  1. Now we’re talking. I can imagine this would sell like crazy. I’ve already put together my own (minus Roy pilot) but would love an official version. This and the Tomahawk are my top remaining HMR wishes.
  2. 4 months? I think it’s been more like 4 years.
  3. Agreed. I’ll set one up the way I want and leave it on display for long periods of time, along with others in alternate modes. Then you can transform and change up the display after a while.
  4. I hope they make a 1/100 version of the 1/60 Set E color scheme.
  5. While I hope you're wrong, this makes complete sense. I think Bandai has been using this strategy for HMR for a while now, like for a certain Tomahawk. The VF-1S is the DX that I really want, though I'm hoping it's a TV version.
  6. Hey @spacemanspiff, those are some good photos of a nice-looking pair of VFs. That Jetfire looks real minty!
  7. I had never heard of that game until now. Looks to me a little like Front Mission for Super Famicom, but minus the isometric view. I may have to check it out. Of course, the list of games I want to play (or replay) is now way longer than the amount of time I have to actually play them...
  8. I think we’ll see those in HMR long before we see them in DX, especially since we’ve already seen HMR prototypes. And I’m with @Lolicon — I want a TV Roy to be the next DX release.
  9. This would be great, and I think pretty likely, given how much the 1J pilot seems to be sculpted like Hikaru, at least to my eyes.
  10. I think SD valks are cool, though I don’t own any at the moment. I used to have a set of the little Takatoku Paro Valkyries (though I believe they were Convertors KOs) which I sold off a few years ago before getting back into Macross. I’ve been tempted to get a Joke Machine but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
  11. If there’s ever a piece that was meant to be bought and displayed in multiples, it’s the VF-1. I think @spanner‘s arrangement looks great. It makes me wonder (or wish) if there was a stand like the Tamashii Trident that some of us use for HMR that’d be large enough to handle 3 valks of DX size. Would a Yeti stand base work with 3 arms?
  12. Come on, Bandai. Can I please get a HMR Tomahawk in June? Or anytime this year?!?
  13. Very interesting. I almost went for their Holy Diver rerelease. I may want to grab Metal Storm and then unload my original copy. (They go for right around $100 on EBay.) Then again, depending on what they charge for the new version, I may not come out that much ahead. I don’t think they do a cart-only option, just boxed with extras. But either way, it was a cool and innovative game.
  14. I don’t think that Bandai is going to worry about Max and Milia colors being bright white. Given their bent towards gray in HMR, I’d expect any eventual DX versions to use the same light gray as the DX Hikaru.
  15. That’s an awesome photo. I’ll have to check out your review.
  16. No speed runs for me — I’m not that good. I just like the look of the older games on a CRT. You could say it’s how they were meant to be played. Perhaps a bit of nostalgia as well. And the issue of lag is real. I kept trying to play Mike Tyson’s Punch Out on my Retron 5 and kept failing on the harder opponents. CRT response is much better. Some of the analog to digital converters aren’t too bad. The RetroTink is what I’d probably get if I wanted to go back to an LCD. Apparently zero lag and only $100. HD Retrovision also has a similar product in the works.
  17. As some of the comments on the article state, I think this device has too many strikes against it by trying to look too much like a Switch (no d-pad, wide screen, etc). While the portability is nice, consoles like this don’t hold much interest for me any more. I’ve kind of gotten to the point where I just want a truly authentic retro game experience: original hardware, CRT, etc. I hardly ever use my Retron 5 any more.
  18. Cool, I always enjoy your reviews. Your more recent photos on gray look really good. Interesting that some of the articulation improvements were introduced to some degree on the Hi Metal R VF-1 (ankles, head, elbow). Also: didn’t someone say earlier that it was just a matter of time before someone posted a middle finger shot with this new DX?
  19. I'm seeing some impressive work here on what appears to be an incredible kit. I'd never be able to tackle this, so I'll just enjoy watching others' builds.
  20. Nice. I may have missed it, but not once on this thread did I see anyone complain that Bandai didn't make the canopy blue.
  21. Fantastic shot, @Saburo! Reminds me a lot of this:
  22. Great photos, @Lolicon! Looking forward to when mine arrives.
  23. I think Bandai is just intentionally holding out, knowing that those destroids are in demand, to keep interest in the line. As popular as the Tomahawk is, I don’t see any way they’d refuse to make it. Edit: All this talk of the Monster is making me want to track one down now...
  24. I have toyed with the idea of getting one, but I really don't have space to display it, and it's pricey to ship. There was a point where Ami Ami had box damaged Monsters for ¥13000 or so before shipping, and I nearly pulled the trigger.
