Interesting Aviation Pictures

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the comments guy, one more here is the reference pic. I will work on the lighting to make it better in the future, my bad.

Ok, this one is easier to spot the lighting issue -- you missed the light angle. Check out the shadows on the ground vs. the shadows off the front canard.

(Lighting is awfully difficult. wmchang's pics are great because he takes great pains to match his model's lighting with the pics lighting... but that takes a great deal of effort.)

Oh, and I think you might benefit if you ease off the feathering/ blurring a bit. It's still good right now, but I think you are hitting the edges where the feather/ blur is becoming noticable.

Hmm... My eyes keep wanting to focus on the background. I think it's because your ships are blurry and the backgrounds aren't. If that's intentional maybe you should try reversing the effect. Sharp detail on the aircraft and a blurry background would give the effect that the pic was taken from another plane moving at the same speed.

Ok this one is based off of a legacy flight photo, but I can't find the link anymore oops. This one I did a little differently, I picked out my background, then modified it, blurring and other effects first. Then I used it as the background of the render, let me know what you think, I may try it this way from now on.

I have one or two A-10 pics like that in the queue, I want to do a few enemy fighters first, but they could be formation shots like that. That P-38 shot is awesome, but would a pain to setup, I'm thinking a massive formation of Solaars like that, or Phantom-4.

nice pics, but the panel lines are way too prominent. I know modellers paint them like that, but if u check out any photos, you wont see the same thing.

Still keep those pics comming, good work!!!

Thats his style. 3d modelers have differnt styles as other artist using other media. Myself use most smoother type hulls with no panels unless its needed (my style involves an outer normal shell plus interal structure).

Nice shots DH, man you really raised the difficulty bar on me here, those will be a witch and a half to do in ACAD. Once I finish the inital round I will start in on more complex models like those. And yes, they do have countermeasures.

"Uh Dave I think it's your turn to do the preflight."

"No Phil, I did it this morning."

"YOu're right, why don't we just postpone this flight?"

"Good idea Phil."

I seriously love that picture makes me laugh whenever I see it, of course for me to do it, it would probably require a dropship or bomber, something with a wing that high off the ground, give me a couple days, as I have to make improvements to those models first.

And a smaller samples:

I've got several more blackhawk shots. Mostly the orange door former EH-60A "Quickfixes" used for training at Ft. Rucker and medevac configured UH-60As.

I also have a limited collection of aerial photography of Vermont and Alabama that may be of interest to the CG guys.
