  1. That Kenny Lam guy, who finished the Monster has actually a shop selling all sorts of recast kit. Rumour has it that he is the side-kick for G-System. While G-System sells all own production kits, Kenny Lam sells all the recast kits. Kits are made in China with reasonable pricing, though I have heard mixed revies on their quality.
  2. Pics of my 1/72 VF-4 kit!
  3. I believe either WAVE or Kotobukiya makes spares and come in various sizes. They might not be exactly the same ones as found on the Hasegawa kits but a good start for scratch builds or kit bashing.
  4. Well, looks to me it is the already released 25th Anniversary VF-1 fighter kit, the one in metallic blue! Honestly, a little pricey. You can almost buy two for that amount!
  5. Okay, here are some answers to the few queries I see! First, the price for the kit inclusive first class registered air mail to the US and PayPal fees is $190, other countries will vary a little. The first 20 kits will also receive a 1/12 Minmay resin figure. Second, due to the sheer size and weight of the kit, it was designed to be set as a fixed pose but with some minor alterations and some very heavy duty ball joints, I believe it can me made pose able. The kit is a little over a 1kg and top heavy because of the back back boosters, so making it pose able can be risky. Last but not least, the question on a 1/72 VF-11 fighter...yes, there will be VF-11 fighter made, most likely a re-tooled version of the Hobby Base Retppu kit. I am also planning to make a dual cockpit option but all this to become reality will take still some time.
  6. The kit is being casted as we speak and I will get delivery of the boxes next week. So, if everything works out according to plan, the kits will be ready by the end of the month or early March!
  7. Well, supposedly Hasegawa "limited edition" kits, the ones where you see a little red label on the box, have a run of between 3,000 to 5,000. So, the Minmay Guard kit cost retail Yen 3,800 and the auction is for 24 of them. So, the buyer got each kit for around Yen 1,333 before shipping, which is a steal! I assume the Seller noticed that it will be re-released, hence the prompt bulk load-off
  8. Good to see the Minmay Guard being available again! Though I guess you can now also not trust Hasegawa anymore when they label "limited edition" on their kits.
  9. Well, honestly the price is in my opinion very good. The kit is huge, so besides earning something for the sculpt, which is most likely done via one of those 3D processing machines, the mold and the amount of resin used, makes this a fair price.
  10. Nope, not my site, I actually do not have any sites. Planned one once a few years back but realised that it will involve too much time and computer knowledge which I do not have!
  11. Wow, I can never imagine the game being sold for Yen 95,000!!! Now, that is possibly one of the most expensive Macross item I have seen changing hands on Yaoo Japan besides those anime cels.
  12. Those Gundam kits made out of building bricks are not made by LEGO but some local Japanese brand. Yeah, I agree with Roy's Blue that either LEGO or some other company should release some Macross building block kits, love to see some super scale ones, like 1/20 or so with moving flaps and removable compartments, not to mention perfect transformation!
  13. Well, hoping to see through the VF-11 Full Armour project first before attempting any new work. So, if you want to see a new 1/72 VF-11 fighter resin kit based on the Hobby Base Retppu kit, you will have to give me some time
  14. Okay, here are some answers to all the queries! The kit is a full kit and not a conversion kit, so no worry of not being able to find a 1/72 VF-11 battroid kit The initial idea was to make it a conversion kit based around the Hobby Base Retppu VF-11 battroid kit. However it proved too difficult due to anime magic and the end result will not be proportional and true to original lineart. As with pricing, still crunching the numbers for the cost of the mold and resin per kit. Will try and keep it as low as possible, so far I am looking in the region of $150 before shipping. Last but not least, the original 1/72 Hobby Base Retppu kit I mentioned and replied in the wanted section of the forum is either for sale or if there is sufficient interest, I can recast it.
  15. Okay, after a very very long delay, I can finally say that the 1/72 scale VF-11 Full Armour resin kit is complete, well need to copy cast a few bits still This kit is huge and very heavy, weighing in at close to 1kg! I will take the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays to assemble one together and hopefully get it recasted shortly afterwards for those who are interested
  16. Well, most of the newer models do not really require putty anymore in a way, just take a look at all the BanDai made MG and PG kits! Only traditional and true model kits need putty and apparently the market for them are shrinking quite fast
  17. A clever piece of article to lighten up all those who got burnt in recent days!
  18. Well, I happen to have the SD YF-19 and also the SD YF-21 if you are interested! I recasted them from my originals and the quality is guaranteed to be better than HobbyFan Also, as far as I know, I am the only person who has ever recasted the SD YF-21. Last but not least, mine comes with waterslide decals!
  19. Well, for those with very very deep pockets or who recently won the lottery jackpot, here is your chance to get the holy grail of all Macross games: PS Macross VF-X2 Special Edition Good luck
  20. Besides not releasing any new Macross resin kits or even re-issues, I believe they have now gone to make completed kits. What they sell are still resin kits but just completed and with an even heftier price tag!
  21. Well, BanDai translated into bad English means reissue/no limited edition, so be prepared for more reissues, not only models! Knowing how they reissued other toys and models in the past, I doubt they will change anything, especially minor re-tooling, where substatial amount of money is involved with little profit value. Reissuing stuff is not a bad thing as it will allow people to buy the items they could not get hold of the fist time round or relive chilhood memories. But BanDai has also angered many collectors in the past as with most of their reissues are exactly the same as the original issue, down right to the box art details. Collectors have lost a lot of money because of this. BanDai could have been at least a little creative and repackage the items, give them a fresh look and new lease of life!
  22. Well, ever since IHP and later on its successor Liquid Stone released their versions of 1/100 fully variable YF-19 kits, the prices on the SHE kits hav dropped quite a fair bit. Given the fact that your kit is partially built, it will even command less. In my opinon, if you want to get the most out of the kit, sell it as a complete item, meaning finish building it or at least build it up and leave the paint job to the potential buyer. This way you will attract more interested parties.
  23. The WAVE vinyl kits are more "anime proportioned" rather than "technical lineart" to the like of Hasegawa model kits, so if Hasegawa does get the licence for it (which I doubt) it will look much different! Coming back in getting the WAVE kit recasted, well in my opinion not worth it as an original WAVE it is not that expensive and quite readily available. The main factor though is the size of the kit, casting it out of resin will make it very heavy and not cost effective (huge mold cost, resin amount used, shipping cost etc.).
