra ships were still vulnerable to both reaction weapons and heavy quantum reaction cannons of sufficient power (VF-27's fighter-scale gun is the exception that require modification). But I suppose the MDE bomb are that much better, so they might become the weapon of choice. I'm not sure about the nature of the MDE warhead itself. I got the impression it was just technology, not "vajra-dependent tech" like the GU-17V gun pods using Vajra materials. Maybe I'm wrong; it's seems a bit unclear to me at this point.
  6. I'll get some stuff to you akt_m. Remind me if I forget.
  7. So when is this damn thing gonna get licensed already? What has it been, a year now? These anime distributors move like molasses. It's no wonder net distribution is so rampant.
  8. I hear ya. Punisher deserves so much better than this. He's definitely become one of the "cautionary tales" about the horrors of book-to-film adaptations.
  9. Giant living organisms are quite possible. We have giant animals living on Earth right now. Dinosaurs were even larger. The problem is giant "human" organisms. Gubaba Hey, don't knock bald and green. Even Martians need love Best canon line art of the Queadluun-Rau cockpit shows the Meltrandi pilot places her legs into the upper legs of the Queadluun-Rau. A semi-seated position (similar to those ergonomic chairs we have today) might also be part of the cockpit accommodation. See line art by clicking here The Queadluun-Rea from Macross Frontier appears to be less comfortable. Klan is shown fully seated inside the torso; her legs never go below the waist line of the mecha. In that regard, the Q-Rea is more like a Reguld, with a much more cramped, uncomfortable cockpit. Definitely over-thinking it here, but it's kinda fun I don't think the bio-mechanical theory makes much sense, since the micloning process wouldn't work in that case. Or at least, it would become far more far-fetched and far more involved than it has been shown in SDF Macross and Macross Frontier. You'd need mechanical removal/reconstruction each time the micloning process occurs and that couldn't really be done inside a giant test tube like we see in the original and the sequels. Personally, I would think the Zentradi are just biological with extensive genetic engineering. The Protoculture were masters of genetic engineering, so they'd know how to make giant sized organs and organic systems function. And they eventually did create "Super Dimension Organs" when they built the Eh-Vil Zentradi (which become the Protodeviln), similar to the line of thought that sucker4meltrans had.
  10. Alto totally snagged her on the rebound
  11. WOW! This is THE issue to get (like I'd miss any of them anyway, but you know what I mean, lol). Impressive! I'll make a note about the Altira and make the change. Bit of a name roller coaster with this one, but at least we have a proper name now. Thanks!
  12. Why not just forget the list and learn to use the "Back" button on your browser? Also, a little restraint with the "Post" button solves many a problem. And lastly, there is the "Ignore" feature, should all else fail. Cheque is in the mail, then?
  13. Back onto another part of the Zentradi, what the heck is up with the skin? I mean purple? There's something very wrong with Kamjin De culcha! Sad day indeed. Bye, bye voice of Bodolzaa. You will be missed.
  14. The hardest part was distilling my favorite bands down to a single album. The TRULY good bands put out so much quality material it's nearly impossible to choose a favorite. U2, Radiohead, RATM, The Police, and Led Zeppelin were torture to choose just one. U2 was probably the hardest because I've been a fan of them the longest and just by virtue of when I was born, they were the band of my era, so to speak. Been a fan for decades and it kills me to choose just one of their albums. Perhaps on another day I would have chosen War, Unforgettable Fire, Boy or Joshua Tree. I have a real post-punk fondness for U2's Boy album. Though they've made better albums, there's just something about that era of U2 that can't quite be matched the same ever again.
  15. Hear, hear! But to be honest, I like Canaria just the way she is. She's kinda perfect in her minor role, only appearing to kick a dumb character onto the right path or to just kick ass
  16. I recall when I first opened the Macross Mecha Manual, my website feature mostly VF-1 profiles and there was something like 25 of them. There's a lot of VF-1 variants
  17. So you launch them later or launch them in swarms (DYRL? anyone?). It still seems like a using reaction missile would be cheaper and easier even if you need more of them. Plus you have way more options with reaction warheads.
  18. Still sounds like a more expensive approach to me. It's probably better to simply use a lot of reaction missiles. They'd be cheaper and more plentiful. But that's just me. Reaction weapons are used in every Macross show, with the exception of M+ (for obvious reasons). I know Kawamori and Co. love to pay lip service to reaction weapons, making them sound all restricted/powerful/awe-inspiring (which is good, since you want the audience to understand that reaction warheads are high-energy nuke-like bombs). But the plain fact of the matter is, reaction weapons are flying every time there's a conflict. SDF Macross, DYRL?, Macross 7, Macross Dynamite 7, Macross Frontier, etc. They may say reaction weapons are rare, limited, etc. But in practice, reaction weapons are available by the thousands and are deployed in every war, without fail. The UN Spacy is one nuke-happy, nuke-toting, nuke-loving military Reaction weapons are as common to Macross as transforming fighters and idol singers. Valkyries with reaction missiles are sadly the norm and not the exception. Granted, reaction weapons aren't used in EVERY fight, but I think you're also exaggerating the god mechs from other anime shows
  19. Indeed. Which leads to another line of thought; how separate were the Zentradi and Meltrandi, really? Even with a strong anti-social culture, separation by gender and artificial conception, it's clear the Zentradi are just as functional as any human. You can't tell me some Zentradi grunt didn't get it into his head to meet up with that cute Meltrandi technician behind the micloning bay on some occasion or another. Mixed Zentradi/Meltrandi operations are obviously nothing unusual, so there had to have been some kind of interaction at times. Besides, you can tell by the way Britai and Lap Lamiz verbally sparred that she was just bitter over their breakup
  20. I like Klan. In some ways her genetic problem makes her a spin on Ugly Betty, a girl out of her element. She's also a tragic character, which makes her very sympathetic. But I agree the loli attraction she naturally radiates is unfortunate, especially being aware of how many of those creepy loli fans would just love Klan. Kinda ruins her a little
  21. I know there's this perception spread around MW that the variable fighters are more real or grounded than other mecha shows, but the plain fact is ANY Valkyrie armed with reaction weapons is a god mech. There's really no way of getting around that. Besides, if a pin-point barrier, fold system, or Heavy quantum beam cannon can be miniaturized on a fighter, why not a Full Barrier? My problem with the Omni-Stryker would be the usefulness of the technology. Since a barrier explosion is harmful to both friend and foe, a fighter armed with such a device would have to be deployed like a strategic high-energy weapon. If that's the case, why not just use a reaction missile, which is faster, more versatile and likely more powerful?
  22. This is always a hard one. For me, it changes slightly every time I'm asked, which means I'd probably die if limited to just ten albums But here we go: U2 - Achtung, Baby Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral Led Zeppelin - IV The Tea Party - The Edges of Twilight The Roots - Game Theory Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine The Police - Ghost In The Machine Radiohead - The Bends Massive Attack - Mezzanine Elliott Smith - Figure 8
  23. Currently on episode 4 of Gundam 00, Season 2. Going strong so far. This series is great fun.
  24. Who would have though that one day we'd all come to dread the VF-1
  25. Hmmm, I think you're getting a little flustered about the Zentradi sizes, but it's not that big a deal. The only true problems with the Zentradi size is Kamjin and Klan. All the other Zentradi work within an acceptable margin of error. Milia is arguably the most important Zentradi and she's depicted consistently throughout the series. The Zentradi soldiers are scaled more or less correct at 10 meters (episode 2, episode 10, DYRL, Macross 7), with a few glaring exceptions (episode 32). Besides, the exercise is it's own reward. Think of the analysis of the Zentradi sizes as FAQ material, something we can refer back to when someone posts a newbie question on Macross I don't think that's the case at all. The happy medium is fine for most cases. The 10 meter Zentradi figure is acceptable for the N-Ger/Reguld, Britai is fine at 13.5 and Milia at 8.5 works perfectly with her Q-Rau. Like I said above, the only real Zentradi size problems are regarding Kamjin and Klan, but everyone else is more or less correct. Instances like Max's VF-1A disguise can easily be rationalized as encountering a Kamjin-type or commander-type (Britai) Zentradi or simply a larger Zentradi, since these are only averages we're talking about. And as the three spies show, the Zentradi are just as varied in height as humans are. We can also just accept instances of size discrepancy as creative license and the official heights as a baseline only, which is really the best answer. Someone asks; "How tall is a Zentradi?" we can give an answer of roughly 10 meters or approximately 5:1 ratio (small variations understood). If they then say; "Well what about this episode or this character?" that can be dealt with on an individual basis with few problems. It's only a guide after all and if that's good enough for the animators, it good enough for me
