  1. I still say waiting for a new wing to show up on eBay will save you effort and I doubt it would be any more expensive than a custom repair.
  2. I have no idea, but I doubt it'll deteriorate more quickly than any other resin/plastic. Although it might be easier for house pets and small children to chew and swallow.
  3. Any updates on Takatoys stickers? I'm eagerly awaiting some new releases. The VF-1J Hikaru is almost here (better start working on Max/Miria stickers ) and are you still planning on including the red skull with '001' for Hikaru's VF-1S strike in the latest low-vis supplements? Edit: And on that note, check these pics over at the Twin Moons gallery out.
  4. Thanks tom. any other solution for this?... repaint to black will be best for it... haha.. i think i'll come out with a custom design. I wouldn't do anything drastic unless you're willing to write the whole Valk off. As time goes by more and more folks (unfortunately) will suffer a similar fate and be putting stuff up on eBay in the hopes of recovering some of their financial investment. If you wait long enough, I'm sure you'll find exactly what you're looking for.
  5. I truly am sorry for your loss, but I couldn't resist.
  6. Here's a pic of Kira Yamato having a quiet evening at home:
  7. Did you happen to coat those missles with gasoline? I have a hard time believing a simple candle rolling towards your Valk would cause that kind of damage...or were you too caught up in your romantic evening to do anything about it until it was too late.
  8. A vague assessment at best. "Caught fire" my ass. Pyromaniacs and $100+ toys do not mix.
  9. Well, it may just be my undying optimism, but I'm hoping these issues may vary from one Valk to another. There were some issues with the Hikaru 1S (paint on port wing being sloppy, loose air-brake, someone reported a loose canopy) that were not production wide, but limited to a few batches. I'm not wishing a shoddy product on you, just hoping for the best when I get mine. If the gap with the nose gear down and a face seam are the only issues though, I'll live. I still think it's the best VF-1 toy ever. I think sometimes, we get so used to seeing great things from Yamato that when the reality of a QC issue rears its ugly head we feel like our perfect little world has just been shattered. I suppose it stems from paying so much for a toy.
  10. Apparently there are no differences between the orginal VF-1A/S pilots and the reissues. However, the Hikaru VF-1S came with a gummi resin pilot (as seen in the VF-1A low-vis) with an improved sculpt.
  11. I suppose that would be apropos. On the Prowler, if I'm not mistaken, the gold tint is for radiation protection from the ALQ-99s. Plenty of radiation in space.
  12. I can't help but feel if Yamato ever decided to do something like this, it would be a low priority when compared to the latest release VF-1 toys. I just hope that if they do release any VF-1 accessories, they do it before they get too involved in other projects (like Macross Zero or whatever is coming down the pipe). My interest in the 1/60 line is almost non-existant now, but some folks are still waiting for those update kits. But it would be a good way to get new hands, pilots, and it would be a great way for folks who didn't want to spring for FAST packs to get some RMS-1s (assuming there are such people out there).
  13. It's bad news that they made improvements? Or do you mean it's bad news that they released a sub-par 1S in the first place? Or are you suggesting that it still isn't "perfect" or something along those lines?
  14. I haven't heard a single person complain about breakage problems in the leg area. Although, caution is your friend...always. The Achilles' Heel of the Yamato 1/48 is the backpack attachements. Particularly if you're attaching FAST packs. Check out this thread for more info.
  15. I'm pretty sure Tamiya makes a clear/smoke acrylic (I don't use them too often, but IIRC you'll have to use their brand of thinner) if you wanted to do something to the canopy. As far as the weathering, I'd probably try to simulate a zinc-chromate undercoat.
  16. No, this is a re-release of the original VF-1S Roy and VF-1A Hikaru with the same improvements featured on the VF-1A Max and low-vis: face seam on 1S head is less noticeable (as on the new Hikaru 1S), nose cone has a better attachement mechanism, head rest is changed, nose landing gear doors easier to open, canopy isn't loose...I think that's everything. Someone correct me if I've left anything out. You can still order it at Twin Moons. I checked Blasto Toys and Valkyrie-Exchange as well, but didn't see them.
  17. This hadn't even occured to me until I saw Recon's thread stating that the VF-1S/VF-1A reissues had the old style pilot of the original release versions. Do you think we'll ever see TV type pilots besides Hikaru? I mean, Roy is pretty much out unless we see a 3rd release of the yellow and black VF-1S. Max and Miria, I would say, are pretty likely. I and others (including Graham) have speculated that M&M VF-1Js are probably not far off. Kakizaki? Unless they make a VF-1A TV type for him, probably not. We may not even see him in a DYRL flight suit. I'm really bummed at the fact that I'll never see Roy's black/gray outfit in the cockpit of my VF-1S though (unless, of course, I customize one). Yamato would be smart to release a gummi pilot pack at some point (in my opinion) but that seems like a pipedream to me.
  18. I'm gonna assume that if BA is correct on that, then it just takes awhile for guys like Tam, Kevin and Will to get their stuff from their overseas distributors. Edit: According to Recon (in this thread), the reissues have arrived in Singapore.
  19. The difference there is that TRU Japan wanted first dibs on the 1/60 CF as an exclusive to celebrate an anniversary. The 1/48 Low-Vis wasn't an exclusive, it was just limited in numbers. Demand for it would probably still be high if it was a regular release, but I don't know that I'd count on a general release of this one later. You never know though...
  20. I don't think I understand the question. Of course I'd love for all Valks to be affordable and available. A few chase versions would be fun from a collector's standpoint, but I could take or leave that option. The lack of availability or high price of Macross toys as it is is due in large part to the lack of US Macross licenses (to anyone other than HG that is).
  21. Yes you do. See the PM button under each post? Just find Rohby earlier in the thread and click it (or just wait for him to see it here). Edit: Try clicking here.
  22. Is that the BILLY, grassland? I know some MWorlders have praised both the various incarnations of the BILLY (apparently it's pretty versatile, and a decent set-up will run you around $350) and the almost all-glass (and considerably smaller) DETOLF at $99.
  23. Chill out guys! The VF-1 line is coming very close to an end. I guess probably 4-5 more to go. A couple of Js and maybe an A. Uh, if there are 4-5 to go, that means we're not even halfway there. LOL. Or barely halfway. But, I'm in no rush. H The way I figure it, they potentially have 13 more canon VF-1 versions/paint schemes that they could release in 1/48 (if you count GPB as another version, then make it 14). Admittedly, a few of the ones I came up with are unlikely candidates for toys. Edit: I wasn't gonna list my speculative choices, but I'm too much of a geeky fan-boy not to (apparently). From most likely releases to least likely (IMHO): 1. VF-1J Max 2. VF-1J Miria 3. VF-1A CF 4. GBP armor 5. VF-1A Kakizaki (DYRL) 6. VF-1S Max 7. VT-1 Super Ostrich 8. VE-1 Elint Seeker 9. VF-1D 10. VF-1A Max (TV) 11. VF-1A Kakizaki (TV) 12. VF-1A Angel Birds 13. VF-1J CF 14. VF-1D Virgin Road (Max 1J scheme) I'll bet if they took a few dollars of the price of a CF compared to other 1/48s, it'd sell a lot better than the 1/60 did. Of course, I maintain that the deal with the 1/60 was that everyone was clamoring for a TRU Japan exclusive only to have a general release a few months later.
  24. It is nice to see such a stable, and at the same time poseable, gerwalk mode in a VF-1 toy.
