Here is what I know from watching the show itself. The VF-0 is animatied prettier, but it does nothing, nothing at all that the VF-1 doesn't do. At least not that I've seen. The VF-1 is designed around the jet engines, it was built with these engines in mind. Now, inferring from what we know from the compendium, there were working VF-1 prototypes at this time, nuclear and everything. Problem seems that they had trouble mass producing the nuclear engines. Now, would the UN develope a jet engine based fighter, then make it otherwise more advanced than the nuclear counterpart? If so, why?

It doesn't match any of the Zentradi or Meltrandi ships Nanashi posted in his size charts. It does kinda remind me of the Oberth. I'd say the jury is still out on this one.

How do you figure? In both that episode of the tv series, and in M+, the Macross is floating at the point where the Daedalus/Promethus, or the two ARMD carries are floating in the water. It should be floating at around the same point, if it is floating.

Oh, I don't disagree with that at all. It's all just possibilities though. I'm just thinking that sometimes the simplest answer is the correct answer. Still, we'll see. Or maybe we won't. I can't wait, either way.

I think he means the tons of recycled footage in the battle scenes and whatnot. I kind of agree with that, I'd only be for it if the animation quality was better than M7. M7 did have more consistent animation than SDF Macross, but the battle scenes and a number of the backgrounds really suffered. It stayed pretty middle of the road, never being as good as SDF's best, and nowhere as bad as SDF's worst, in animation. As for what extent? I'd kind of like a 'definitive' version of Space War One, made up of all the elements from both the tv series and movie that made their way into the sequels and prequels, and going all the way with DYRL?'s design elements. I'd love that detailed 80's style cel shading, and a very DYRL?-esque feel to the whole show. Still, that would leave a lot of room to tick off existing SDF Macross fans. Just reanimating everything to higher animation standards, and going with DYRL? designs, while sticking strictly to the original SDF storyline and even just using the existing audio would be the safest route to please everyone. Still, not like it's going to happen. I'd be even happier with an altogether new tv series. I just wouldn't be opposed to a well done reanimated version of SDF.

I haven't seen the movie since 1999, but if my memory serves me well, I recall the animation being pretty spectacular, with really fluid motion and lots of it. I also appreciated the really unique character designs. I'd reccomend this movie to any fans of animation.

Why not? It makes sense. When Shin and Mao are underwater you can even see shapes in the backgrounds that look a lot like the Protoculture city.

My guess is that it's the island that shows up in 'DYRL?'.

It's definitely not an easy job, but especially when they split their focus between different shows, that's a lot of work that's not going to get done quickly. I sometimes wish fansub groups would stick to a single show, but that wouldprobably get tedious for them. I do dislike that many groups overlap, like there's another group doing Galaxy Railways but they're way behind Live-eviL's fansub. So many groups do stuff like that. I just don't get it. You'd think they would go after a show no one else was doing.

Well, considering that I mainly like M7 for the characters, the character and relationship development, and the overall themes of the show, well yeah, Most definitely. Macross II has Macross in the title, and I make no secret that I don't like it. Anyone asking a question like that might want to consider the possibility that people have different tastes. This of course goes both ways. I don't expect everyone to like the show, and I can understand why some people wouldn't, while others would love it. If you believe otherwise, then you are no different than those that argue for Macross 7, expecting that everyone should love it and those with dissenting opinions are wrong. Which leads to threads being hijacked by people asking off topic questions like "would I still like M7 (as much) if if didn't have the word Macross in the title?".

But does anyone know where to get a copy of Final? I haven't seen any bootlegs or fansubs, and nobody's licensed it...

Why does Milla want Gamlin Kizaki to marry Mylene?
Radd replied to Malicious Gash's topic in Movies and TV Series
He's a military man, a fighter pilot, just like she was. He's by the book, straight laced, he's the straight man. He has pretty much all the qualities a parent would want in their daughter's choice of men. He's not some wild partier, some gung-ho hothead, and he's most definitely not a rockstar. -
But Live-Evil is also working on multiple projects (Including the original Galaxy Express 999 tv series), and they generally have excellent taste in the shows they sub, and they do it right instead of rushing through a series just to get it out.

Opinion: best sc-fi Capitol ship designs....
Radd replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
All of that, and then add the Karyu from Cosmos Warrior Zero, Herlock's Death Shadow, and all of the capital ships from the Free Planets Alliance from Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I thought their ships were every bit as cool as the Reich's, but in a completely different way. -
Well, people can't live comfortably in a football stadium for months though. Seriously, if you stack em up in houses on multi levels sure, you could pack 50,000 people into a 1km long ship. But thats only if you pack the living quarters like multylayered sardine cans. In the TV show, we have hospitals, open parks, concert stadiums, movie studios and even a freakin valkyrie patrolled military base all stuffed in?!?!? Watch the Max vs Miria fight inside the ship, the houses weren't layered on top of each other. I wonder how many people live in a 1km area in some of the most crowded cities in the world? Even that's not a fair comparison. How many people could live in the area of about 8 football stadiums? That's actually quite a fair amount of space, right there. When you consider how people often live in Japan, which is not known for excessive amounts of surplus space, it really does not seem like all that much of a stretch to me. I would assume that the tv version of Macross city had it on multiple levels, each levelalmost completely split off from the rest, seperated by each levels ceiling and floor. Of course, I consider the movie version to be the more accurate depiction.

Er, are you sure? I'm pretty certain that in Manga's version of Macross Plus, both in the Japanese dialogue and in the subtitles they refere to it as Alpha-1.

At least the boxart looks somewhat classy, they could have easily gone all cheese. Doesn't look too bad to me. As for Galaxy Railways, I've got like 12 episodes fansubbed. I'm picking up a DVD set the moment it comes out, to go with my Cosmos Warrior Zero, and Captain Herlock: Outside Legend DVD sets. I also need to get around to buying a copy of Arcadia of My Youth when I have money.

The only Transformer Energon worth buying
Radd replied to SupremeKaioshin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Arcee, Starscream, and Rodimus for me, though I kinda regret Rodimus, he just wasn't as cool as I expected, and believe me, my expectations were low. He has no upper arms. Even then, they're cheap toys I can fool around with at work without caring about whether or not I break them. I'm still all about the Alternators. -

How powerful is a Macross Cannon/Gunship.
Radd replied to Malicious Gash's topic in Movies and TV Series
yes they can edited to add I believe the canon can fire by itself but the shot is not as powerful as when done by a New Macross-Class ship http://www.steelfalcon.com/Macross/macross7.shtml That website is mainly RPG fanfiction, not exactly a good source for information. It's as about as official as my story about magic beans to explain Star Trek shields.. -
Wow, so I get this and news of a new Tetsujin 28 tv series directed by the same guy, all in the same day. Today is a wonderful day!

I guess you've never owned Metroplex or Fortress Maximus then, eh? The Toynami 'veritech' you're describing was a prop for their booth display at E3 or some other convention. It was non-transformable, and non-posable. It was a statue.
