  1. I never claimed they were all likely, I was merely trying to cover all the possible routes Yamato could take with the 1/48 VF-1 line if they wanted to. Honestly, I think the VF-1D might be pretty unlikely due to design constraints, but you never know. I also think that Yamato will be taking into account the fact that many customers may pass on the 1/60 GBP in the hopes of the eventual release of a 1/48 version. Many customers would want both, many will get the 1/60 because they want a GBP in any scale, many will probably wait (at least I feel this theory applies to customers outside of Japan/Hong Kong). If items like the VF-1S Hikaru (which, I imagine are largely profit) do well, that should compensate for the cost in making other things that require new molds. If they sold a 1/48 GBP as armor only, like the 1/48 FAST packs, I'd say they couldn't lose, regardless of how the 1/60 VF-1J GBP does...just my take on it.

    Hikaru 1S Review

*Sung to the tune of "God Save the Queen" (Henry Carey, not the Sex Pistols)* Graham tell us more, I beg Engine to backpack peg We need your view Is it just a repaint? New head is all? That's quaint. Don't buy it if your heart is faint. New Valks are still new. Give us reviews sublime. Thanks for your precious time. God save our Graham. When will it ever end? Pics would be nice, my friend. Come, give us what we need and bend. God save our Graham.
  3. Thanks Graham , even if it´s not official I´m happy to know you´re almost sure that the re-issues will be improved. In regards to my comment about the VF-1 line coming to an end , I think it´s fairly safe to say that there´re not enough variants left for the VF-1 line to continue for another 6 months if Yamato is confident enough to produce every single VF-1 in 1/48 ( whatever happened to ¨limited collectors item¨). VF-1A Kakizaki (DYRL) VF-1J Max w/ FAST packs VF-1J Miria w/ FAST packs VF-1A Cannon Fodder VF-1S Max (DYRL) VF-1A Max (TV) VF-1A Kakizaki (TV) GBP armor VT-1 VE-1 VF-1D VF-1A/D Angel Birds VF-1D Virgin Road I don't know. If Yamato were to really milk the 1/48 line (and I mean really milk it), I'd hate to see them do it within six months. I'd have to take out a loan.
  4. What, no VF-0? I've got to go with the most familiar one that started it all: the VF-1 (the S model in particular has always been my favorite).
  5. Maybe you should be writing to Hasegawa for a 1/48 Super Ostrich. What's the point of making a high quality, big scale Valkyrie toy that doesn't transform?
  6. Why that might make sense from a financial/collector's point of view, there are a few reasons: 1) I don't consider customizing "ruining" unless something gets pretty messed up in the process. 2) The customization I had in mind isn't that complicated and the low-vis would remain largely as is but for the vertical stabilizers and the heat shield. 3) If I were to use a Max, I'd probably go all out and do something totally original. The fact that the low-vis is already just that: low-vis is what I was going for. What I had in mind, as I said, would not be much of a departure. I'd merely be doing something besides another Valk in the long line of Skulls.
  7. I hadn't even considered that. Good call.
  8. I'm willing to chalk it up to an individual fluke until I hear more feedback (particularly Graham's review).
  9. These are stickers, not decals; but they look just like decals: proffesionally printed, made of very thin high quality 3M sheets. Trust me, they are far superior than the Yamato stickers. Well, it is time to give a small preview of what the option stickers will have. Due to a busy schedule, they won't be ready until the end of october. I don't know if this will be considered helpful or nitpicky, but shouldn't that read UNN Valley Forge (not Vally Forge)? I just thought I'd point it out before you had a million printed, Tak.
  10. Actually, I've been wanting to customize my low-vis. I just need to remove the heatshield and vertical stabilizers so I can give them a good spraying.
  11. Someone should tell Yamato their Q-Rau is too big.

    Newbish question.

I found these at this site, though I noticed a lot of images that were just using real Navy/AF markings on Valk art. Not sure where to get more info on these squadrons. VF-1A of SVF-113 Enigma (not sure if that is right) off of UNS Midway VF-1A of SVFC-8 off of UNS Soryu Anyone know where I can find a bigger image of this?
  13. Macross Zero F-14/MiG-29 in 1/72 for instance...
  14. Something makes me think they'll take the same route as the 1/60. If they were to release MM 1/48s (which, as far as I'm concerned, is a foregone conclusion) they will almost certainly release them with fast packs (where else are we gonna get red and blue fast packs?), and they might release clean versions without the FPs, but I doubt they'd bundle two VF-1Js with fast packs. From a marketing standpoint, I'd say it'd be a safer bet to sell them seperately. Somebody who only wants a Max 1J or only wants a Milia 1J might shy away from a $350+ plus bundle (or however much they're going for in Japan). But then, that's probably not what you meant, is it?
  15. *Twiddles thumbs waiting for the 1/48 Max/Milia announcement.*
  16. They are releasing the VF-1J with and without fastpacks, but I'm not sure what the differences in the boxes will be. 1:48 VF-1J, Fast Packs or no Fast Packs???
  17. When it was orginally announced, it caught me off guard. I am a bit surprised that it's hitting the shelves before the re-release of the Hikaru 1A and Roy 1S, but I'm not complaining.
  18. That was one of the things I really enjoyed about the 1/48...it really is rock-solid in Gerwalk. I do have my 1/60 Max VF-1J in Gerwalk and it's pretty stable. The original release 1/60 (pre-fast pack) are pretty useless in Gerwalk though, unless you are going for that "crashed and burned" look.

    Newbish question.

Anyone know where I can find pictures or painting/marking guides to some of the lesser known Valkyrie squadrons? I'm looking to do a little low-vis customizing and was wondering where I might find some pictures of Blue Roses/Thunderhummers/etc. markings (like the ones included in the Takatoys sticker sheet). Are any of these squadrons canon, or did they all originate as model customs?

    1:48 VF-1J

Canon or no, fastpacks are cool. I like the look of the Valk better without them sometimes, but sometimes it's a "bulky overkill" kind of day. Fortunately, if I get the fast packs I always have the option of taking them off...it doesn't work the other way around.
  21. If they do eventually release the 1/48 Max and Kakizaki TV variants, I wonder if they'll change the VF-1A's head sculpt at all.
  22. No, I don't think I will. While the low-vis is super cool, the CF is and always will be the bullet catcher/reticle filler that we know and love.
  23. "Come to me my little red and blue jewels of transforming goodness."
  24. I think rabid fans will take whatever they can get their hands on.
