I have had a chance to closely examine Yamato's Q-Rau, although only the mecha, not the pilot figure, which wasn't ready at the time. Based on the Yamato toy, there is no way that the pilots legs could fit into the mecha's thighs. However, it does appear as if they fit into the back section of the mecha. Graham

Just re-watching Mospeada for the first time in more than ten years. I'd forgotten how fun it was. I must say I'm really looking forward to the Toynami MPC Legioss toys when they are released next year. They are my most anticipated toy release of 2004 so far along with the Yamato Macross Zero toys. Although I'm not a fan of Toynami's previous MPC or Superposeable toys, I'm fairly confident that they will strike a home run with the MPC Legioss toys. The current sculpt of the MPC Legioss looks great IMO and while it may slightly resemble the old IMAI model kit, it seems to be much improved in terms of accuracy of the sculpt, articulation and features. At any rate it is light years ahead of the the old large Gakken toy in terms of accuracy. I think Toynami will have learn't from their mistakes with the VF-1 MPC line. And to be honest, there weren't really that many problems with the VF-1 MPC IMO. OK, it's not a toy I would ever pay money for, but it didn't have too many QC probelms. Personally, my main disappointment with the VF-1 MPC comes from the very poor, inaccurate sculpt of the nosecone and intake area and the poor proportioning in battroid mode. Anyway, I say good luck to Toynami with the Legioss MPC, as they're the only ones making Mospeada toys Graham

I can just see the whiteboards at Yamato - the new Max Jenius VF-1S. With vibrating kung fu action. Coming fall 2004. (BTW, thanks a lot - I'll never look at my toys in the same light again). Heck, why do you think Kawamori designed the SV-51 with those little spines around the nose cone! 'Ribbed for her pleasure' One way or another, I bet the SV-51 toys are going to be played with a lot. Nope, the VF-1 has vertical stabilizers(tails). As far as I know, the moving parts on the VF-1's vertical stabilizers are the rudders, which control left and right yaw, but have nothing to do with up and down pitch control. Graham

Hi Jung, If you got that error, it probably means that there was a character in the URL which it wouldn't accept. I can't remember which characters it is, but I know from personal experience, that it doesn't like '&'. Great custom BTW. And nice to see you back on MW. Graham

Lift is not soley dependant on the amount of wing area. The body of a plane can also act as a lifting surface. The Legioss may have enough thrust to get up into the air, but my point is does it actually have enough control surfaces to stay there. As you said, with enough thrust you can get anything up in the air, but the Legioss would probably be a very unstable design and without the right control surfaces, it's just going to depart controlled flight very quickly. FYI, this paint scheme was first featured in the June 2002 issue of Model Graphix magazine. Graham

I love the look of the Legioss, but studying the design got me thinking would it actually be capable of atmospheric flight as it lacks both horizontal stabilzers and elevators? While the VF-1 also lacks any horizontal stabilzers and elevators, it has thrust vectoring in the vertical axis, which when controlled by the computorised fly-by-wire system could be used for pitch control and horizontal stability. While the Legioss may also have thrust vectoring, it is in the horizontal, not vertical axis, so could not be used for pitch control or stability. Thoughts? Graham

Nope, the pilot's legs do not go into the Q-Rau's thighs. The pilot's legs actually fit ito the lower rear back part. Graham

Guys, I'm pretty sure this is just the GBP armor sold by itself without the Valk. The HLJ blurb about paint, is just a screw up on HLJ's part. Graham
-
I disagree that it would have been too hard to render the Armored VF-0S in CG. I've seen examples of CG rendered Armored GBP-1S in the opening FMV for various Macross console and PC games and they look fine. I'm thinking it was more likely due to budget and/or time constraints. Graham

What were your Favorite PS2 games of this year
Graham replied to jwinges's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just bought my PS2 in October, so haven't had much chance to play many games yet. MY two favorite games so far which I have recently completed are the new Macross game and also the FPS game 'Judge Dredd - Dredd vs Death'. I'm just starting on Row-Boat-Tek Battle Cry, but it's pretty awful IMO and I don't think I'll be able to play through the whole game. I've also bought Devil May Cry, Ace Combat 4 and Armored Core Silent Line. Haven't played them yet, but looking forward to playing. Graham -
Guys, I will be free all day Fri, Sat & Sun 9th,10th & 11th January. I may also be free on the evening of Thu 8th January, but I'm not sure yet. Anyway, I suggest we all meet up on the morning of Friday 9th January for breakfast. Sebastian, if possible can you update the name list to show which hotels people are staying at? Graham

Not that I'm really interested in SW anymore (haven't been for 20 years now), but I've recently been hearing that SW Ep.3 is going to be the final SW movie made. However, I'm sure years and years ago I remember hearing that Lucas planned for 9 movies, i.e. the 3 originals, the 3 prequels and 3 more movies set after the originals. Am I just dreaming this? Oh dear, I just took a look. That is really not my cup of tea. Looks like one of those G-taste garage kits! Hmm........gimme small any day. Small is cute. I bet if she tried to run or jump she'd knock herself out Graham

Was that missile pod that hangs of the left shoulder ever shown in the anime, or is it specific to the model kits? Graham

A new Macross arcade game might not make it outside of Japan with the HG/BW licensing issues. Even without the legal issues it probably wouldn't be very widespread anyway. Also, personally, I have no interest in arcade games. I haven't been to an arcade in nearly a decade. Hate wasting money on the things. Much rather play a console game in the comfort of my home. At least I don't have to keeping feeding coins into a console every five minutes Graham

This worries me, as it may effect plans for a sequel to the recent Bandai / Sega-AM2, PS2 Macross game. Graahm

Yep, that's just a rerelease of series # 1. It's 10pcs per box. Normally you get 5 each of the clear hair version and 5 each of the normal hair version. This means that you will get 2pcs of each character (1 clear hair & 1 normal), unless you get the chase Minmay doll instead. Series 2 is supposed to be being released in February 2004, but the character lineup hasn't been announced yet. Graham

Yikes, they have done it. It's an anime based on tatu - those useless, tone-deaf, pretend-lesbians. See here. Graham

Nah, nobody wants to contact you. We will all run away from you if we see you Just joking. Graham

Just a reminder, this forum is for discussing Macross games only. This is a Macross forum, not a Halo forum. Graham
