Yeah, the 50 cal. barrels look a little big in particular on her, especially in comparison to the photos of her actual guns:

Thankfully, nothing is glued in yet, just taped on. I sized them directly from the parts layout on the Aoshima kit instructions, but I think they look a little big as well. I don't have any thin metal tubing per se (and money is tight right now after some unexpected expenses), but even if I have to use stretched sprue and cut off the old barrels to fit them in, I'll get it taken care of. :)

I'm sure you will, Peng, you are a wiz at this!

The gloss white/gloss black scheme is interesting, but unfortunately I think I applied too many layers of silver paint, making the black panels a bit too subtle. The wing flaps are Mr. Color 8 Silver, while the rest of the plane is Mr. Color SM201 Super Fine Silver 2. You can barely see that the nose, engine cowlings, rear parts of the nacelles, and vertical stabilizers are a bit deeper color. I should not have applied too many layers of paint and let them show the darker color more. It was my first time attempting this, and I thought that after the paint dried, they would be more visible.

So... I dunno... Do you think it's worth re-masking and giving these panels another shot? Or just fall forward?

BTW, in the background you can see the old Imai 1:100 Armored Valk that I am building up as Millia's red VF-1J.

If you have some Tamiya Smoke, you could try using that to shade some selective panels. And mask and spray some other ones with the same silver from the wing flaps, or even mix the MC8 with MCSF2 for a third shade.

Cool seeing the guns on her... except they look a little oversized IMO. Do you have any thin metal tubes? If not, most hardware stores carry some, like K&S brand, that are not that expensive.

    This is just an example.

UPDATE: continuing to work on "the Lady":

Still working out details, as well as trying to source turbo boost nozzles for her. Figured I'd spin the main rotor before snapping a pic just for fun; ended up looking like it does in the show!

Waffling a bit still on weapons, as I would have to cut metal on the sponsons and rig a way to plug the ends in in both deployed and underemployed mode. The ADF isn't so much of an issue, as it can attach via magnets. But you never see the pod without the chain guns, so I'm still fussing on this point.

Stay tuned...Dom's out getting a sandwich while String is fishing...

That's means Caitlyn is flying! Weeee!

I totally missed this post. Looks so cool with the rotor going,.

Yeah, I was just kiddin. It’s just funny that in all three above pictures of it above in battroid mode, there’s odd differences. The first two have an orange head and the last one is only tan. The first is missing a thin black stripe at the top of the chest plate and the bullet holes are all over the place. It makes it look like a team of newbies all got shot down within seconds

    Many newbies died that day...😢

    DEAD BOY DETECTIVES

    From Hollywood Reporter
    https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/netflix-april-2024-new-releases-movies-tv-1235863853/

Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner’s DC comic book characters the Dead Boy Detectives, a pair of supernatural investigators who appeared in The Sandman series, get their own spinoff live-action series, which debuts on Netflix on April 25. The show is led by George Rexstrew, who plays Edwin Payne, and Jayden Revri as Charles Rowland. The cast includes Kassius Nelson, Briana Cuoco and Ruth Connell. Dead Boy Detectives was originally set to launch on Max but moved to Netflix in February 2023. Gaiman’s The Sandman already lives on Netflix, and the celebrated author confirmed that both that show and Dead Boy Detectives will share the same universe.

Looks like it's worth a look. Kind of reminds me of Lockwood and Co.

Didn’t she only have the silver surfer thing for like an odd issue or two and die right after. This seems pretty lame. Disney is already jumping at the female replacement without even introducing the most famous Silver Surfer. I had my hopes up that maybe we’d finally get a good FF4 movie, but my hopes are definitely sinking. This is gonna be another wait and see kinda thing so far.

There is precedent for the character, and they did introduce Silver Surfer in FF2, now whether you liked it or not..?:p I'm interested to see if they are merely doing a gender flip (which really doesn't bother me in the least) or if they will take from the character's actual past and use that in the story.

To tell the truth, my one draw back so far is Pedro Pascal. I like him enough as an actor, but I never pictured him as Reed. I'll have to see it in action.

  7. Will be well worth the effort @Urashiman.

As for canopies, I'm finally getting mine in place. Not the most perfect fit, but it's what I got

    YC6nM4e.jpg

And since my kit is missing the PE fret it left the factory with, I had to make the DF loop and repurpose some unused inner framing as an antenna.

I think I can get to masking and paint tomorrow!

Happy times with plastic torture devices!

  8. It seams like they start out slightly damaged/used but maybe get a little bit 'more weathered' before he starts to clean them. Admitedly, I don't watch these vids, but the few I have seen (posted on here usually) I don't see any body damage work. Just a quick bath and BAM, ready for paint.

  9. @Urashiman I remember! It may have subconsciously helped in deciding to build this one. I actually wanted a quick build for a model show coming up in a week. And, except for some fiddly construction, it has been.

That snow speeder is looking real nice, but don't poo-poo the VF-1 too much. She looks like she'll be a nice shelf queen.
